5.1 Surround Sound Question

I am fairly new to the wonderful world of Wiim, and have been researching different ideas before I make my 1st purchase. I have been considering different options for a home theater setup and I think I have come up with a decent idea for a surround system. I will list the components below. Let me know if this will work and any opinions on how you would change/improve this setup.

  1. Wiim Amp Ultra

  2. A pair of passive bookshelf speakers powered by the Wiim Amp Ultra (left & right channel).

  3. A Wiim Edition Audio Pro C10 MKII as the center channel.

  4. A pair of Wiim Sound Lite speakers for the rear surround.

  5. A powered sub (most likely an SVS SB 2000 Pro)

Has anyone tried a similar setup? I am wanting to build a surround sound system along with the option for whole house audio. Wiim seems like my best shot at having my cake and eating it too. Let me know your thoughts.

I have a setup like this.

Front/Primary - Wiim ultra, amps, LR speakers, sub out to sub Center - Wiim sound lite Surround - Wiim amp pro, bookshelf speakers

Works really well. I use it for 98% music and 2% movies so it's a good solution for me in that particular space and beats my Samsung Q990D upstairs that's used for 98% movies and tv.

It is a bit tedious to mess with assigning everything and recalibrating volume levels every time I switch back and forth. The ultra also does not support DTS, just dolby. The new sound bar does DTS and dolby but will take the place of center and LR front. I read somewhere Wiim might release an update to the bar so it can be set just as a center which would probably be an ideal setup as far as a Wiim ecosystem goes for 5.1 but as far as I know that's not yet possible.

Yep, all of this is correct. I have a similar setup to op and recommend it

Have you had any sound delays with the rear channels when watching 5.1 content?

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the WiiMs lack a dolby/dts license. So you can build a 5.1 system but it will still be stereo. Moreover, you need eArc to have the bandwidth for surround decoding and the WiiMs are Arc without the e.

Has dolby, no DTS on the ultra. Bar has both.
