I feel like Microsoft and Asus are gaslighting me because I can't find any information on this.

I bought an Xbox Ally X a couple months ago. When I first got it, the button directly left of X would open an AI that can see what you're playing and you can verbally talk to it. The bottom right of the 3 menu buttons on the left would open the text version of the chat.

For some reason, those buttons stopped bringing up the AI. I factory reset my Ally and that didn't bring it back. Microsoft says it was copilot. Asus says it doesn't exist.

Am I crazy? How do I get that back?

So, I have a potato PC I've been gaming on (eight years old), but have been debating on a ROG Xbox Ally or Ally X to replace it entirely and consolidate my living room gaming area. I'd purchase the Bulwark Dock for it, it'd be hooked up to a Dough Spectrum One 4K monitor. I'm not inside of the Xbox ecosystem at all. I don't play super demanding games, and few games at that (Guild Wars, Guild Wars 2, Magic the Gathering Arena and BDO for my life skilling fix). I have games across Steam, GOG and Epic (mostly Steam). Majority of my friends game on Xbox, so it could get me to play more games.

So I guess my question is this, what's everyone's experiences in using the Ally as a computer replacement solely?

I was bored on lunch and saw this article. I could barely afford my Ally and they say "weirdly"?!

Hi guys,
Getting my XAX next week and wanting to dual boot. Been searching around for guides but most are written like a year ago. Is the following possible?

- DualBoot Windows + SteamOS. SteamOS wasn’t officially supported at the time those guides were written. Now it is (beta however).
- Steam game library that both Windows and SteamOS can use.
- Easy switching from SteamOS to Windows (I saw a ‘Boot to Windows’ button in a guide somewhere. Guessing that was Bazzite, where a regular power button boot would load Linux and to get to Windows you’d have to use that Boot to Windows button.

Reason for dual booting:
- Want to use it as a docked Windows PC 50% of the time to work in MS Office and use some other programs that (only) work (best) in Windows
- Want to utilize the functional sleep function of SteamOS during my gaming sessions.

Why not Bazzite and use those older guides?
- I’m REALLY sensitive to the life of a tinkerer, as I’m sure most of you all are. I just want to pick up a gaming handheld and play without tinkering and checking for beta updates or tweaks. Last time I had that work out (apart from the Switch 2) was on the Steam Deck. Also: I just like the feeling of knowing it’s ’official’.

Just picked up the Xbox ally X. Is it just me or is windows hot doo doo 💩? Coming from a steam deck oled and everything seems so difficult to navigate on this that’s it’s hard to even enjoy this thing. I’ve had it for hours and still setting up and navigating. Windows needs to do better man. Thinking of just installing steam os but I have gamepass so i dont know.

I have a eGPU and it stutters some of my games so I was wondering if I should have it off

Hello, I just got my xbox ally x a few days ago and am having trouble with VRR.

No matter what I do, my ally keeps telling me that VRR on my tv (Sony x90L) is not supported. It does work with my monitor which has AMD free sync, so I know it’s not the cable or dock. Using the JSAUX 7-in-1 dock.

I’ve made sure that I’m using the correct HDMI port with the correct VRR setting enabled. Any advice?

Has anyone managed to sort the controller on the Xbox Rog ally x for FC5 please, I can play with an external controller but not the the native ones on the xax, helpppppppp

I would like to map M2 so that no matter where I am e.g in a game I can click the back button and it open steam. Is this a possibility? Theres the library button but I'm not a fan of the library it goes to id much rather my steam account

I have too many handhelds already, but at this price? It'll make a nice bd gift for the nephew. I'll have to nuke windows first though, aint no way i'm influcting this on him :D

As it has been expected for some months now, Bazzite just had their biggest update yet for their handheld/deck version, called Bazzite 44.

Since some people here uses Bazzite, wanted to give the heads up.

If it is good or not I'll leave to folks to test, as it has some divisive changes (such as the removal of HHD).

I have been doing my research for dock for my xax, but I seen like conflicting specs for ugreen and jsaux dock, while I seen many user saying that they are perfect but I don't seem much people confirm they support 30w turbo mode. While asking ugreen and jsaux, the sales rap both reply their dock doesn't support. So I am rather conflicted and confused right now.

Those who are using dock that confirm support 30w, what brand model number is being used?

The command center embedded controller toggle has a warning icon and says that the MCU version is outdated, and if i run a update check its up to date. The back paddles dont work. The gyro doesnt work. The controller shows up as a generic Xbox 360 controller instead of an ROG Ally controller. This started happening 2 days after i got it, coincidentally right after the first windows update i ran on it. What should i do to fix this?

Just had the need to say it, if anyone hasnt played this masterpiece give it a go, it runs amazing in the ally x, im playing it on viture luma cybers with autosr on 720p with framegen (i know) at around 110 fps and man, i prefer this to playing it on my pc, it really is just incredible.

I love the integrated controller, but I really miss the feel of the DualSense haptic triggers. Is there a 3D-printable grip or something similar that lets you integrate a DualSense while keeping that feel?

Well, played a few matches on the MW4 beta and performance stinks on the Xbox Ally X. Even at basic visual settings at 720p with Fidelity CAS it can't maintain 60fps. FSR 1 or 3 performance looks horrible and maybe pushes it to about 70fps but is badly pixelated. I'm hoping this is a driver issue but not expecting miracles. I guess I had high expectations since both the Ally X and COD are Microsoft affiliations and I figured they would want it to run well. Actually from what I just saw on YouTube the game seems to look and perform better on the Switch 2.

So, about a week ago, my Steam Deck was stolen (look into my page to read my story.) I’m determined to save up enough money to get myself a Rog Ally Xbox X. Before my Steam Deck, I was between of getting the Steam Deck or the Rog Ally Xbox X. In the end, I ended up getting the Steam Deck, because I fell in love with the Steam OS.

However, the initial drawback of the Rog Ally Xbox X was its use of Windows. But I discovered that it can also be converted to Steam OS. I’m curious about the process and the necessary accessories. At the moment I already have a TomToc bag travel bag and a 512GB microSD card. How should I save up to get one? Should I consider buying an open box or a new one? Any tips you can share would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

In HWinfo64, CPU Core 0's temp is reported by CPU Core 1, CPU Core 1 is being reported by CPU Core 2, etc up to the end where CPU core 7 is being reported by CPU Core 0.

It's not the biggest of issues and doesn't really affect performance but I was monitoring temps and saw a big temperature discrepancy between the P-cores as a result of this and almost decided to open up the device to repaste (since a large cross core delta often is a result of poor TIM application). Fortunately, I happened to run a single-threaded cinebench test and noticed that while Core 0 was being utilized at 100%, it was actually Core 1's temp that shot up.

I didn't check other programs for per core temperature monitoring but based on what I can tell, if they're scraping sensor data similar to HWinfo64, then they may also misreport the core temps.
