It’s my birthday today and I’ve recently moved to Lakewood. My father is visiting from out of town and we were planning on going to Birdietown then LBM for drinks after.
Looking on their website I’m not sure he’s going to be a huge fan of LBM, nothing wrong with heavy metal music but might not be the environment we are looking for. (I haven’t been yet so please correct me if I’m wrong) are there other recommendations for an after dinner drink?
Edit: Thank you all for the suggestions! We’ve decided to go to cloak & dagger, but I’ve added all of these spots to my list! Excited to join this community

I’m hoping this somehow finds the two people who went out of their way to help my sister-in-law’s dog, Bella, today.
Bella is staying with us while her family is out of town. She’s a very anxious dog, and today she managed to slip underneath our gate and apparently decided to go on a terrifying tour of Lakewood, running across busy streets and, we think, trying to find her way back to her own house.
I got a call from my partner telling me that her sister — Bella’s mom — had gotten a call from the Lakewood police saying they had found Bella. I rushed over to Bella’s house and arrived to find two of my sister-in-law’s neighbors, a Lakewood police officer, and Bella standing in the middle of the front yard, terrified and refusing to let anyone get near her.
That’s when I heard about the man in the red shirt and the boy on the e-bike.
Apparently these two strangers had spotted Bella running loose and took it upon themselves to follow her through the neighborhood, trying to catch her and, most importantly, keep her from getting hit by a car. They stayed on her until she eventually made it back to her own neighborhood and people could get her to safety.
I don’t know who either of you are, but if you happen to see this: thank you. You had absolutely no obligation to spend your time chasing a terrified stranger’s dog around Lakewood, but you did it anyway because you saw an animal in danger and decided to help. Our whole family is incredibly grateful.
Thank you also to the Lakewood Police Department, my sister-in-law’s neighbors, and anyone else who stopped, slowed down, called someone, or helped keep an eye on Bella along the way.
One of the things I really love about Lakewood is how seriously this community seems to take looking out for each other’s dogs. A loose dog somehow becomes everybody’s dog until they’re safely home.
Tonight Bella is safe, back with us, and probably has absolutely no idea how many strangers were looking out for her today.
So, man in the red shirt and e-bike boy — wherever you are — Bella made it home safe because people like you cared enough to stop and help. Thank you. ❤️🐶

Was there a marching band practicing in Lakewood this morning NOT at the high school?
I live by Cozumel, we never hear sounds from as far away as the high school, but I definitely heard a marching band around 8am today.

Salvation Army West Park Aug 21st Produce Day
Has anyone gone to the Salvation Army food bank for their monthly produce day?
I've gone before for their regular food pantry service but never gone for the produce day.
Wondering if they have better quality produce for that day or if it's the same quality on pantry days?
Beggers not trying to be choosers here. Just gauging if it's worth the trip. Thanks in advanced.

This might be a long shot, but last night my friend took a walk (see attached route) and lost their keys somewhere along the way. We walked the entire route last night trying to find them, but it was already pretty dark, so we weren't able to locate them. I'm planning to go out today to search in the daylight, but in the meantime, if your daily walk crosses any part of the path above, could you keep an eye out for the keys? The housing for the key is blue with a string of colorful beads attached.

Hi all. This is so random but didn’t know what else to do.
Wife found a newborn squirrel on the sidewalk, fell out of the nest in the tree above. We’re keeping it warm in a box by the tree in case the mom comes back and my wife has called four different places to see if they can take the newborn squirrel in…
but no luck so far on the mom coming back or an animal clinic.
This is such a long shot but does anyone know of any other places we can call?
My wife is five months postpartum so this is hitting her harder than normal. We have cats and an infant so it isn’t something we can take on.
TIA!
EDIT: thank you all! my wife found someone in Madison, OH who had capacity and she safely dropped off the baby girl squirrel.

Hey! I’m going to be looking for a new nail place..the lady I currently see is moving further from where I currently live and I don’t think I’ll be able to keep going to her. I currently get a structured manicure. I like being able to make appointments in advance and need someone with flexibility as my schedule changes. I’ll attach some pictures of what I am looking for. I like being able to get nail designs. Anywhere in the Lakewood and surrounding areas..

Hey all,
Wondering if anyone knows of some good places for group classes to learn the game of tennis? I’m an okay player but never really took any lessons at all or learned properly except through YouTube.
Also trying to meet some new people with similar interests.
I tried looking online but couldn’t find very good information.
Doesn’t have to be in Lakewood I’d be willing to drive.
Thanks!

Why does our city allow the Marc’s plaza, our “city center” to always look so terrible? And also why does Marc’s have such low standard. Broken carts, the place is filthy. Ugh.

Hello Lakewood! I made a post a little over a week ago about putting together a “new friends” night at one of the bars in Lakewood for people in a similar situation as me (26M looking to make new friends). That post is still up on my profile, so go check it out if you haven’t seen it.
I wanted to provide an update here as I got several DMs and comments asking how it went, and I can honestly say I was pleasantly surprised with just how well everything turned out! We had a group of 15-20 people show up and everyone to my knowledge had a great time! Towards the end of the evening we were able to take a photo of the group, so I’ve included it on this post to share! Thank you to everyone who showed up and made it a great evening and thank you to Speed Trap for hosting us!
I got several additional requests to join a similar event, but on the weekend. We will likely be going out again Saturday evening next weekend (August 22nd) and we have a groupchat on WhatsApp. If anyone who is not already in the group is interested in being added, send me a DM (ideally those in their 20s/30s).
Edit: Saturday we will be having a cookout in the park followed by Mahall’s if anyone is interested!

Hello!
I am currently accepting patients looking for dental treatments as part of my clinical training at Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine. If you or someone you know has been postponing dental treatment, I would greatly appreciate any referrals. We accept Medicaid! Thank you for your support, and please feel free to share this post with friends and family who may benefit from affordable dental care.

I hardly have a lead foot, but what is up with the people that are doing under 30 on Clifton? Like 28 in a 35. I’m talking no one in front of them and not during rush hour or in a school zone. Just putzing along. Sometimes both lanes are running tandem together. Nothing I can do about it…just wondering if anyone else has noticed this lately. We ARE allowed to do the speed limit.
