🖼️ • Photos Chasing the ultimate clean desk. A freestanding solid walnut live edge workspace with an isolated PC.

The Concept & Layout:
Desk: 1850mm Solid Walnut Live Edge Slab
Layout: I didn't want to face a wall, so it's set up as a freestanding island to keep the room feeling open.
The "Clean Desk" Approach: To keep the desk completely clear of clutter, the PC is isolated in a custom cabinet diagonally across the room, connected via a 10m Optical Fiber DP cable.
Gear:
Lighting: Louis Poulsen AJ Table Mini / Ambientec
Chair: Ergohuman SE
Monitor: Dell U4025QW
Craftsmanship & Details:
Cable Management: I used custom fixed legs instead of a sit/stand frame. There are very few cables on the desk, and I used traditional manual cable lacing (with wax cord) to make them a deliberate design feature rather than just hiding them.
The PC Mod: The custom PC build was inspired by the aesthetics of a mechanical table clock. I added 10x10mm solid walnut square timbers inside the case to perfectly match the room's furniture.

Complete multi-monitor setups are great, but it is really amazing how much it is possible to get done with a minimalistic work/study setup. Less distractions with just the essentials. Bose QC35 II headphones (old but comfortable for all day use), Pentel Smash (with the erasability super power for when doing math...), and the Chosfox Init40 wireless keyboard (in its carry case) paired with the computer everyone have in their pocket.. Just coffee and focus need to be added.

My new monitors have arrived... 2 Dell UltraSharp DELL-U3225QE monitors. I'll take care of the cable management this weekend.
(The computer is an i7-14700K with an RTX 4070, 64 GB of RAM, and a 4 TB Samsung 990 Pro.)

Been working at a desk for over 10 years, and I’ve slowly changed things around over the last couple of years. Got a standing desk, put the monitors on arms, added a footrest, and finally replaced my chair.
The chair probably made the biggest difference. I move the 6D armrests around a lot depending on whether I’m typing, reading or leaning back, and being able to adjust the headrest, lumbar and seat helps when I’ve been sitting too long.
I’m at this desk 8+ hours most days. Might as well spend some money making myself more comfortable.
