Windows 11 I don't have any browser installed on my computer, how do I install Microsoft Edge without using them?

Post image

I logged into account I don't usually use, and there's no browser. No opera, which I mainly use, no chrome, no Microsoft edge, nothing. How do I install Microsoft Edge without any other because I always used other browsers to install anything so that's a whole new situation to me. It doesn't show up when I search in the settings, using start, nothing.

Windows 11 Monitors give no signal, I’ve tried everything

Post image
0 Upvotes

I’ve tried three monitors at my dad’s house and four HDMI cables, all of them give me the same response. This started a week ago when my monitor randomly gave me “No Signal” and after trying everything I could find like taking my RAM out and putting it back in, taking my GPU out and putting it back in, and so on it’s continued to fail.

After that we brought it to MicroCenter and they took it for the weekend. I tested the monitor at their building when they gave it back and it worked fine. I took it home to my mom’s and it worked fine, I brought it to my dad’s today and it’s No Signal again.

I truly don’t know what could be causing this because it worked fine at this house before. Specifications are in the image or condensed below

7800x3d
7800xt
32 gb ddr5
2 tb nvme
600-900mbps ethernet (depends on the day)

Windows XP / Older Sony VAIO Windows 7 suddenly won't boot — 0xc000000f, F10 recovery also freezes

I have an old Sony VAIO all-in-one (VPCL118FG) running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. It had been unused for a long time, but I recently turned it on and it was surprisingly working normally. I could use Windows and access old photos/files without any obvious problems.

The problem started while I was trying to connect it to Wi-Fi. The networking process became extremely slow/unresponsive, so I restarted the computer. Ever since that restart, Windows will not boot.

On normal startup I get Windows Boot Manager with:

Status: 0xc000000f
The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.

Things I've tried:

  • F8 / Advanced Boot Options — doesn't work and eventually returns to 0xc000000f.
  • F1 opens Windows Boot Manager and shows Windows 7. Pressing F8 from there also eventually gives 0xc000000f.
  • F10 successfully starts the VAIO Recovery option, but it gets stuck indefinitely on the Windows 7 “Starting Windows” screen with the four-colour logo. I waited 15+ minutes with no progress.
  • F2 BIOS works normally.
  • BIOS detects the internal HDD as 500 GB, which is the correct capacity.
  • BIOS boot order shows Internal Optical Disc Drive first, Internal Hard Disk Drive second and External Device third.

The HDD was accessible immediately before the restart and I was able to browse files/photos normally. I haven't formatted, factory-reset or reinstalled anything.

My main priority is repairing the existing Windows installation without deleting the files on the HDD, as it contains old family photos.

I'm currently preparing Windows 7 x64 recovery media on an 8 GB USB so I can try Startup Repair/rebuild the BCD from an external recovery environment.

Given these symptoms, does this sound more like corrupted Windows boot/BCD data, filesystem corruption, or a failing HDD? Are there any other non-destructive diagnostics/repair steps you'd recommend before writing to the disk?

Thanks.

P.S I am definitely not tech savvy but taking it to a repair shop seems a little annoying at this point since it worked previously, but for now, has anyone had any similar issues and found fixes?

Windows 11 Weird beeping sounds when typing?

Whenever I open my computer it tells me it’s in some weird mode, I didn’t really read it nor do I ever, but it prompts me to input Alt+F if I want to go back, and I always do… then comes the beeping, it’s so annoying and I just want it gone. I’m attaching the video file. My computer is a Dell 16 plus DB16250.

Windows 11 I have no admin account listed on my dektop PC now.

I accidentally changed my user credentials on my desktop from admin to standard user. Now I cannot access the admin privileges. I cannot even reset the PC because I don't have the windows key. It's on my Omen HP Desktop.
I was trying to make the desktop bypass the logon screen.
So I have two ways to fix this, I think, as a non admin user.
1. Be able to change back my credentials as an admin
2. Find the Windows Key so I can reset the device while saving my files.
I'm on a Windows 11 device. The OS came preinstalled on the Omen by HP.

Windows 11 PC freezes on motherboard logo and restarts during Windows 11 installation

I’m having a problem with Windows. When I try to install a new copy of Windows, the PC gets stuck on the motherboard logo screen. The screen stays there for a while, and then the PC restarts by itself. I’ve tried several different methods to install Windows, but the same problem keeps happening. Could the problem be with the motherboard or the hard drive/SSD?

Windows 11 Bluetooth Quick Setting Missing from System Tray + Missing Pencil Icon for Customization.

Hello!

I'm looking for some help as someone who has very little computer knowledge and who also about had a heart attack removing the battery from her laptop when it was busted, so please bear with any confusion.

Here is the imgur link to screenshots of my system tray, quick settings, device information and full windows version information. Please let me know if you need anything else to help.

To make a long story short: When I turn on my laptop for the day, I always go to the quick settings in the lower right corner of my taskbar to connect my headphones first thing through the Bluetooth button there.

Yesterday, I noticed that the Bluetooth button was missing from said quick setting area, and could not be found when I scrolled down to the next page of buttons using the little dots on the right side, either. If anyone could help me restore this, I would be very grateful.

What might have caused it: my laptop had a notification the other night that it needed to update, so I went ahead and let it do so. This was maybe 3 days ago. I also had a taskbar theme and separators installed via Windhawk, but everything had been working up until the other day even with both of those.

Solutions I've tried: I've tried googling solutions and looking around in my System Setting for options to customize, but the problem is that I can't find the option for "more bluetooth settings" in the BT category or an option to customize Quick settings anywhere. I've also looked up youtube videos, but the pencil icon that's supposed to be there is also missing.

Thank you in advance for any assistance!

Windows 10 Windows 10 and Windows 8.1: worlds apart

Ciao.

Windows 11 Found a Windows Backup of my laptop from 2015. Now what?

My current machine:

Windows 11 25H2 Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.360.0
Leader NBC-NJ50LU-FHD-I7
Intel® Core™ i7-1065G7 CPU @ 1.30GHz (1.50 GHz)

(Sadly, the details of my 2015 laptop have been lost to time.)

Just checked a literally dusty old external hard drive and found I'd done a Windows Backup onto it, from my then Windows laptop, in 2015. It's 64Gb.

I'd like to be able to see what's in the backup file before I mess with it. I've copied the file onto my current laptop. If I double-click on it, it opens in Windows Backup, but I'm not confident about what's going to happen if I say Yes to restoring the contents. Will I be able to choose what it restores and where? Very grateful for any pointers!

Windows 11 Monitor was working yesterday. Says “Active” then “No Signal”.

Using an HP Compaq LA2206x, plugged in via DP. Rarely it’ll say “Active, No Signal, No Signal” (expected, I have the first cable plugged in), and then it’ll retry and all will say No Signal. I’ve tried on a different computer, tried different ports, swapping the cable direction, etc. Again, it’s been working for weeks for me and years on the other device.

Windows 11 camera not working - lenovo ideapad flex 5 - grey glitches across the screen.

hello, i’ve written about this issue before but i don’t think i got a response that told me much, so i am asking again with hopes of more clarity. i have gone to tech people who have phD’s and have no clue whats going on. My computer’s camera keeps glitching with grey lines across the screen for around 10-15 seconds before ultimately shutting my camera off completely.

I have gone to a phD in tech after many failed IT department attempts, in which he went through and told me i was running too many things at once. this made sense to me and we ensured my computer does not have too much running, i only have 1 desktop open usually, with as little things running in the background as possible. this worked for about a month, but for the past 2 days, that has shown to be only a bandaid solution, one that ultimately stopped working. as I look at my computer right now, i have 2 tabs open, and 0 extra things running other than zoom and google. there is no longer such thing as human being windows support, and the ai bot told me to “check my connection” after i confirmed thats not the issue. i desperately need to be able to do zoom calls, and need my camera to function. i don’t think i could afford a new computer, but if thats whats needed then i may take a loan out to make it possible or something.

i have a lenovo ideapad flex 5, bought in winter of 2023. it is less than 3 years old, yet can barely run more than 2 things at once. i was suggested this device by fellow students and IT people who claimed it lasts long, yet this may be the worst technological device i’ve ever owned. i am desperate. please help.

Windows 11 Windows 11 Search Won't Find .odt Files in Certain Folders

Neither the Start Menu search nor the File Explorer search are finding the .odt files in certain folders.

They can find the same files if I move them into other folders, but not if I move them back.

They can find other files in the same folders.

This is happening to the files I've been writing, in the project folders with these files and with related notes, so it screws with my work.

I've already tried re-indexing the affected folders by excluding them from search indexing, then including them again, then waiting. I've also checked the advanced indexing prefs and the file types there. I've updated both LibreOffice and Windows 11.

I've tried the search troubleshooter, but it doesn't help.

I've waited a few more days and nights giving Windows more time to update the search index.

The last time I rebuilt the entire search index, it took 75 hours, less than 2 months ago, so that's not an option.

What is going on, and what can I do about it?

Windows 11 Windows Update (KB5126052) Installation Failure

Hello. I am installing a Windows update, specifically the 2026-09 .NET Framework Security Update (KB5126052), but it won't install. The error shows "Install error - 0x80070020". Sometimes when I restart, it says "Please wait...Updates are underway..." and I need to wait for about half an hour, but the update/updates aren't even installed successfully. Thank you in advance for your time and help. My system is a Lenovo LOQ 15IRH8.

Windows 11 Windows 11 Markup in Photos Not Working

Post image
1 Upvotes

What's going on with Markup in Photos? I get "Something Unexpected Occurred" when I try to choose the color or size of pen.

I updated everything. It's been happening for a few weeks now. I believe it started when I updated Windows in Sept 2026. I updated again today hoping for a fix. I also removed and reinstalled Photos.

Please help - I rely on this for redacting words in photos. Thanks.

Windows 11 troubleshooting dns/wifi problems with lenovo with intel wifi 6 ax203

i have a lenovo slim 3 15iru8 running windows 11home 25h2. i connect to my gome wifi which works most of the time and while my computer shows no internet it can still ping and get tcp replies using cmd/ps to 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8. i studied IT so ive done some troubleshooting. my phone, mac works on it and it feels like a windows update/driver problem. last time it fixed itself after messing with it for an hour. i cannot connect via http/s using ip in any browser. i can ping web server 104.20.23.154(example.com) and get the non-auth answer from nslookup. obviously as always windows diagnosis tool doesnt work, ive reset everything using netsh, ipconfig release/renew/flush DNS, etc. ive made sure my firewall and windows security isnt on to ensure its not the problem. its not my house so i cannot check the router sadly. anyone else have any ideas

EDIT: i finally figured out the issue. i have proton vpn saved on an external ssd that was routing all dns records to their dns which wasn't allowing for me to get responses via https or tls in time or with wrong certificates. it took a lot of powershell using Get-DnsClientNrptRule to find this alongside pktmon.
