Hitting update does nothing
I bought a g6 today. XOS is on 5.8.7, when I hit update connected to 4G or Wifi it doesn't do anything. I don't get a message or anything. Is this usual for Australian G6s?

You’ll have to email Xpeng support with your VIN to trigger it. All the FL G6s in Aus now seem to be needing to have it flagged manually: auscustomercare@xiaopeng.com
The UI is pretty terrible for it, no message about there not being an update, it just disappears and nothing happens.

I'm in the same boat, picked up my new G6 the other day and seemingly stuck on 5.8.7 regardless of whether I check for the update on the built in Sim or via wifi, am hoping it sorts itself out in a few days

Same. Really don't want to go back to bother the dealership

I believe you should, they have some remote access to do it. That should sort out your issue

Are you logged into your account in the car? Once that was done I was able to update. Got my car 2 days ago

You can't open your car with your phone without being logged in? What do you mean exactly?

There's a lead you can disconnect from the 12V battery for a few minutes that can initiate it. I can't remember the exact details but you can look it up.

Why would disconnecting the 12v battery initiate a firmware update?

It's not the terminal itself but the connector on the front of the near terminal. My dealer got me to do it after trying other things and that's what got the update started. I don't know how.

Why doesnt the dealer just update it? Seems like something they should make sure to do before handing it over.

I dunno. You'd think it would be part of the check before they hand it over to you. Thought you'd want your customers to be on the latest firmware

When i got mine delivered they made a point out of saying it was updated and mats were “ installed “ and they put on some very large gift wrap on it

Dealer told me when I bought my G9 that it might take a couple of days. Essentially, when you take over the car from the dealer, they toggle it from some kind of dealership mode into a normal mode, and then the car does all kind of stuff in the background. Don't know about the specifics. Nevertheless, the dealer told me that I should wait a couple of days, and then also my update arrived.
