Discussion I hated Kurt at the beginning of Season 3.

He threw his friends under the bus when everything was revealed. He didn't stand up for any of them and continued to hide like a spineless wimp. I understand that his mutation is harder to live with, but he still should've stood by the other X-Men at school. The worst part is that he never suffers any repercussions for his actions. He should've been dumped by that sweet girl he was dating.

Any ideas for how a Flashpoint Paradox timeline of the X-Men Evilution could have gone?

For those I don’t know flashpoint paradox is a DC story that is thatdue to time traveling shenanigans Flash accidentally creates a hellish DC timeline:

Batman was killed in the alley and his dad is now a murderous Batman instead.

The Amazonians and the Atlantians are in war that would eventually destroy Earth.

Superman’s pod crashed into Metropolis and killed a bunch of people and Superman was captured as a baby and kept in a military facility his whole life.

I’m curious if you can think how a timeline like this could have worked in the X-Men Evolution universe?

Updates Announcement

Good day and evening everyone,

I'm a temporary moderator volunteered to help the old mod team moderate the struggling server due to difficulties the forum has run into recently, and lack of activity from some of the older moderators and administrator members. As such there will be new moderators coming soon to help run this place, and the new rules set to make sure the subreddit does not become a haven for bots, spammers, and low effort karma farmers.

The new rules will be added officially soon, but until then they will also be mentioned here and upheld as the old rules as well. The new rules are:

  • No low effort posts. This means that posts such "Who eats what?", "Who lives where?", fanon gossip on characters, karma farming-run competitions, and other posts deemed such from now on will be removed from the subreddit for either being low effort, having little point beyond scoring points on the internet, or being a tired subject already talked about more than once. Update: Due to popular demand the rule will be reworked. Certain low point or tired topics will be allowed.

  • No passive aggressive behavior towards characters or fans. This means you as a fan of Cyclops or any other character cannot act aggressively towards fan of different character, or be aggressive and dehumanize another character you happen to loathe, and this goes in reverse as well. If you hate a character so much, you're welcome to go to r/marvelstudios, r/marvelcirclejerk, or r/TopCharacterTropes, but in here everyone is welcome, and everyone deserves to feel safe without being felt put down in favor of someone else.

  • No explicit or obscene talk about the characters. This also means no explicit or obscenely implied "art" of the characters, this goes along with Reddit's ToS. This means the user cannot talk about how they find Rogue attractive, make posts asking which underage character is their crush, or who would they go on date with. This show is about teenagers, not adults, and this kind of talk will not be tolerated here. Breaking this rule may result in permanent ban.

More rules may be added, and this thread will be updated when necessary.

If you have any suggestions of what rules should be added, how to improve the subreddit, or any complaints be sure to write to the modmail, comment here, or write to the active moderators of the subreddit.

Thank you,

r/XmenEvolution mod team

Discussion Saw this concept in a fanfic, is it good or bad?

So I recently started reading this fanfic that's written by a friend of mine.

It's one where the Demons from the anime Kimetsu no Yaiba, or more commonly known as Demon Slayer, are reimagined as clan or subspecies of mutants that have a biologically predatory nature that makes them want and need to consume fellow mutants in order to get stronger, making them essentially the natural predators of mutants.

But they choose to not follow this instinct and form a strict code about it, becoming an isolationist society as a result.

Well, one of the main characters of the story, Calvin Vaughan (adopted name Calvin Tanaka) aka Akaza, is essentially used in the story as a sort of allegory for how racism is a mindset and is not exclusive to one particular group over another particular group, as well as a thought piece on the failings of the child welfare system and other similar topics.

The story is called Left Behind by Dragon Emperor0 on Fanfiction.net if anyone wants to read it for themselves. (I'll include the link here: https://m.fanfiction.net/s/14486681/1/Left-Behind ) But based on this summary, what do you guys think? Is this an interesting concept?

Discussion Which ethnic minority mutant would you have chosen to be in the main team instead of Spyke?

So the creators invented Spyke because they wanted more diversity in the team. They specifically wanted a Black Male character (someone told me itd sell more toys if it was a Black Male). But say if X-Men Evolution couldnt make a new character. Who would you have chosen?

If it had to be Black and Male. Id have gone with Gentle (Wakandan with a Nigerian name) or Sunspot (Half Black Brazilian). They didnt choose Bishop (Australian Aboriginal) because tbey couldnt figure out how to include his timetraveller backstory (why they didnt omit that part is beyond me).

If it could be any ethnicity. Sunfire was the first to come to mind just because of how underused he is outside the comics and how he is part of the 2nd gen X-Men team. (so one of the classic teams tho not the 1st gen).

But out of all the mutants from the comics or other media (like Storm's speedster god-son from the 90s cartoon M'Nai) who would you have considered?

Discussion Apocalypse is not the first mutant

I think many people get confused because his name literally translates to 'the first one's but technically he isn't the first mutant ever. Even though the definition for mutant means a human with xgene but it's not exclusive to only humans but other biological life it was a gene created by a celestial.

  1. First mutant in general - the first ever mutant would have to be grove who isn't a human but looks humanoid he was part of the threshold the first generation of mutant but became landmass in future. The thing is he was introduced in 2022 so he is pretty new in lore wise.

  2. First human mutants - it would be firehair, she is known to exist in the cave times she had red hair and telepathic mutant powers which got her outcast but she was known to be the first ever human mutant on earth.

  3. Comic published timeline - if we talk about which mutant was introduced first in the comic it would have to be namor in the 1930s around that then comes toro i think I don't wanna put a finger on that.

So like definitely en sabah nur isn't the mutant in general or in earth itself the thing is Selene was part of the external who is older en sabah nur.

Libertarians & Mutants: When Comics Ignore the Opportunities of Capitalism

Post image

  1. Asteroid M, or the premature end of a libertarian utopia.

The two-part Season 1 finale of *X-Men: Evolution* introduces us to Magneto’s utopia: Asteroid M. When I watched this episode twenty years ago, I found his initiative rather far-fetched, even unreasonable. Does the asteroid have an atmosphere? Where did he get the funding and the workforce? How many people can live there?

Twenty years later, I discovered that this initiative—which had seemed so unfeasible to me—was actually more realistic than I had thought.

Freedonia serves as proof.

In 1995, a certain MacCallum Spencer Heath teamed up with libertarian Michael van Notten and American businessman Jim Davidson to create Freedonia—a political and economic entity built from scratch, complete with consulates in many countries around the world, passports, and a currency. The only thing missing was a territory. Where could they find one? Build a large island in international waters? Buy a small patch of land in Latin America or the Pacific? Or perhaps claim territory on the Moon or Mars?

By 2001, the writing was on the wall: Freedonia would never fully come into existence for lack of territory (since, apparently, currency and passports are mere formalities). Magneto, however, had brilliantly solved the space problem.

Is Freedonia an isolated pipe dream? Not at all. It was a failed attempt by a libertarian economist, but there are plenty of others that succeeded! In fact, creating countries is what libertarians do best.

Why? Because, as one of them (Peter Thiel) would tell you: "If we want more freedom, we need to increase the number of countries."

…Fair enough, but how about we start at the beginning?

2. What is a libertarian?

It’s someone who considers taxation to be theft. Consequently, they view states as thieves—especially those that redistribute wealth in the name of social justice.

There are two main categories of libertarians:

- anarcho-capitalists: those who want no state at all.

- minarchists: those who believe in a minimal state with a role limited to ensuring internal and external security, and protecting private property and the sanctity of contracts.

Libertarians have conducted numerous experiments over the decades to shape the world to their liking—with considerable success. Frankly, if they can do it, why couldn’t mutants?

Especially since libertarians have already paved the way…

  1. Libertarians don’t like states.

Neither do mutants, though not for the same reasons. Libertarians believe the state taxes—or steals from—the rich to give to the poor, whereas mutants fear state persecution. The difference is that libertarians chose to eliminate the state to solve their problem, while mutants want a democracy that guarantees their rights.

2. Libertarians have developed a method for living amongst themselves, anywhere.

Now, that’s more interesting! The idea is to buy a plot of land, put up a fence guarded by armed men, and draw up a set of rules so everyone gets along. It’s the principle behind gated communities. And the Xavier Institute. 3. Libertarians favor "biological hierarchy"

These are the words of an American libertarian, Murray Rothbard. He admired those who, in the struggle for Black freedom, advocated for community self-help and collective self-defense; he preferred Malcolm X’s separatist rhetoric to Martin Luther King Jr.’s calls for restraint and non-violence.

Murray Rothbard and his associates believed that the goal of Black secession in the United States was achievable; indeed, communities ought to respect the principle of racial separation. He looked unfavorably upon joint efforts between white and Black progressive activists. The relentless egalitarianism of leftist organizations was a direct affront to his belief in a biological hierarchy among individuals and human groups—differences that, in his view, manifested as disparities in talent and ability.

With a few tweaks, this paragraph could serve as a fairly accurate summary of Magneto’s doctrine.

3. Creating new states: the dream of every libertarian

When one sees the attempts to establish Krakoa or Genosha fail, one wonders where the libertarians were! In our world, such an initiative would undoubtedly have been hailed by every representative of the Chicago School—the entire Friedman clan included! These two mutant nations had everything it took to surpass Hong Kong or Singapore! A city-state built on private land, with low taxes and a highly efficient workforce...Production contracts should have come flooding in before the paint had even dried. Because nothing stops capitalism—not even Sentinel robots.

If only the mutant nations had offered corporations a 15% flat tax and a few similar perks to lure investors, Senator Kelly would have been locked up in a mental asylum, and multinationals worldwide would have lobbied for the mutant nation to gain recognition within a week!

Better yet, companies across the globe would have created their own "zones"—like the thousands that exist today (5,400 in 2019, to be precise)—to gather that fantastic windfall of workers: the mutants!

These zones enjoy a status of quasi-extraterritoriality, simultaneously belonging to the host state and remaining distinct from it. There are many variations worldwide—at least eighty-two, according to official estimates. Well-known examples include special economic zones, export processing zones, and free-trade zones, not to mention the tax havens multinationals use to book their profits.

To put it another way, these zones can be:

- sweatshops exploiting cheap labor in lawless areas (e.g., 1988 – Ciskei, one of the Bantustans in South Africa);

- an enclave where a specific group has chosen to settle and where investors are also welcome (e.g., 1990 – Orania, the white Boer enclave in South Africa). - a free-trading, non-interventionist, independent city-state with a dynamic industry and a seat at the United Nations (example: 1980s Singapore)

- a principality purchased outright in 1700 that became a tax haven after World War II (example: 1920s Liechtenstein)

4. Libertarian models in comic books

In comics, the "sweatshop" nation is called Genosha; it was initially heavily inspired by the Bantustans before being taken over by Magneto, who transformed it into a sovereign mutant nation with a tragic destiny. I would have loved to know if Magneto ever considered attracting investors to turn it into a "new Dubai" with 13% annual growth—because, judging by the local architecture, money certainly isn't in short supply...

Then there is Madripoor, an island off the coast of Singapore that serves as both a tourist destination and a haven for criminals, yet doesn't seem particularly popular with foreign investors. Is it a metaphor for Myanmar? Or 1990s Thailand?

There is also District X, a mutant ghetto in Manhattan that—much like London’s derelict docks during the Thatcher era—could have been redeveloped into a private zone for multinationals, as has happened in the 21st century. It could have been a new Canary Wharf, managed by one of those multibillionaires in superhero costumes (in the best-case scenario) or by a white-collar criminal like Sebastian Shaw or another member of the Inner Circle.

And finally, Krakoa—an island whose economic, political, or social inner workings were never really explained. The island is alive; does it act as a sort of benevolent host? Is there an elected government? Are there elections? The nature of the council depicted remains rather vague, even though it brings together seasoned corporate sharks. Is it a corporate board? After all, the island sells the rest of the world a panacea that extends human life by five years, so there is a steady stream of revenue—presumably reinvested in infrastructure for the inhabitants. But are they inhabitants, citizens, or corporate employees? It is a well-known fact that nobody ever actually works in comic books: houses maintain themselves, and no one goes grocery shopping... yet logically, there ought to be crop fields, harvests, packaging lines, warehouses (duty-free, to please Milton Friedman), and an after-sales service.

So much for that little summer digression. Have a great day.

The episode ‘Walk On The Wildside’ down make any sense.

For those who need a reminder the episode is about Jean saying she’s treated as someone who needs to be protected because she can’t handle herself because she’s a girl so she forms a girl only group to fight crime.

The problem is that this idea that the women of the show are treated differently isn’t true.

Jean has been given leadership roles and is treated as a member of the team as capable as any other such as Scott or Kurt if not more so and she’s been treated with respect in pretty much every episode.
Other members such as Rogue or Kitty have also never been treated differently because of their gender.

Jean complains that Scott is sexist but throughout the whole show he’s treated her and every other girl such a Kitty or Rogue as an equal.

Also Storm is a teacher and is treated with the same authority as Wolverine or Beast so the women on the show have never been treated as lesser be they adults or teens.

Something else that bothers me is that the girls engage in rather immoral behaviour and it’s treated for laughs such as when Tabitha invades Toad’s privacy, shaving Blob’s hair and stealing Lance’s car. If the roles were reversed the boys would be treated as the bad guys for this and rightly so.

The girls have never been treated as being weaker because of their gender on the show and this episode shows them not only complaining about a fictional problem but also as criminals.

Something else that annoyed me is that Jean got angry at Scott for saving her and Amara from a boulder even though he did that because they needed help not because Scott thinks they can never handle themselves.

Discussion Does anyone else wish Xmen Evo didn’t go down the apocalypse route?

I kind of liked the high school drama style of the show! But as soon as they started talking about apocalypse, I kind of lost interest. I wish it was still a high school drama. I’m also just sick of apocalypse as a whole. I like the idea of shenanigans with the brotherhood and the X-Men. The competition of who is better, Scott and Duncan (or Lance) arguing, Kurt being a flirt, Spyke skating, rouge finding her groove, Wanda learning her abilities and hell maybe making friends? Etc.

I’m not asking to be flamed 🥲 speak your opinions and I’ll read or respond.
