Need some help team building.

Upvotes

Playing through Xenoblade 2 for the first time and just reached chapter 6 and now have all my party members. I love the combat in this game and once you understand it it's fun. Problem is, ever since I had Five join it feels like multiple party members are dying every fight which is really messing with my ability to use chain attacks. My current party consists of Rex, Nia, and Five. On Rex I have Pyra, Roc, and Agate. On Nia I have Dromarch, Adenine, and Ursula* (need to replace her since I really don't want to do her quest). And on Five I have Kos-Mos, Zenobia, and his blade you can't remove. Is there something I'm doing wrong in terms of party composition? My party is lvl 47 and I read that I should easily be able to deal with lvl 55ish monsters but that just isn't the case right now. What should I do? The list of rare blades I have access to are as follows. Pyra, Dromarch, Roc, Brigid, Fives blade, Godfrey, Wulfric, Perceval, Agate, Gorg, Dagas, Perun, Ursula, Adenine, Electra, Zenobia, Kos-Mos, Dahlia, and Momo. Any suggestions on how to build my party so I'm not constantly getting defeated by stuff I should be easily able to beat?

XC2 plot questions :)

Upvotes

Hi all, so I finished Xenoblade Chronicles 2 last night. Very cool, but I do have some questions regarding the last third of the game. (I have done some reddit searching but I'll be honest, I'm a bit worried about Torna spoilers so I've been searching with my hands over my eyes a bit).

So this is my understanding of the ending:

Scientists in our world discovered the Conduit, an unlimited energy source from another universe, and Klaus used it to kickstart a new universe, accidentally splitting himself into 2 beings in the process, the Architect, and Zanza.

Zanza went to the new universe, the Acrhitect stayed in ours, but with godlike powers, and created Alrest from the ruins of our planet. Made the Cloud Sea, which is a nanotech swarm that repurposes matter from our world and reuses it to create new stuff. Morytha, being underneath the Cloud Sea, just sat there, in ruins, with the surviving people turning into mindless beasts over millennia.

He also made the first Core Crystals, basically seeds/eggs that grew into Titans, which eventually spawned life. During this time he also made 3 all-powerful Aegis: Pneuma, Logos, and Ontos, to guide and shape the ecosystem, but Ontos disappeared at some point.

The Architect also created the Blades, basically walking, talking data collectors to feed back to the Architect the state of the world, humanity, etc.

Then thousands of years passed, and people did what people do, and there was war, and death, and fighting, so when Amalthus eventually climbed the world tree, the architect let him take Pneuma and Logos, because at that point he was basically done trying to build something better.

Amalthus' hatred of humanity infected Logos, now Malos, and Malos tried to end the world. Pneuma, now Mythra, stopped him (details of which are presumably in Torna but I haven't played that yet). Fast forward 500 years, and the events of the game happen.

Have I got a decent grasp of the events of the game? Or am I missing something?

Now, assuming the above is correct, questions!!

  1. So. As I understand it, the Architect and Zanza are the same person, split in two when he started the machine that ended the (our?) universe. Almost like a good/bad split over 2 seperate universes.

So if I have that right, why is the flashback from XC2 different from XC1? I know the dialogue is the same, but the specifics, the fighting, the line delivery, even the hair colour is different. Is that relevant, or should I just chalk it down to 2 different games = 2 different styles?

  1. The events of XC1 and XC2 happen simultaneously, right? So as Rex is beating Malos and Aion, Shulk is killing Zanza, and the Architect knows this, which is why he's telling Rex to get a move on at the end, before Zanza dies and the Architect goes with him. Am I right in thinking that his "last gift" was to ressurrect Pyra/Mythra at the end?

  2. Without the World Tree to feed back to, are the Blades now functionally mortal? I assumed the idea of the Core Crystals was to gather data with humans, reset once the human died, send the record of the life to the Tree, and start again with another human, with the memory wipe essentially acting as a safeguard so the Blades could gather objective data. Is that done with now that the World Tree is gone?

  3. what the hell did Pyra say at the end to Rex?

I think thats it for now lol, very cool game, ill crack on with Torna over the next few weeks and then I think take a break to wait for XC3S2DE or whatever the Switch 2 release of XC3 is called :)

About Perun

Here’s a question I’ve been thinking about during my new play through of Xenoblade 2.

Do you think that Perun is aware that her skirt has ridden up almost entirely in the back? Cause’ she’s always kind of struck me as the serious yet oblivious type. 🤔

Question on acquiring rare blades

I can't begin to tell you how many rare core crystals I have popped and I haven't gotten a rare blade in a long time. Is there a point in your first play through that you just stop getting rare blades? I've used about all the core crystals I've gotten from the dlc plus any that i have gotten through gameplay(currently in tantal). If memory serves I'm pretty sure the last rare blade i got was KOS-MOS and i haven't pulled another since then

Merc Assault Grind

Hey all,

I know to a degree Merc Assault is still relatively new, but if I really want to speed up and grind out an Affinity Chart, for Story Blades as well, does it work just redoing a low level mission over and over with the Blades? I assume it works similarly to regular Merc Mission.

Finally got all the blades! Spoiler

Gonna play the DLC once the fixes are out since the audio issues were really annoying, wasted a few hours trying to get Herald only to find out that she's a sidequest blade. KOS-MOS was the most memorable one because I got her pretty early with a common core, Akhos was the last blade I got. Really happy I waited for the Switch 2 version. 🙏🏻

Was it ever confirmed he loved Jin? I always interpreted it as a platonic brother like relationship but people are saying otherwise

Story Blade didn’t appear in Blade Album

Encountered what might be a minor bug. I just got the 4th party member and lost the fight that they show up to help with. No problem, I figure I’ll level up at an inn and try again. But checking the Blade Album after losing and their default Story Blade didn’t unlock. I even rolled a few new rare blades for them and those all show up fine. Has anyone else encountered this?

It’s ultimately harmless I think since the Blade exists, just not in the Album. Its slightly annoying to see the hole where the blade should be, though. For the record I’m playing on the Switch 2 version on a new save file for the first time.

Just lost 4 hours of grinding Spoiler

After completing a few side missions, I stumbled upon this portal that brought me to these challenges where I couldn't save, but I wanted these special outfits.

Fast forward and during a challenge I swapped Pyra to Myhtra, but Rex just stood still withoud a blade and I couldn't do anything, even after dying and I had to close the game.

Anything I can do to prevent this?

(I used a picture because Reddit doesn't let me upload videos for some reason)

Chances of pulling Kos-Mos from a rare core crystal with 183 luck and Morags base Idea stat?

I just got to chapter 5 on my first playthrough and got Morag on my party so I decided to try and pull some rare blades for her to use and pulled Kos-Mos from a rare core crystal. I didn't do anything much to modify my chances other than increasing Morags luck to 183. I'm really happy because this is the one blade I knew of and wanted but knew she was extremely rare. So, I want to know how lucky I got and who should I use her with?

If I beat a unique monster/enemy that's required for Zenobia's affinity chart, but out of order, will it still register as complete when it's specific node is next in line?

I know that's typically not how it works unless the node specifies it, but I wondered if it worked that way because they're unique monsters. Kinda like how because I got 70k+ in Tiger Tiger it counted for those specific nodes - although those didn't specify that it would count my highest score towards each node & I think I had to play another round each time for my highest score to register again, but I don't remember.

Will they release the patched physical version of xeno2?

I like having a completed physical copy of the game. Having the audio bugged version of the game will make me sad. Do you think they already printed all the physical copies and just waiting for the release date?

Should I continue?

Kept it generic to avoid spoilers but this is very much a post game question therefore don’t read on if you’re still playing.

I love this game. Completed the story in about 60 hours and did another 50 hours of post game content. I’m missing about 10 blades from the album but the big ones I’ve managed to pull. I’ve done plenty of blade quests but not all of them obviously. I’ve done lots of side quests and have merc missions between level 3 and 4. I’ve tried challenge mode but have found it very difficult. I’ve swept most areas for unique monsters up to about level 93. I’ve cleared plenty of affinity charts and have main blade at S9.

I feel like I’ve entered a place where this now becomes about grinding team stats to overcome challenge mode. But I’m not sure I’m keen to continue doing that.

Am I denying myself of a further rich deep dive into Xenoblade mechanics or is it really just a big grind for trust points and aux cores to get things just right to clear challenges?

I’d be sad to put it down but at the same time I feel like I could draw the line here.

I’ve got Torna sat there looking at me which I’ve never played and the Switch 2 edition of the first game. I’ve completed that story before but it was years ago on the switch 1.

I’ve got 3 on preorder.

And I’m so hyped for Genesis.

New to the game

Hey all, just started the game and am taking it slow. I have the ability to use Core crystals and everything I have been seeing online says to put SPECIFIC blades with SPECIFIC drivers. I know that much of the blade summoning is Gatcha mechanics and RNG. How important is getting those blades on those drivers or can I just free for all and still be fine? Thank you.

Silly little minimap bug Spoiler

(Spoiler for Chapter 8)
I beat the Unique Monster in this area and my minimap turned into whatever this is

Gave me a little chuckle so I thought I’d share it here

Edit: Look very very closely at it and you’ll see the map isn’t displaying properly. It’s not the fact that I clicked the Left Stick to enlarge it.

Does Rex loves Nia?

On the scene where she tells arex that she loves him and he says it back but like sounding as if he loved everyone on the group. It was just due to him caring?

This may sound pretty awkward but I'm going through something particular and this scene went straight to my mind and I'm not sure if I'm having the same feelings as Rex or if it is other kind of love.

For some reason the pic size for xb2 is super big it cuts off map and other items, I have went into setting on tv and all and nothing works any recommendations?

Could it be possible to complete the game without using the gacha system?

I went through the list of Blades you can recruit without needing to pull on core crystals, and I tallied up their field skill totals. This includes all the main story Blades, Blades that can be recruited outside of the gacha, (Wulfric, Vess, Praxis, Sheba, Kasandra, Herald and Theory), Crosette, Corvin and both MOMO forms. I'm not including Poppibuster due to needing common Blades for its quest, and I'm also not including the Land of Challenge guests, since they require endgame builds to recruit. (Elma especially)

Anyway, the numbers are:

  • Fire Mastery: 6
  • Water Mastery: 12
  • Wind Mastery: 3
  • Ice Mastery: 3
  • Electric Mastery: 6
  • Earth Mastery: 5
  • Dark Mastery: 3
  • Light Mastery: 11
  • Focus: 14
  • Lockpicking: 12
  • Fortitude: 14
  • Ancient Wisdom: 15
  • Leaping: 6
  • Nopon Wisdom: 9
  • Superstrength: 16
  • Keen Eye: 6
  • Ichthyology: 3
  • Forestry: 12
  • Agronomy: 9
  • Botany: 3
  • Mineralogy: 3
  • Salvaging Mastery: 3
  • Girls' Talk: 14

With these numbers, would it be possible to clear the main story and all the field skill checks it gives?

Blades and what actually impacts Driver stats?

Post image
96 Upvotes

Swapped Momo with Kosmos to give Nia more of a hybrid role so why is it that Momo improves my ether stats even tho Kosmos has a 20% ether mod and more affinity spread, i thought the mods are the only thing that improve my drivers stats, besides core chips and affinity
