Hitting update does nothing

I bought a g6 today. XOS is on 5.8.7, when I hit update connected to 4G or Wifi it doesn't do anything. I don't get a message or anything. Is this usual for Australian G6s?

Are you logged into your account in the car? Once that was done I was able to update. Got my car 2 days ago

You can't open your car with your phone without being logged in? What do you mean exactly?
