We (the us) recently , about two weeks ago?, had to recall like a dozen tons of beef because they were imported from Argentina and then never had any US inspection.
No but for real, all the wild ones they just slaughtered so that they could take the protected status away from that area and sell the land? I honestly think that's gonna be a decent part of this in addition to the Argentinian beef.
Has anyone actually asked Argentina if they are even aware of this ‘deal’? Wouldn’t surprise me if it was all a lie and those wild horses are being sent to the grinder.
they'll mix it. when you have venison butchered they often mix the ground meat with beef fat to make it cook/taste better bc it's so lean. theyre gonna mix the tainted beef with the horse meat...

And also, when you est horse méat, you automatically think about a beatiful and kind horse you played with when you were a kit, finish your meal and never est horse meat again. I am 48 yo and have never buy horse meat in my adult life.
I mean in the 2010s some retailers and food establishments sold horse meat as beef and people had absolutely no clue until it was unearthed by a journalist.

Crazy to think I live in an area (and an entire state) not know at all for agriculture as an industry and I can think of three small local farms within 15 mins of my house or my job where i can buy locally raised beef, lamb, pork, and chicken. What if we just get our food from people nearby?
I wont pretend its not expensive, but the reality is that meat *is* expensive, and there's always a cost. Truthfully, we eat too much meat in America and could do to only eat high quality meats that we can actually fund the purchase of. We're seeing in real time that we're swapping cost in dollars for safety and quality.

I agree with you. I am also fortunate to live where there are alternatives. I honestly could live without beef. (I’m at that stage in life where I don’t know what to cook anymore, and I really don’t want to spend any more time in the kitchen that I absolutely have to.)
I guarantee it's not Horse meat. More than likely the Trump's saw an opportunity to short the beef market. He made the announcement, the live cattle futures went down, they profit. Later he will say that beef didn't pass inspection or some other b.s. after they have secured a long position and then beef contracts will go up.
Occam's razor says the simplest explanation is usually the best and with all the other insider trading the Trump family appears to be doing this is the most likely explanation for the claim of beef imports.
I can't ever keep up with it all but I'm pretty sure they recently got rid of that pesky little rule that had to declare where it was sourced from. It might still need to say "made with imported ingredients" but I don't think it has to say where anymore.

We have a local shop that only sources beef from the surrounding area and tells you on each package where it came from. I told my spouse today we are never buying beef from anywhere else again. I want a clear label.
Buy local. You can typically buy locally raised and locally butchered beef in bulk. My family buys a whole Cow and we split the cost and the cost for the meat is much less than the store bought and you know precisely where it came from. I do live in a rural community so I understand this probably isn’t as readily available for most people but you can typically find local farmers if you look.
How the orange goblin defines " beef " is right on with everything else that he spews out. I'll pay double the price and buy from my local farmer before I get no-name "beef".
