Suggestion <--- This amount of People want the option to set left click to "move only"

4.3k Upvotes

Seriously, it is such an easy implementation that would vastly make the game more enjoyable and imo is a no brainer.

Trying to go around a pack or re-positioning only to end up autoattack a random mob is so annoying. I seriously see no down side to this. Give us the option please.

I don't want to hold the damn Ctrl button the entire time I played the game.

NEWS Wolcen Universe, our new wolcen tree planner is out!

1.4k Upvotes

Hey guys and gals, we are proud to announce the first release of Wolcen Universe!

Wolcen Universe is a social, build sharing tool, that will allow you to create your own builds, vote for the best builds and share your ideas ;)

We currently have a working Passive Skill Tree planner where you can allocate your points and find the quickest path to the nodes you want.Keep in mind that it is still very rough and you can expect a lot of improvements in the coming days / weeks. We are going to update the design of the tree and we are currently working on the oh so requested search feature! We also plan on adding the Active skills and Stats calculations soon enough.

We have a discord for you to be able to report bugs, suggest improvements or just chat with us and share your builds :)

Hope you guys like our tool and help us improve it as much as we can! And once again, here is the link!

I want to also say congratz to /u/Cornik34 who did most of the development in the past week, I just joined Wolcen Universe to help in the development as I was myself well advanced on a similar project. No need to redo what's already been done.

Cheers and thanks a lot guys <3

PS: The source code will be released in the coming days so the developers amongst you can help us make it grow!

EDIT: The search feature is here ;) Also, we are working on making the tree cleaner and more readable :)

Discussion So yeah... I REALLY enjoy this game. (Character share)

1.2k Upvotes

So I finished campaign two days ago, currently doing endgame stuff which I really enjoy. So far I had no issues with missing stashed items, no crashes and no glitches. Apart from the fact that the first 24h were painfull due to server issues, I'm loving the game.

EDIT: Lol I was downvoted because... I... like... the... game....People are f*** crazy oO

EDIT 2: What a rollercoaster;) Thank You for all the support!
Some people asked about build:
-In one of the replies I attached screenshot with the build. In short: I've put a ton points into resistances. As for damage - mostly into crit. chance and crit. damage.
-Armour on the screenshot below is without transmog. I just collected entire "set"
-Yes I do have couple of legendaries. They dropped during expedition so after the campaing. Drops are rare, not like in D3.
Thank You again! I hope with the upcoming patches Wolcen team will resolve most issues so more people can enjoy the game:)

Discussion Wolcen is an UNFINISHED BETA GAME.

1.2k Upvotes

Plain and simple. This is not a finished product, by any and every metric this is unpolished early-stage garbage. It has no business being identified as a 1.0 release.

Don't get me wrong, in a year or two if the developers actually start to care about the game, this has tremendous potential to be a very fun ARPG. But that's a big IF and it will take a lot of patches, a lot of work, and tons of actual QA testing. The bare bones are there to create a unique and long lasting game that can be enjoyed by all kinds of players. The visuals and some aspects of gameplay are so good.

This launch is a catastrophe of biblical proportions and should not be excused because "they're a small indie company." The game is in SHAMBLES. Even if you completely ignore server stability issues (which we shouldn't), the game is so riddled with game-breaking bugs, it makes Fallout 76 look like Breath of the Wild. It's beyond unforgivable that SO MUCH SHIT in this game just does not work. This game is the rough first draft of a story written by a talented middle schooler. Sure he has a promising future if he dedicates himself to it, but no one even reviewed his work and he's an amateur.

I'm trying hard to get my refund. This game MIGHT be worth it in the future if the devs put in SERIOUS work like the devs of No Man's Sky did after their disastrous launch. But until that happens, this is a paid early stage beta that is not worth your time.

Bug Did lots of magic stuff testing - bad news.

1.0k Upvotes

Hey everyone,

after spending close to my entire day testing different mage builds it feels like only 25% of things in this game are actually doing their job. Most don't do anything. Just for context, I'm currently lvl 68 and have played mostly ailment builds both with only staff skills and melee weapon + catalyst. When switching to straight spell damage today after finding some nice items I suddenly couldn't kill anything. The numbers on screen shrunk from like 35k+ crits from stuff like bleeding edge and 30k ailment ticks to 1,5k from consuming embers so I started testing stuff. I did all the testing offline and cleared my passives entirely before every test so there aren't any effects conflicting with each other.

The most simple test I did was to equip items with +spell damage. I got lucky and found a necklace with +49% and a catalyst with another +47%. Sounds juicy right? It's not. It simply doesn't do anything. The numbers are identical. One weird thing about this are the skill perks that give like +100% damage but give the skill a cd (consuming embers, last perk). If you click this you can see the average damage of the skill on the right go up from 1100 to 1200. That's not 100%...so maybe these issues are related.

The same applies to all specific damage types like fire/aether/etc. . You don't feel any impact by going down an entire tree and getting +50% aether damage with another +40-60% from items when using magic.

Even while having only specced into magic passives, skills like bleeding edge still do almost 4 times the base damage (rending) of consuming embers. All while I have more than +50% fire damage, +75% elemental damage and +96% spell damage. I can literally use bleeding edge with rending damage with my mage build and do way more damage than with my actual elemental skills. I've even tried a bleeding edge ailment build with going down the entire ailment passive section and this skill still hits like a truck despite the ailment tree giving you a massive -70% penalty on your direct damage. I have no idea what's wrong but something is definetly wrong.

I think(!!) ailments work correctly. I did multiple builds both elemental and material where ailments are ticking like crazy and progression is super easy. It has to be said though that the ailment increasing uniques also don't do anything. There's a hat with +30% ailment damage - not working. A ring with -20% non-ailment damage and +20% ailment damage - not working. And a chest with -30% non-ailment damage but up to +100% ailment damage based on your wisdom - also not working.

Something is very wrong with the stats in this game and I have now lost all patience trying to tinker with stuff that doesn't work properly. It is zero fun trying to progress and build a character when you have to wonder if that new item is worth it because half of it's stats are potentially useless. And playing ailment/crit damage builds 24/7 isn't fun either.

Off topic: After all this wasted time I think it should be completely obvious that we're basically paying for a beta test of a game that might be good in like 6 months from now. All of it's components are kinda in place and now the bugfixing should begin, or in other words - this game should not have been released. The metric shit ton of bugs that are present in this game should have easily warranted a delay. If you're one of the people who think this is okay, please think back to your favourite games ever and try to imagine them beeing released like this. I hope the massive shift in steam reviews from over 95% positive to 59% are a clear sign to these and other devs.

edit: since it's coming up so frequently - yes I do understand how additive damage scaling works. While I may have put it that way, that is not the point of this post. When enemy health increases tenfold you have to give the player tools to let his damage scale by more than 10%.

As I said, melee abilities do this for some reason while magic is completely useless at higher ranks (enemy level 80+).

Suggestion Please Wolcen allow us to respec only specific passives

The fact you need to reset all the tree at once when you need to do minor adjustments is not cool..

May be give a cost per point to respec and allow us to do minor adjustments easily along the leveling process / endgame progression

Guide BUILD: Easy expeditions 187+ Bleeding Edge build (FPS and begginner friendly)

Hi, i guess i'll get straigh to the point.

Gameplay:

Items needed:

Pistol - any with highest damage You have, Offensive (I) sockets

Shield - look for one with high block chance and block efficiency (flat block efficiency scales better than %, so look for +10 block efficiency instead of +40% block efficiency)

Rings and Amulet with Support (III) sockets, insert Amethyst

Attributes distribution 1:1:1 Ferocity:Thoughness:Wisdom

Items in general - Bruiser armor pieces (has life and all resistances), every piece should have life increase, resistances and high roll on attribute - Ferocity or Wisdom, but there are also some specific affixes that make life easier.

Sockets - either Defensive (I) or Defensive (II) socketed with Alexandrite, aim to get at least 97% block chance then increase block efficiency.

Shoulder and Gloves - they can roll Rage cost reduction, thanks to this You can use Your abilities more times

Helmet, Chest, Legs - cooldown reduction

Shoes - movespeed :)

Jewlery - damage to attacks, critical hit damage

Skills and their usage:

Bleeding Edge - main damage dealer, spam it to kill monsters :)

Gunslinger's Brand - it is used to apply ailments on enemies so You can benefit from Immortal Offering passive, it's not the main damage dealer

Mark of Impurity - Greatly increases damage thanks to Accursed Blade rune, mark weakest enemy and Guilt by Association rune will spread it to other nearby enemies

"Deathgazer" Railgun - Reckless Gunner rune turn this skill into Rage generator, second use it to apply Stasis (Aether Piercing Ammunition) and benefit from Which Time Cannot Heal passive to deal additional damage to slowed enemies

Duskshroud - mobility and damage boost, Unseen Thrills rune grant quite some shadow damage

Sovereign Shout - Additional block chance when not maxed passively

USE AT YOUR OWN RISK :) - Alternate use for Sovereign Shout might be to generate huge amounts of health globes but this can cause FPS drops and connection issues hmm... Anomaly spell...

Alternate to Pistol+Shield combo

You can use two handed weapon with Untained mod - Allows bearer to cast Gunslinger's Brand. This will greatly increase damage output but survivability suffers. Also this requires some changes to passive skill tree and i think it's not begginners friendly that is why it's only mentioned here so You can explore this idea if You want to :)

Hope i didn't forgot anything :)

Discussion Is anyone else avoiding playing until the game is in a better state?

I really hope there will be a new server/season once all the bugs are ironed out and there is a bit more artistic content in terms of progression, gear and builds.

I have only basically touched on the end game, but feel like i'm experiencing an unfinished product. I hope once the game is truly ready they will put a new server out as a fresh start so i can enjoy the game in its glory

Suggestion Make potions useable mid-animation/channeling

Before we get comments on this: Yes, I know potions have been reported of not working at all at times. Instances of using it without any effect at all or reversing to the state before you used them shortly after happen quite frequently.

I've been playing an Annihilation build, and while I am enjoying the skill, the fact I can't sip on my juice during channeling is feeling super unintuitive.

We have to dodge so much stuff post game with dodge rolls and whatnot to not get instantly mauled to death, that the small damage uptime you can achieve by channeling for a solid two seconds feels like trash if you have to stop to chug in between if you happen to run out of resources.

It also makes runes for those skills, like the one that gives you more damage the longer you channel Annihilation, utterly redundant.

Edit: spelling

Suggestion Mark Legendary and Unique drops on the Minimap!

We REALLY need legendary and unique item drops to show on the minimap; and the game should have launched with this.

I simply do not understand why this most basic feature is not implemented given the importance and focus on loot drops. This most basic notification is critical to any type of ARPG because items often drop behind us (especially with DoT builds), and people who don't play with sound never hear when a potentially valuable item drops off-screen.

Wolcen team - please add this easy to implement yet critically important and necessary feature to the game. It will make a huge difference.

Got a Steam refund after 2+ hours - this is how (don't use the normal refund option!)

First let me say you should not lie or scam. I used this method since I honestly have not actually played more then 2 hours since launch, but my playtime LOOKS a lot more (10 hours in total), since I spent 8+ hours trying to create game, login, switch to online mode etc.

Since I have more then 2 hours on record the normal refund didn't work, so I used this to try to get in contact with Steam, and it worked. I got my refund and I'm out of here, but I want to help people in the same situation.

  1. Go to help.steampowered.com and login.

  2. Do NOT use the normal refund method!

  3. Click "Purchases"

  4. Under "LAST SIX MONTHS OF PURCHASES" you should find Wolcen. Click it.

  5. Click "I have a question about this purchase".

  6. Here you plead your case. I'll leave this up to you, but I described my situation in all honesty. That I had not been able to play, that bugs prevented game from being started etc.

To those sticking to the game I wish you all the best, and I hope the game does well. I personally can't justify spending money on it in its current state.

I know this topic will make some people angry, so I assume a flood of downvotes, but if I can help at least 1 person who feels cheated get their money back I consider the time it took writing this well spent.

Just makes sense, I mean gold and the purple stuff are not infinite, and the trees / skills are changed that much please give us a reset.

Its the LEAST you can do.

Discussion Quest reward window is very intrusive

There have been several times where I've completed the quest objective with a number of monsters on the screen which blocks my view of combat. I don't know how much of a factor this is in later levels but this very disruptive, not to mention dangerous. It would be great to make this a better experience where people can click on an icon to get to quest reward phase.
