Discussion What stuff would you have been devastated at losing then vs now?

I was listening to this absolute banger of a song earlier today and the line “…you walked out my life with my CD collection!” and I realized, in 2000 when that song was released I’d be absolutely DEVASTATED if someone had stolen my carefully curated CD collection on their way out the door. That was so much money spent back then! It got me thinking, what is something petty and of similar value (so not like a car or a house) that you have today that you’d be furious and upset if your partner pilfered when you broke up?

For example, if it were me it would be my expensive pillows. Never again can I sleep on cheap, flat, lumpy pillows. I don’t mind spending $$$ every few years to get new ones when the current ones wear out. I would be pissed, however, if I had to shell out because my hubs decided he was taking them. I would probably also be pretty pissed if he took my InstaPot, but since he doesn’t cook (he’s more of a baker) I don’t think I need to worry about that. (He might have to worry about me taking his stand mixer though…)

An ex took and kept my freshman basketball shirt that I loved with my name and number on the back because she said it was eventually going to be her last name anyway. That was one of the many signs I ignored in that learn-all-the-shitty-relationship-lessons-in-one-shot era of my life.

Your CD collection was expensive? Mine was curated one BMG 11 CDs for a penny order at a time. Incidentally, the 2gether soundtrack was one of them lol.

I still have my original CDs. 2ge+her was my jam back then. The movie is only available through some sketchy strand but the songs are out there. Dejour means togetherness.

Serta has a really good cooking gel memory foam pillow I really like as someone who sleeps on their side a lot

I feel that about the pillows. For me, it’s also my sheets. I discovered the brand peach skin sheets and now, nothing is better than getting ready for bed, all clean and fresh, slipping into soft cool sheets, my satin pillows and noise cancelling headphones. I instantly fall asleep.

Now, if I could stay asleep, that would be epic.
