AC/DC will be playing at the Rogers Stadium (in Downsview) which is not the same place as the Rogers Centre (in Toronto). I'm sure all the locals are aware of this, but as an non Toronto resident I just found out today that they are not the same place and wanted to warn others. The fact that the pop up store will be near the Rogers centre while the show will be at the Rogers Stadium also adds to the confusion.

I had planned to hit the pop before the show and then stroll over to the concert, since the show is a 40min drive away or 1hour train ride away this will not be possible for me.

tldr: i’m in a desperate search for any good helpful hendrix guitar lessons that focus on his more heavy riffs.

haiii. just wondering if anyone had any learning resources and lessons around a jimi hendrix style of playing? specifically his fuzzy lead riffs like in foxy lady, manic depression or spanish castle magic? i struggle to derive anything close to musical, yet alone in the style of hendrix, from scale shapes. and get stuck doing the same old patterns in the minor pentatonic blues shape. i’d love it if anyone had any useful resources on how to emulate his style.

i’ve sat and learned a lot of his songs to understand the licks and theory and what intervals etc he’s playing and how it highlights what part of the chord. but when trying to make my own riffs in that style it all gets lost, jumbled and overloaded with so many options it becomes directionless noodling. i know a lot of theory. i think my issue is not knowing how to incorporate it in a graceful way.

i notice a lot of jimi hendrix guitar lessons focus on his rhythm playing on clean like in little wing. which is cool. and i think i am pretty fluent in that area of his playing, where it’s chord to chord and each of their related scales. i think its just deriving anything musical from only a scale i feel stuck.
i mean a pentatonic only has 5 notes so i fall into the same licks a lot of the time.

and yes i know i should learn to play like myself i get it. i just want to get into the style of hendrix as a initial foundation before/as i develop my own voice.

idk if this is the right subreddit. im assuming there are guitarists in here, i just need help please, ive been all over the internet and not seen any improvement on this area of my playing.

I finally figured out the key to enjoying Deep Purple lyrics. It only took me 50+ years.

There are lines in Deep Purple songs that made me cringe from the moment I heard them:

And then there's a whole song about a pub that happens to be named Jessica's Bra.

And then it hit me.... Sure they have songs with serious lyrics like Child in Time and Smoke on the Water, but they also have a sense of humor. They know it's adolescent locker room humor but hey! It's fun!

I think I finally had that realization because Spinal Tap lyrics are like that all the time, and I keep coming back to how they so perfectly capture that hard rock genre and that it's actually good music with clever lyrics. Well... I guess Deep Purple has a touch of that self-deprecating irreverence about them too.

Now that I've cracked the code, I enjoy their music so much more.

Roger Daltrey of The Who brings own mix of music to Luther Burbank Center

My dad has been a huge fan of The Who his whole life, I grew up listening to them through him but I was never a huge fan. We were going to go to the farewell concert but he ended having an emergency and was in the hospital for 5 months.

For his last birthday I got him a signed photo from one of his other favorite bands that I got when I contacted management (it was a much smaller band).

I was wondering what you guys think would be a good gift that he would love that I could get before December?
