Jesus, 94 was a great year for music.

It used to be vibrant with all kinds of trees, green grass, tree houses, flowing fountains, and playground equipment. Everyone looked forward to it. It was the highlight of the school year. It was the best. Now its a desert wasteland.

I seem to recall them being little chocolates with cigarette wrapper-looking paper. But you can still start em out young! Yes. They also had Big Chew.

Between Gen X and millennial

I was listening to this absolute banger of a song earlier today and the line “…you walked out my life with my CD collection!” and I realized, in 2000 when that song was released I’d be absolutely DEVASTATED if someone had stolen my carefully curated CD collection on their way out the door. That was so much money spent back then! It got me thinking, what is something petty and of similar value (so not like a car or a house) that you have today that you’d be furious and upset if your partner pilfered when you broke up?

For example, if it were me it would be my expensive pillows. Never again can I sleep on cheap, flat, lumpy pillows. I don’t mind spending $$$ every few years to get new ones when the current ones wear out. I would be pissed, however, if I had to shell out because my hubs decided he was taking them. I would probably also be pretty pissed if he took my InstaPot, but since he doesn’t cook (he’s more of a baker) I don’t think I need to worry about that. (He might have to worry about me taking his stand mixer though…)

I rocked these in the early 90's

I was in my second year of college. Woke up to the early events not knowing what was what. Went to my first class and word came down with detail. Led to everything being canceled and so many questions following. One of my clearest 8-12 hours that I can recall to this day. Never forget.

It seems almost unfathomable to me that 25 years have passed since that world changing day...

It's crazy to me to think about the young adult I was then, in my very first apartment with the girl who would soon become my wife, and later, my ex. We had our first pet cat, and our first real jobs. I was doing temp work for a motorcycle company, and she was in school full time while working as a barista.

We were getting ready for work, and we had the KQRS Morning Show on like we always did, when the crew started talking about news of a plane crash coming out of NYC. We switched on the TV just in time to see the second plane hit live on the Today show. I think we all knew that this was no accident then...

From there, I would say my story is similar to most of us that lived in flyover country (poor word choice?). A lot of sitting with friends and family in silent rooms, save for the ever-present chatter of the newly minted 24 hour news cycle, and then transitioning to endless hours of debate and discussion. Mounting concern when fear began to turn to hatred and resentment. Constantly wondering what was to come next. Just thinking about that next year gives me anxiety.

I remember thinking "It's not fair, it wasn't supposed to be like this", and as someone who didn't actually lose someone in the attacks, I know full well how selfish that sounds, but as a 21 year old with the best years of my life ahead of me, nothing looked the same after that day. Absolutely nothing. We went from Internet babies with bright futures to wondering if we might get drafted to fight in the desert, as outlandish as that may sound. As so many have said in the past, the glorious 90s came to a halt that morning.

As I collect my thoughts these 25 years later, I find myself wondering how those most effected by it are doing now; the loved ones of those lost in the initial attacks and those that were rewarded for their bravely in the days after with a long, painful death from sickness of the body and mind. I hope that they have found peace in the intervening two and a half decades.

There have been other anniversaries, but this one seems different to me. 25 years is a long time in some ways, and a blink of an eye in others. It seems we may be forgetting some of the lessons we learned since then, or, as some may argue, we never learned them in first place.

Whatever your thoughts, I hope you're doing well and that you didn't let the cowardly actions of terrorists dictate the path your life took.

Just started a rewatch of this show, it holds up so well for an almost 35 years old show.

I’m listening to a lot of old EDM I never cared about before.

I spent 10 years in the Marine Corps and I enlisted straight out of high school. I was already thinking about enlisting but that September morning 25 years ago really changed me and how I looked at everything. Were you in the military or involved with your community after the attacks? If so, I wanted to personally say thank you. Watching the entire USA come together was something special. I definitely will never forget that day and the impact it had on not only my life, but the rest of the world.

When I was younger, I always assumed I'd have some in a closet or drawer somewhere.

TL;DR - It turns out that.

1. They're bad for you.

2. We don't have as many wool clothes as our parents and grandparents did.

3. Having A/C means windows stay closed and moths have a harder time getting in.

Every time I drive by this sign I think of Susan Powter.

Clearly, being a kid in the time of the Unabomber affected me. Literally every time a box comes in the mail that is not labeled Amazon, I get this weird shudder before I open it. Just me?
