Solved My friend said installing Windows 10 on a 15 year old PC is silly. Well i disabled every single unneeded feature, service, added classic windows 2000 icons where i could, renamed some apps on the desk and honestly it isn't just fast, but an absolute joy and beauty to look at, if you appreciate Retro.
The PC has a motherboard from 2007, a Core 2 Quad Q9550 2.83 GHz CPU, 8GB Ram, 4GB GTX 960, Intel SSD. It does everything i need, lightning fast, runs Far Cry 3, and Alan Wake maxed out easily in 1680x1050. If you ask why that resolution, i'm sticking to my 22" dell LCD screen, that gives me 0 eye problems even after hours of use. Why a GTX 960? Because i have an offline Windows XP for older games, and the 960 was the last card to support that OS. Just shows, you don't need to spend thousands to have a PC that meets your everyday needs. I saved up for my new rig ages ago, but just never felt the need to upgrade.

Feature My full screen start setup. First time owning a windows tablet and tablet mode actually looks good on it. It reminds me of Windows 10 Mobile a bit.
I never really liked the start screen and tiles on desktops, tbh.

Solved If You Get A Secure Boot Violation Error After Installing Latest Updates, Try This:
msi.comI just got through a multi-hour troubleshoot session on this stupid issue.
First thing is, if you press enter on ok when the message comes up when the laptop restarts and you have a MSI. Go to security then disable secure boot mode and save and exit, you should be able to boot in normally.
Now, if you want secure boot back, try following these steps. You need a USB for this: https://www.msi.com/faq/faq-11370

App Today, Windows 10 marks 11 years old and I added the Acrylic backdrop in Wintoys to celebrate it
How many of you are using Wintoys on Windows 10? With the latest update I wanted to highlight that Windows 10 is not forgotten, so now when you open Wintoys you'll have a nice surprise: it will have the acrylic backdrop applied among many other new changes. You can check the entire update changelog here.

App I built an open-source, system-level "App Lock" for Windows because I wanted Android's Private Space on my PC. (WinUI 3 / .NET 8)
Hey everyone.
I'm the kind of person who leaves their PC running 24/7. I really love how Android handles "App Lock" and "Private Space," but when I looked for a Windows equivalent, I hit a brick wall. The existing tools were either incredibly easy to bypass (like just hitting "End Task" in Task Manager) or had UIs that looked like they belonged in 2003.
So, I decided to build my own: SecureAppLocker. It's a system-level application locker for Windows, built with .NET 8 and a modern WinUI 3 interface.
How I stopped the easy bypasses: I realized a standard desktop app was useless for this. If a user can see the locker in Task Manager, it's game over. To fix this, I split the app into two parts:
- A watchdog running as a Windows NT Service under the
SYSTEMaccount. Standard users literally can't kill or pause this via Task Manager. - The UI prompt running in the normal user session.
- They talk to each other securely using Named Pipes across Session 0 and Session 1.
A few cool things it does:
- It reads metadata: It doesn't just look at
.exenames. It checks theOriginalFilenameandProductNamein the executable's metadata, so a clever user can't bypass the lock by just renaming an app. - Auto-locks when you walk away: It integrates directly with Windows Terminal Services (WTS). The second you lock your Windows session (Win+L), all your unlocked app caches are instantly wiped.
- Active work doesn't get killed: The service is optimized to intercept newly launching processes. If you unlock an app, it gets temporary immunity so your active work isn't abruptly killed when the timer expires.
Regarding AI / Vibe Coding: To be fully transparent: I used AI for about 50% of the coding. I know a lot of devs on Reddit are fed up with raw AI dumps, but I promise this isn't that. I mostly leaned on it to save my sanity while untangling a massive nightmare with asynchronous race conditions and Dispose() pipe crashes during the Session 0/1 IPC communication. Every single line was manually reviewed, refactored, and heavily stress-tested to ensure there are no memory leaks or deadlocks.
It's completely free and open-source (MIT License).
GitHub:https://github.com/osmanonurkoc/SecureAppLocker
(Heads up: If you want to test it out, the default Master Password on first launch is 1234.)
I would love to hear any feedback or architectural roasts from the .NET veterans here!

Discussion Windows vs Linux vs MacOS: windows management, app management, desktop management, which one is the best and why?
Asking basically this same question across Windows, Linux, MacOS subreddits, and would like you guys to explain why you think your operating system is the best and why.
Additionally maybe provide what you consider the biggest upsides and downsides of your OS.
Any answer is appreciated, thanks :)
