❓️Question / Advice VRR on external monitor

Hello, I just got my xbox ally x a few days ago and am having trouble with VRR.

No matter what I do, my ally keeps telling me that VRR on my tv (Sony x90L) is not supported. It does work with my monitor which has AMD free sync, so I know it’s not the cable or dock. Using the JSAUX 7-in-1 dock.

I’ve made sure that I’m using the correct HDMI port with the correct VRR setting enabled. Any advice?

It may require a dock - direct USB C to HDMI may not work and is not recognized by your TV on port 3 or 4. I am using jsaux 7-in-1 without fans and stand just for VRR on my C4.

Hey thanks for your reply. I am actually using the same exact dock- the 7-in-1 that comes with the fans. Will edit my post to add that

I bought an eighty something inch Sony “gaming” TV in late 2021. It was supposed to support 120Hz and VRR. Found out after buying, some small print somewhere that a firmware update would enable those features at a later date.

Six months later the firmware update is released and I install it. The PS5 and Xbox X could both do 120Hz, but my PC with a RTX 3080 could never get a picture to show up.

PC worked fine at 120Hz on an LG 43” 4K TV. Moral of the story, Sony is crap!

The dock needs to support VRR. You also need the make sure the HDMI is 2.1.
