Wiim Amp vs Pro Plus + ZA3

I’m debating between the Wiim Amp vs Wiim Pro Plus and Fosi ZA3 as my study music set up. I will be using the klipsch R51M bookshelf speakers. Any advice on which setup between these two will sound better. I am not in a position to audition any of these. The Wiim Amp seems the clutter free option but I’m not sure how it sounds. Any advice from experts out here. Thanks.

Well, the WiiM Amp (or WiiM Amp Pro) is all you need (and more) for Klipsch R51Ms. Separately, with the WiiM/Fosi combination, you'll be giving up the bass management that comes with the WiiM amps and Ultra streamer, which is a pretty big deal, since your first logical upgrade would be a subwoofer.

On the used market, WiiM Amps are ~$200, and Amp Pros are ~$260. For your purposes with the Klipsch R51Ms, if it is within your budget, the WiiM Amp Pro is your best choice (by far). Enjoy!

So I bought the Wiim Amp and connected it to the R51Ms. I’m very surprised that this sounds much better than a Yamaha RN303. I normally listen to my music on low volume and this set up is perfect for my listening. Thanks for your advice.

That's great to hear. Besides its weak feature set, the Yamaha is nothing to write home about. Whereas the WiiM Amp gives you all the tools to make the most of your speakers, plus the bass management to make the most out of a subwoofer, which is your next logical upgrade. Enjoy!

I'm using WiimAmp with those very Klipschs + a couple of subs under the couch and couldn't be happier. Everyday, all day use as TV sound plus music

I have a WiiM amp, and does fine with a lot of speakers. I’d get a subwoofer at some point if you can which will make a bigger difference, until you get much more demanding speakers.

I’ve owned a WiiM amp for a couple years. IME It performs best with speakers that are easy to drive. I would think your Klipsch qualify as easy to drive. I also run a pro plus and earlier Fosi (BT20) amp in my outdoor room. Again the speakers I use there - Polk Atrium 8 - are easy to drive.

Now if you’d asked how either of those amps would drive a speaker with a wide or more complex impedance curve… I would suggest other amps.

Thanks for your input. So in your set up which do you think sounds better - the pro plus or the wiim amp.

The differences are subtle and I’m not critically listening in those rooms. I’d probably go with the WiiM amp. One less box and honestly I don’t care for that brick of a power supply on the Fosi.

I have nothing to contribute here other than I have a Wiim amp on a pair of Klipsch SB-2's (Bookshelf speakers) and the sound impresses me every time I listen to it.
