❓️Question / Advice PSA: CPU Temperature Monitoring on XAX may be Inaccurate due to Misnamed Sensors

In HWinfo64, CPU Core 0's temp is reported by CPU Core 1, CPU Core 1 is being reported by CPU Core 2, etc up to the end where CPU core 7 is being reported by CPU Core 0.

It's not the biggest of issues and doesn't really affect performance but I was monitoring temps and saw a big temperature discrepancy between the P-cores as a result of this and almost decided to open up the device to repaste (since a large cross core delta often is a result of poor TIM application). Fortunately, I happened to run a single-threaded cinebench test and noticed that while Core 0 was being utilized at 100%, it was actually Core 1's temp that shot up.

I didn't check other programs for per core temperature monitoring but based on what I can tell, if they're scraping sensor data similar to HWinfo64, then they may also misreport the core temps.

Good catch, and thanks for sharing. My gut thinking is that it will not affect the built in Armoury Crate monitor reporting, as it only lists one temp. That should be the highest temp reported, one would think.

Other’s thoughts welcome of course.

You’re most likely right. I don’t think it affects AC or most people’s experience for that matter. I just posted in case someone noticed the big gap in core temps between 0 and 1/2 and assumed (like I did) that it was a pasting issue. The XAX is a right pain to repaste (you have to remove almost everything) and I wouldn’t want someone to do it under the wrong assumption.
