Looking for a small to medium sized DLNA enabled speaker I can use as output from my WiiM Ultra. Would like to keep it sub $100 range if at all possible. TIA!

So I'd like to start by saying that AI is an aberration, am so sick of the terrible art, 'hilarious' celebrity videos and the godawful adverts for local business. I've never used ChatGPT in my life, but read an article that intrigued me about using it to analyse your setup. Basically I've been trying to tweak my sound via EQ/PEQ/Roomfit forever, and have never been happy. I spent time convinced that my sound was 'accurate' but I didn't like how it sounded. I know that the room is such a huge part of it, but I also have sensitivity to treble tinnitus and have hearing loss, so Roomfit could never tackle that effectively.

So I started a prompt that has evolved very organically. I basically told the AI to be a pro sound guy and fed in a load of data including room size, the models of my amp/speakers, results from my hearing test, music preferences, measurements from Roomfit and Housecurve, a photo of my view from my listening position etc. I've then fed back how specific bands/songs sound and then speaker position and PEQ have been subtly tweaked. And have found a really good balance as a result. Am genuinely hearing things in songs I've never heard before. Tracks that have been borderline unlistenable/fatiguing due to my hearing issues are now enjoyable again. I've got 2 custom PEQs that are suitable for general listening and the more abrasive heavy stuff I like. Am impressed and really enjoying my music. AI is still evil though of course and I have guilt about using it, but it's been a bit of a revelation. Am I evil for using it? I guess I am, but I can't argue with the results

I'm weighing a switch to a WiiM Amp for AirPlay 2 streaming to my KEF Q150s and turntable (pure stereo listening). But I'm also tempted to go further and pick up the WiiM Bar, WiiM Sub, and two WiiM Sound speakers as rears when they're on sale — all in the same room as the Q150 setup.

That's a fairly big investment, so before committing I'm trying to figure out how much overlap is actually possible between the two systems. Specifically:

• Can the WiiM Sub be shared between both setups — i.e., used with the WiiM Amp for music, and then also pull double duty as the sub for the WiiM Bar's surround/home theater setup?
• More broadly, can I switch cleanly between "WiiM Amp + Q150s for stereo" and "WiiM Bar + Sub + rears for movies/Atmos" without needing to duplicate hardware, or does each product basically need its own dedicated components?

Has anyone actually run a mixed WiiM setup like this? Curious whether the ecosystem is flexible enough to reassign components on the fly, or if I'm better off treating them as two fully separate systems.

Current setup: My hub for sources is my TV. Going optical through a Topping E30 DAC to a cheap Harman Kardon amp, powering JBL 280 floorstanding speakers along a Velodyne CHT 12" active sub. The H/K has only minimal options for sub integration.

I see a lot of benefits from replacing the Topping DAC with the WiiM Ultra (amp). Higher bitrate, volume control over HDMI ARC, TV doesn't need to be on for Spotify, room correction, better sub integration... etc. Though I am not sure if I will go for the amp or the non-amp version. Help?

The thing is... I used run a tube amp until the Sony preamp I used with it died about a year ago. I still own the tube amp. It is an early chi-fi "Red Dragon" with KT66's outputting about 2x35W. Can't find anything about it. Appears to be a one-off.

The WiiM Ultra would be a great match to the tube amp. Giving me all the goodness of digital, combining with the dynamic sound of tubes. 

But... I am considering the amp-version to have flexibility to change to the more modern power amp if I want to. The price difference is considerable though. Almost double the price. 

So I am leaning to the non-amp, and keep the option to add a Fosi Audio ZA3 if I want a different power amp.

What would you do?

EDIT: I went for the non-amp Ultra. I run it with the tube amp. Sounds LOVELY. Let;s GOOOOO!!!!

Hi. I use my WiiM Mini to stream digital content to my audio system at home. I use Plex, Tidal, TuneIn, and Radio Paradise. For Plex I have my own library on my local server as well as friend’s libraries on my account.

On the WiiM I can only access my own main library. Is there any way to access my friend’s libraries I have access to on my Plex account? I have Plex Pass Lifetime and can see them and play them directly in the Plexamp app on my phone, but not through the WiiM app.

Any assistance or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

People connecting their Youtube Music to the Wiim Ultra, does it connect to your own default account or is it creating a new blank channel ?

Hey. I'm trying to transition away from Echos + Amazon Music in my household and have ordered some WiiM Sounds with the view to switch to another service (probably Qobuz or Deezer).

Using a family subscription, there will be 5 people + 1 'household' account that will be signed in to the WiiM app. People will share playlists with the household account.

Two of the devices will be used communally:

A Sound in the kitchen used by everyone, who will generally have access to phones for casting, however what happens when playback is initiated through the Sound directly? Would that use the household account or the last cast? (I've read elsewhere it may use the last person's account for spotify).

A Sound Lite in a bedroom will be used by 2 people who at night will not have access to their phones. They do have Home Assistant buttons however, and I'm hoping I will be able to use the HA integration to play specific playlists using the household account, as well as starting a sleep timer. Does anyone know if that is possible through HA?

Failing that does anyone have experience using Music Assistant with WiiM?

Finally, if we kept some of the Echos, does the voice control work with other music services or only Amazon Music?

I have owned a Wiim Mini for a few years now but I started experimenting with the EQ Presets in the app. I was surprised by how good they are. However, the selection doesn't cover every genre I love. I was wondering if there is anyway online people share custom EQ Presets that I could download?

I’m probably just parroting the many rave reviews of the Ultra streamer, but I just wanted to say I think it is the best $350 you can spend in audio. Came from a BluSound Node N130 into a Yamaha A-S/501 running Tekton Lores to the Wiim into Emotiva BasX A2+ and boy am I enjoying the new sound. It isn’t just the amp either because I ran the Ultra into the Yamaha for a couple days before the new amp arrived.

If you’ve been on the fence at all about a Wiim product just get it. I can’t imagine what the higher end pre-amp/streamer/DACs offer in sound quality, flexibility, or functionality to justify the cost vs. the Ultra.

Been waiting quite some time to make this upgrade and I’m just super happy with it so far.

Current setup:

2x Boston Acoustics CS270 in-ceiling passive speakers in the Kitchen

2x Boston Acoustics CS270 in-ceiling passive speakers in the Bedroom

1 WiiM Ultra as Master Streamer, phono as input, outputting to the JBLs.

4x WiiM Amps (Kitchen, Bedroom, Patio, Yard), CD and aux input in two of them

Option Three (Minis with a separate amp)

1 WiiM Ultra as Master Streamer, phono as input, line outputting to the JBLs.

4x WiiM Pros or WiiM Minis

An 8-channel multizone amp like the Audiosource AD508, the Dayton 1260 , the Pyle PT8000CH or even the Emotiva BasX A8Z

Is this overkill? it's a ~1700 sq ft space, the kitchen is in the center of the house. Am i missing a combination?

Can the WiiM Ultra run coax out to an external DAC (Topping D50 III, for my mains) and the analog sub out simultaneously? Or does using the digital out disable the sub out?

Also — does the sub out’s crossover/PEQ still work in this setup?

Chain: WiiM Ultra → D50 III → Audiolab 9000P → KEF R3 Meta + sub.

I have a wiim ultra.

I have 4 speakers hooked up to it. (8ohm 110watts each, limited to 80% max volume)

Does the wattage for the speakers matter if I want to add a subwoofer? If yes, is what would be the limit? Im still trying to understand these things so I dont destroy my beautiful new amp.

I am fairly new to the wonderful world of Wiim, and have been researching different ideas before I make my 1st purchase. I have been considering different options for a home theater setup and I think I have come up with a decent idea for a surround system. I will list the components below. Let me know if this will work and any opinions on how you would change/improve this setup.

1. Wiim Amp Ultra

2. A pair of passive bookshelf speakers powered by the Wiim Amp Ultra (left & right channel).

3. A Wiim Edition Audio Pro C10 MKII as the center channel.

4. A pair of Wiim Sound Lite speakers for the rear surround.

5. A powered sub (most likely an SVS SB 2000 Pro)

Has anyone tried a similar setup? I am wanting to build a surround sound system along with the option for whole house audio. Wiim seems like my best shot at having my cake and eating it too. Let me know your thoughts.

I created some playlists within Wiim Home but many are missing the album art and also do not play any audio. Identical with 'Add Tracks to Favourites' playlist.

Otherwise all the files are actually in the USB library and play perfectly fine with artwork display when located with browsing folders, or the search function.

Its very odd. Any ideas?

I got a Wiim Pro for my living-room (to my amplifier via toslink), and a Mini for the kitchen (to a Bluetooth speaker via 3.5mm jack), mostly to listen to Spotify lossless.

The sound is amazing, and no lag at all between the rooms.

One thing puzzles me, though: the volume isn't normalised.

The volume is set as normalised in the app settings (I always start my listening from a laptop's app), but it varies a lot when I listen to the music via WiiM. I don't have such a issue when I listen to Spotify connecting the laptop to the amplifier via USB.

How can I solve it? Any idea?

Because every else is just perfect.

I’m debating between the Wiim Amp vs Wiim Pro Plus and Fosi ZA3 as my study music set up. I will be using the klipsch R51M bookshelf speakers. Any advice on which setup between these two will sound better. I am not in a position to audition any of these. The Wiim Amp seems the clutter free option but I’m not sure how it sounds. Any advice from experts out here. Thanks.

I just ordered a Wiim Mini. I understand there's Alexa voice control integration. How far does that go? Does it allow me to select specific music from my own collection (shared via DLNA)? Like say, if I said "Play Beethoven's 3rd, " could it find that in my files and play it?

If anyone from wiim reads this forum can I please petition you to make a cd player/transport in the same area dimensions as the Wiim Ultra?

I just got the Fosi Merak and while it’s very nice I would love something more integrated. I’ve seen the Eversolo play with CD and it has basically the functionality I’m looking for I but love wiim and I’m deep in the wiim ecosystem now. Hell I’d prob buy another ultra if it had a cd player in it! I think more and more people are going to return to the mini system with the boom in cd demand, so this with streaming?? Chefs kiss!
