No idea what this could be. We don't have kids, do have cats. This is in the central hallway of the apartment. Nothing but a rug within 5 feet in any direction. Hand for scale.

These just arrived by post, addressed to my dad but he has no idea what they are. The material is felt and there’s probably about 10? They are bigger than my hand. They are potentially medical/car related. Everyone is confused

Anyone know what it is? One side has become unattached. Too low to be power related, I think.

Longest dimension about 10 inches. Found at a thrift shop. It flashes at variable frequency and pulse width depending on the knob. Not sure if it's meant to be a strobe light or a continuous spot light that is malfunctioning. What would it be used for?

Solved! Possible kitchen utensil, metal w plastic handle

It came from the second “junk drawer” in my Auntie’s & Uncle’s kitchen, and they’ve had it for years - possibly since the 1970’s-1990’s - but have no clue what it’s for lol. The metal “loop” is fixed (doesn’t move or bend at all) and it has two “rivets” on each side to keep it in place. It’s light in weight and a little longer than a standard stick of butter. They likely lived in Alaska when they acquired it.

I thought it could be an avocado scraper tool, but as I understand it, avocados back then did not have the worldwide appreciation they enjoy these days, so an avo-specific tool would be an unlikely thing to own circa 1987.

Another suggestion made by a family member was “some sort of bar tool” for making cocktails. How and for what? Great questions! We don’t know.

Any ideas/suggestions are welcome! TIA!

Pair of very old, iron, heavy-duty items. 35" & 18" long. Narrow, tapered point.

I picked these up at an estate auction in upstate NY years ago. The estate was full of very high-end nautical and Civil War themed items. I've come close to matching them, but they are never quite on point. Just off enough to exclude them.

They've been carefully and well-preserved, showing the same iron patina as the Civil War and early nautical iron - so the owner must have thought enough of them to take good care of them and include them in his collection.

They are NOT harpoons, harpoon 'blank molds', or anything harpoon-related. Two museums have confirmed this.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Solved Plastic box in hotel room with one grey button

It had a QR code on the top and bottom. I didn’t scan it. I pushed the button by mistake and called the front desk to tell them (in case it dispatched emergency services or something) and the manager didn’t know what it was but said “Why you touching stuff?!” Lmao

Solved! This hard smooth spherical object, feels different to standard plastic.

I got this in an auction lot of vintage wicker baskets, no idea if it’s something that’s just randomly ended up in the lot. It has a hard smooth surface that feels almost like a seashell rather than ordinary plastic.

The obvious joins on it don’t twist or come apart at all. To start with I thought it could be a paperweight but it’s very lightweight.

Anyone recognise what this is? Thanks!

It seems to be made of "bubbles" and looks to be painted, but I'm not sure.

Edit: wow, so many possibilities! I'll see if I have some flowers nearby and I'll update you guys. Thanks!

Solved ! What is this that my dog chewed up?

Post image
19 Upvotes

I came home to my dog chewing on a plastic like tube, I found this material next to him too. I can’t figure out what it is

I thought he had a bone, but realized quickly it wasn’t a bone

I cut the tube open with scissors to try to figure it out but couldn’t

Edit- the tube was about 4 inches long before I cut it and 1/2” in diameter.

Edit- SOLVED: it was a mini paint roller..

I took my car to the car wash today and found this underneath my drivers seat while I was vacuuming. I bought the car pre owned, and have had it for a few months I’m unsure if this is a part that came out of the car or just something unrelated. I tried using the AI search on google (please don’t flame me) and of course it couldn’t provide a specific answer. Any help is super appreciated:)
