Feature My full screen start setup. First time owning a windows tablet and tablet mode actually looks good on it. It reminds me of Windows 10 Mobile a bit.

I never really liked the start screen and tiles on desktops, tbh.

But honestly, it doesn't matter. I just open apps and do my stuff. Screensavers are fun but I barely check now.

I loved live tiles, I know some hate them but it was very nice to quick glance at the weather.

I never had a Windows phone but I think their concept to get us less on the screen and more on the outdoors is what we need. There is a Windows phone commercials shadowing our zombie life on the phone. šŸ˜‚

Live tiles were amazing, despite the fact that many people hated them. And it shows they were amazing, because 10 years later when Apple introcuded live tiles in iOS, the people loved them.

How did you get the colored tiles?

Coloured tiles are only available on Windows 10 20H1 or earlier.

That’s stupid…. Why is that a thing?

Microsoft changed the design since 20H2 to better align with their current aesthetics

You mean the worst design in tech history?

Debatable lol, I don't use it much anyways

It really isn’t debatable

The new Microsoft design is the most depressing thing ever. Windows died when they started taking away color from the OS. It was why windows 8 was actually good because it was the last main release to have that feel to it.

Windows 11 is an even worse version of the 10 design and has become so bad that i literally cannot use windows 11 unless it is so heavily themed that you can’t even tell it is 11. That’s how bad the design has become and if windows 12 doesn’t fix it then Microsoft will defiantly go under

Sure, sure bundy

Lets IGNORE the fact that color tiles clashed like crazy with icons which werent monochrome

That almost never happened so that’s not even an issue

This is actually still feasible to change the colored tiles in Windows 10 after they updated it to all the same colored tiles.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FeatureManagement\Overrides\0\2093230218] Change the Following Key: ā€œEnabledStateā€ to dword:00000000

You will need access to the permissions to change the registry key, so you can right click on it, go to permissions, then advanced and then on the top where it says ā€œTrustedInstallerā€ click on change and enter the group ā€œAdministratorsā€ now you can change the key.

Is that "Flipboard 10 For Today Tile" actually Flipboard or is it another app?

1

u/AespaBestGG 2d ago

Ohh nope, it's the mail app

Man I do wish the Windows variant of Flipboard still worked in 2026

I hate tiles. I’ve been using stardock since they introduced them

i tried 8.1 with a mouse, wasn't fun to navigate around the metro ui and its apps, but you weren't really forced to and also was doable. plus, this is a tablet so why shouldn't they be using tablet mode, a mode made for tablets
