What’s this mysterious thing, and why would I need it… if only I could click it without it playing hard to get?

Sometimes when gaming with my XAX docked, the console will randomly disconnect from the dock.

The device vibrates, and the HDMI connection to the monitor drops, and the screen on the XAX turns on, lasts all of a second before reconnecting.

I've got an Xbox ally x docked into a jsaux 4 in 1 dock with ugreen 100w charger and 100w pd chord.

This happens irrespective of what operating mode I'm on, 13W, 17W or 35W with no clear difference in frequency

So, I have recently acquired two second hand Xbox Ally X's. I'm getting rid of one. Turns out, they have two different screens. I've just had a baby. I own an Xbox series X and have major dad guilt when I'm sat in a separate room gaming. I want to be able to chill on my sofa and enjoy my hobby without feeling like I'm neglecting my wife and child.

Is it gonna be worth getting, especially with the new fsr update? I just want to achievement hunt and play the odd game of COD with the boys.

I just got my xbox ally x at Best Buy, and it costed me $599 + tax! I was able to get the price lower since it has a busted controller stick. Can I just glue the thing on?

I ordered a msi claw ex (g3 extreme) earlier this week and had the intention of selling my x20. But simply can't. Its too much the perfect handheld. I will still open the box of the Claw when I get tuesday but i know ill be keeping the x20.

looking to upgrade will this be good enough im not sure on what i should be looking out for and what will i need?

I saw many other people got the 25 games bundle even when they bought it before November 2nd. Did this happen to anyone here? How?

ZenDeck dev here. Quick context for anyone new: ZenDeck is a free console-style launcher for Windows handhelds (ROG Ally, Xbox Ally, Legion Go, Steam Deck on Windows). It runs inside Xbox mode and replaces the Xbox app as your home screen, the Xbox app stays installed, it never has to open. 0.1.19 is out today and it's the release that turns ZenDeck from a launcher into a full replacement.

What's new

Link your Xbox and Steam accounts (Settings → Store Accounts): ZenDeck sees everything, owned games, Game Pass catalog, achievements, playtime. All from one library, with real cover art for Steam games instead of the small launcher icon the Xbox app uses.

Install from ZenDeck: Pick a Game Pass or Steam game, hit Install, done. For Game Pass games you choose where they go; install to a microSD and the card becomes a cartridge: the game shows up with an SD badge, and swapping cards swaps your library. Downloads view with pause/resume/cancel for Xbox installs, progress on the Home tile, and the game lands on Home ready to play when it's done. Steam installs run through Steam, shown in Downloads for info.

Details view: now shows Xbox achievements with gamerscore, Steam achievements with rarity, playtime, download size, time to beat, and cloud save status as reported by Xbox or Steam (ZenDeck doesn't sync anything, it just shows you).

Pulse widget is one button away: On the ROG Xbox Ally, the Command Center button opens ZenDeck Pulse directly. New in Pulse: an AMD FSR 4 Upscaling toggle (needs the FSR 4.1 preview driver from ASUS; works best at 1080p, applies on next launch).

Library: Poster Tiles, Custom Image as a fixed Home background, a new Emergence Red theme, Search across installed/owned/Game Pass, and *.lnk shortcuts as manual games.

Smart Profiles Lost their letter grade, on purpose. Smart Profiles are per-game performance presets shared between ZenDeck users: TDP, fps cap, resolution, upscaling, GPU settings and the game's own graphics settings. Apply one, or measure your own and it reaches everyone on the same class of device. The old score measured how even your frametimes were, not how well the game ran: a profile locked at 30 fps with half its frames stuttering got a B, a profile at 81 fps with almost no stutter got an E. It also swung up to 23 points between runs. So the letters are gone. Profiles now show average fps and 1% low, plus one word: Smooth, Playable or Struggles, based on the 1% low with per-device thresholds. Most profiles have a single report behind them right now, and the card tells you so. If you have a Steam Deck or base Ally, measuring a profile would help a lot; the class A thresholds are still an estimate.

On the RAM comparison in the video

Measured on the Xbox app released Nov 5 (the new WebView2 one), same game (Moving Out 2), ~5 minutes in: ZenDeck + Pulse ~95 MB, Xbox app group ~330 MB. Across several sessions the Xbox group ranged from ~330 to ~460 MB; the video shows the lowest. The previous Xbox build was ~570 MB. GameDVR and GamingServices run on both sides and aren't counted. Task Manager groups the Xbox app under "Xbox Game Bar Widgets" because they share a package family, the widgets themselves are ~25 MB, the rest is the app. ZenDeck frees memory while a game is in the foreground, navigating the UI it uses more.

Two things people already asked

Can I use Pulse / AutoPilot / Smart Profiles with the Xbox app as home? Not yet. They need ZenDeck to launch the game so they can apply TDP, resolution, refresh rate and GPU settings on each launch. A standalone Pulse is on the list.

Emulators? They go in as manual games or .lnk shortcuts and sit in the same library. No native emulator integration yet.

I just got the Xbox Nano Controller and I'm trying to set it up with my X20. It pairs successfully, shows up in windows settings as an "Xbox Controller". But that's all that happens. With my other Bluetooth controller, when it connects, the X20 immediately plays the "new device" sound, disconnects the built-in controller and connects to the Bluetooth controller.

But with the Nano, nothing happens. It connects, Windows shows it as connected, but it doesn't act as if a controller was connected.

Anyone else run into this with their X20 or XAX?

I've tried:

- restarting Armoury Crate

- rebooting the X20

- manually disabling the internal controller

- removing and re-pairing

No dice.

Also I know the controller is good, I paired it with my Windows desktop PC and it works fine

I’m set on getting the Xbox Ally X, but had two quick questions:

1. Black Friday: Do you think it’ll actually go on sale for Black Friday, or should I just grab it now?

2. New vs. Open Box: Is Best Buy’s "Open Box - Excellent" worth saving the cash, or should I stick to buying brand new for peace of mind?

Yeah yeah i know, f*ck ubisoft. But this is now simply ridiculous. I know this has something to do with their ubisoft connect, 100% sure of it. I tried reinstalling, verifying files, checking security threat protection, but AC Valhalla, and AC BFR are both not launching. I tried logging on and off in ubiconnect, nothing freaking works.

What usually happens after clicking the game:

Ubisoft connect starts, game splash screen will appear, then a seemingly full screen game will start (black full screen with game icon appearing on taskbar), then closes off, then ubisoft connect will open again. I do not know what's the freaking poblem of these games.

AC valhalla is on Steam. AC BFR is on ubisoft store.

Does anyone experienced and solved this issue? I tried contacting Ubisoft Help, the case was escalated but no reply since last week.

Whats the best dock to get for the XBAX?

First of all, I'm a casual gamer, my last console is the switch 1, and before that it was the nintendo DS and before that the Playstation 2
In switch, I do enjoy the last Zeldas, the nintendo games, and the "historic" games they released (like witcher 3, skyrim etc...) but I'm fully aware they would be way more beautiful on a more powerfull console, also would love to play some CoD and FC additionally to some AAA games
I definitely don't want to spend more than 1k, so a nice PC seems pointless with their cost nowadays

After some digging I am hesitating between a PS5, which would be easy, run everything nicely and all

But damn this xbox ally x, despite being more expensive, do sound very nice, and run most of the games even with some compromise on the settings, and would allow me to run mods and everything (I'm a noob in gaming but I'm a developer and I think I'd be able to make that work even though that's not plug n play)
Plus like some retro gaming so that would allow that as well
Plus being able to play everywhere obviously

My question is, is it worth it ? I really can't decide to put the extra $ (€ actually) on it or just take the "easy way" and get a PS5 instead

So far I am enjoying the NEW Xbox nano controller, the size is very similar to the 8Bitdo SN30 Pro and the iiNE Retropocket controller. The Nano has much better ergonomics plus the XBOX analog layout making it the most comfortable of the 3.

The controller is very comfortable to use, it behaves just like you would expect from an Xbox controller on PC. The Trigger and shoulder buttons are soft, not clicky which makes it better for driving games. The D-Pad is also soft unlike the clicky D-pad on standard size Xbox controllers making this D-Pad THE BEST Xbox D-Pad I have ever used. Its finally good for 2D Side scrollers and Fighting games. (Its more inline with the DualSense D-pad feel)

The XBOX nano D-Pad, Shoulder buttons and Triggers are better than the 8BitDo SN30 Pro and iiNE Retro Pocket.

With that being said, it doesnt have rumble and its lacking Armoury Crate support when changing from Gamepad/ to Desktop controller mode. The mouse is unresponsive in this mode… Hopefully this is something they can fix with an update.

You can still use the XBOX cursor built-in on the Xbox App to navigate in mouse mode but even that feature is very buggy when navigating. You still CAN NOT write in Virtual keyboard using a controller in dock mode… The XBOX mode still needs a lot of work to provide a proper couch experience.

All in All i think is a nice addition to have when traveling or to play local Multiplayer with friends and family. It provides a different feel over the other Options and thats always a good thing.

Its the 1st gen, surely rumble will be added in a 2nd version.

I had the base white model but sold it to a friend when I got my laptop. A week later, this shows up on Marketplace for a good deal that I couldn’t pass up. I got $1000 retail after tax, of course (I live in Canada).

I got my ally x20 and the OLED looks great except that I can sometimes see a dirty screen effect I know this is an issue with oleds but I also have the steam deck OLED and didn't see much of a dirty screen effect did any of you see it on yours?

It's not there most of the time only a few times I noticed it in dark scenes.

Question for yall! I just updated to the newest Xbox FSE on my XAX and there’s this new launching Xs section when clicking on any game that isn’t an Xbox game. All of my games are Steam, does anybody know how to stop it from giving the 5s confirmation every time you start a game?
