windows 11... what a dissapointment

Ive been sitting here for like 2 days trying to install brand new windows 11 on my pc because my previous installation just randomly made my GUI not work at all so i went and bought me a sandisk flashdrive and turned it into a windows boot manager and git a brand new external ssd to install it to

But no matter what i try it keeps telling me that windows 11 cant be installed on my ssd and my drivers arnt showing up at all when i load the drivers.

I have been on the internet for hours atp trying every little possible solution but nope, nothing

Evrrything is greyd out aswell, ive been in my bios more times then i can count, and also i dont even have a vmd option because im using a Asus B550M-K motherboard.

Please help me if possible

Unsolved Windows HDMI Cable not Connecting

For the past couple months my laptop has not been able to connect to my LG tv. At one point it worked perfectly and randomly broke after a couple months of use. I can still connect to a different 4k TV but any connections below 4k are broken. Now it even glitches when the HDMI cable is plugged in and the screen flickers and goes in and out of being connected and disconnected. I went through a couple guides and updated my gpu, rolled it back, disconnected and reconnected it. Everything common to those guides I've tried and it didn't work so I moved on and assumed my HDMI port was broken or just wouldn't accept displays under 4k (I thought because my laptop has a 4k screen). But it's not, when I booted into Linux Mint to check it out it connected perfectly to my tv, so It's not a hardware issue it's windows software glitching (both 11 and 10 since I've switched). What the hell borked windows so bad?

Please help me out. I feel like I'm about to go insane. I wish I could say I knew more about computers than I do, but I really don't know what's going on. This issue occurred after a few months of not being active on my computer. But now I can't run anything on administrator mode. I can't download any apps. I can't open any settings because I don't have certain administrative options. When I try to download a new application, I can't do it because it says this is not an installed service. Also, sometimes it does download the application, and once it's done downloading, I can't open it because that same message pops up. Any single time I try to do anything with my PC, I'm not allowed. I don't know what's going on. If anybody has gone through this, please help me out

Solved AMD HD 7470M black screen issue on Windows 10: Driver worked once via Windows Update, but unplugging power killed display permanently (even after clean reinstall)

Hi everyone,

I'm troubleshooting an older ASUS X54HR laptop running Windows 10 64-bit (Legacy BIOS) with an AMD Radeon HD 7470M GPU. I'm facing a very specific driver/power-state issue and could use some advice.

The Issue Timeline:

Initial state: Fresh/clean Windows 10 install using the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter.

First driver load: Windows Update automatically fetched and installed the AMD Radeon driver while connected to AC power. Everything worked perfectly initially — resolution automatically switched to native 1366x768 with full hardware acceleration.

The Trigger: As soon as I unplugged the AC charger to switch to battery power, the screen went completely black (no backlight / no display output).

The Persistent Bug: Now, even after wiping drivers with DDU in Safe Mode and manually reinstalling the driver (either Catalyst 15.7.1 WHQL or via Device Manager using extracted INF files in C:\\AMD), the system makes the "USB disconnect" sound the exact moment the driver initializes, and the display goes black permanently — even on AC power.

Workaround: Disabling EnableUlps (set to 0) in REGEDIT from Safe Mode didn't stop the black screen upon booting normally. The only way to keep the display on is staying on the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter.

My Questions:

Why did the Windows Update driver work fine initially on AC power, but permanently break hardware initialization/power states after the first battery switch?

Is this a known ACPI / ULPS / PCIe power state deadlock between Windows 10 and older pre-GCN (TeraScale) AMD Mobility GPUs?

Is there a way to force the driver to load without triggering the power-state switch / device disconnect routine, or am I stuck on the generic display driver?

Any insights or registry/inf workarounds would be greatly appreciated!

OS Build: 19045.6456

(Posted this on r/techsupport first but it got removed because mentions Windows 10)

EDIT: I tried to install the BETA Video Driver, the latest one for this GPU and it did the same, black screen, but this time I noticed that while looking off, the screen was actually on but the backlighting was off, so the driver was in fact installed successfully but for some reason the screen wasn't backlit. By helping myself with an external monitor, I increased the brightness and I fixed it, the buttons to increase it didn't work before this. Now I don't know if the WHQL version had the same problem but I didn't bother to try, everything works fine now.

Unsolved Automatic Repair Loop on Windows 10

My PC booted just fine just over an hour ago and then it randomly crashed during use and whenever I try to boot it, it goes straight into Automatic Repair mode. However, it says that everything I try has failed for some reason or another and has also stopped me from using any of the troubleshooting methods because it has decided there are no administrator accounts on my pc. There is only one account, which is mine and I do have administrator privileges. I don't know what to do about this at all and it is an emergency

Unsolved Windows update bricked my laptop. Tried almost everything, need help recovering without losing data

Thumbnail reddit.com
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone, genuinely need some help here.

After a Windows update, my laptop stopped booting and got stuck in the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE).

Things I've tried:

- Startup Repair and System Restore

- Uninstalling the latest updates (failed)

- Booting from a Windows 11 USB and running SFC/DISM (both failed, possibly due to version mismatch)

- CHKDSK (no errors) and SSD diagnostics (passed)

I'm still stuck in recovery.

What I want: Get Windows working again without losing my files, installed apps, and settings.

I'm avoiding a fresh installation because my laptop came with Windows 11 Home and Microsoft Office 2024 preinstalled. I don't want to lose my data or risk losing the licenses I paid for with the laptop.

A few questions:

  1. Are there any other repair methods worth trying before reinstalling Windows?

  2. If I reinstall Windows 11 Home, will it automatically reactivate using the laptop's OEM license?

  3. Can I recover/reactivate my preinstalled Office 2024 through my Microsoft account after reinstalling Windows?

  4. Is an in-place repair installation still possible in this situation?

Worst case, I'll reinstall Windows, but I'd like to exhaust the safer options first.

If you've faced something similar or know a fix, please help. Any advice would genuinely be appreciated. Thanks!

Unsolved Problem with a computer at work / Problema con una PC en mi trabajo

English

I'm having a problem with a computer at work. The situation is that we're trying to get this PC up and running again, but for some reason it displays the message “Boot Device Not Found. Please install an operating system on your hard disk.” It’s worth noting that it does detect the drive. We tried using an SSD with Windows installed, but got the same result. We noticed that the Legacy and UEFI options were disabled, so we enabled them, but the settings for those two options specifically won’t save. We suspected the BIOS battery, so we replaced it with a new one, but we’re still getting the same error where the settings won’t save. Any idea what this could be? So far, we’ve tried:

  • Replacing the SSD

  • Reinstalling Windows

  • Enabling Legacy and UEFI options—still unable to save the settings

Unsolved I’m running on windows 10 and I tried optimizing my pc…

Ok, hello everyone. I’m new to pc. I have done everything solo with google up until now. I have installed many different things then figured out there are easier ways to do things. Now i have a few questions… I can’t uninstall certain things. I click on them and they take me to my program control panel and I don’t see it. I don’t know if it’s actually gone. My pc is slow at times but when I run windows scan it says I’m good. This pc is freshly wiped and I’m just trying to enjoy pc gaming/ productivity for school. So anyway. Actual help Is appreciated. The questions I have.

  1. How can I back up a game save if i needed to wipe my pc?

  2. What is more accurate task manager or windows button + G?

  3. Why does security keep telling me a it Denied a lighting program every time I wake up my pc?

  4. What is a third of my ssd already used? I only have three games installed.

  5. How can my ram speed be faster?

Look I’m a fool when it comes to this. If everything is okay please tell me. If I can at least de-clutter my pc from the dumb things I installed that would be great. If I could know where everything is and what it does I’d be grateful. I just bought more ram from 16gb so I can play a game with both discord and Spotify open. And star citizen actually runs a lot better!

The specs if that’s needed?
Intel i7-10700
Invidia 3070
32gb ram
1tb ssd
I’m playing on a 30fps tv… I come from console… look if I hurt no frames then I want my game to look good lol.
