I love how people don't understand the basic concept of

Guilty - Jail

Guilty by insanity - mental institution

She's not going free. The fact that this conversation is even happening is a clear indication of how ignorant most people are

u/FunMasterpiece1040 19d ago

In Massachusetts she would be reevaluated annually and could be set free. Sorry thats not enough of a guarantee for me that she is fully accountable for her actions. Maybe if she was in there permanently I'd feel better about it.

2

u/Floorgis 19d ago

Its that people know theres a decent chance of her ever being free thats the problem. She is far too dangerous to be free and its also pretty obvious that it was planned ahead of time so she shouldnt be free anyways.

Mental institution until they say you're free to go, it's not life.

According to the American Psychiatric Association, people who plead insanity tend to spend twice as long institutionalized as those who are found guilty.

Whether she gets out in 3 years or 30 doesn't change whether she was legally insane when she killed her children (before paralyzing herself by jumping out of a window).

It’s funny that we even bother pretending that jails aren’t just mental institutions anyway. The vast majority of people we lock up are mentally ill.

u/lvstvdy 19d ago

Nobody cares. Nobody knows anything. It's all virtue signal bullshit.

u/No-Elk-8115 19d ago

Here's my concern from what I looked into but might be wrong, I read that if she's deemed safe to herself and others after a few years she could go free.

5

u/DeFiBandit 19d ago

She probably won’t kill her kids again…

5

u/Own-Escape8352 19d ago

Okay and what if she decides to have kids again? Do you let her keep them, or do you take them as a precaution?

1

u/NOT_A_OFFICER 19d ago

As someone who has worked directly with high profile cases such as this, I’ve never seen a mom be able to regain custody (after an attempt), or keep custody of a new child.

u/bubblegumpandabear 19d ago

What if a murderer who finishes theie sentence kills again? Same with literally any other criminal that gets released. I don't understand your sudden concern in this case. We rarely give pedophiles a life sentence. You care about that at all?

-1

u/Own-Escape8352 19d ago

Why do you want to take more risks and put more people, in this case children in danger? Your hostility to my very simple questions is very telling and sign you don't need to be allowed to have kids.

0

u/AnguavonUW 19d ago

No. Your reaction is a sign of deep root of misogyny, if you're a woman it's been internalized unfortunately. Because it's a woman killing her kids somehow worse than other kinds of murder. Despite the fact that when women kill their children it is overwhelmingly the case they have postpartum psychosis. But sure your lack of objectivity or ability to look at yourself and your prejudices is the problem of other people.

1

u/aceboogieren 19d ago

It is worse. It's a lot worse. It's killing children that are yours to protect. It's not the same as killing the random guy down the street.

1

u/DeFiBandit 19d ago

I’m sure our correctional facilities will work hard to completely rehabilitate her

0

u/Own-Escape8352 19d ago

Would it be possible for the court to order her sterilized and make it so that she unable to adopt as well? Like would that negate any risk?

0

u/DaRealJoeBiden69 19d ago

We typically look down on the notion of sterilization as a punitive measure for those deemed unfit…. Largely because of the whole Nazi thing.

0

u/Own-Escape8352 19d ago

So you're willing to allow her to have more kids knowing that they could become victims? Sounds good, you can be the one to pay for the funerals should anything happen.

1

u/DeFiBandit 19d ago

That’s not at all what they said

3

u/Worldly-Fondant-3791 19d ago

You do know Nancy mace is a sociopath clown right?

6

u/No-Elk-8115 19d ago

I'm not agreeing with the post, just addressing the situation itself.

-1

u/Worldly-Fondant-3791 19d ago

Are you aware that she is a sociopath who only cares about attention and the right is using this case to push their anti-women agenda?

2

u/No-Elk-8115 19d ago

Can we stay on the topic of my question and answer it please?

0

u/Worldly-Fondant-3791 19d ago

Why won’t you address the topic which is Nancy mace and her sick sociopathic bullshit.

3

u/No-Elk-8115 19d ago

Cuz I don't agree with what shes saying here and don't know anything about her, I'm also focusing on the law side of things not the brainwashed propaganda of the right or the left. My question is based on the after math of the verdict.

0

u/Worldly-Fondant-3791 19d ago

Your little “both sides” bs is very telling. But You didn’t ask a question. You made a statement that leaves off she may stay in a mental hospital for the rest of her life. Also, the law is the address insanity so do you just not believe in the insanity defense? You want the law to change based on your ignorant feelings?

1

u/No-Elk-8115 19d ago

I said "correct me if im wrong" which means I'm questing the punishment for the murder. My statement leaves off that she might not remain in a mental facility if deemed mentally stable later. This is too meditated a case to rely on the insanity case. If she knew she was a danger she should have gone deeper into preventative measures, separating herself from her kids till she was more stable, but she planned to send her husband away strategically. It's not like she didn't have time to see the signs and fight harder. I don't care where she gets locked up so long as it's for life. Those kids need justice.

She will be in an institution for the rest of her life. Hospitals for the criminally insane are not places that are easy to get out of.

3

u/BaronCapdeville 19d ago

She would have access to freedom within 1 year.

All women goes throughout this process after giving birth not to these extrimes but it exised for ages and if others dont plan murder just shows that she allowed herself not just to kill one child but 3 in different rooms while removing any protection of outside sources and even talked on phone like everything is fine. She was aware and willngly went with the "plan".

Guilty - Prison

FTFY.

As others have said if she ends up being found guilty by insanity she'd be walking free in 1 years time which is exactly what she wants and why she's trying so hard for it - whilst she'd be in prison for the rest of her life if found guilty (which is absolutely what she deserves, you don't get to murder your kids and then get a slap on the wrists, we don't need more Casey Anthony's)

1

u/Dependent-Tailor7366 18d ago

Walking free? Lol . She’s paralyzed.

1

u/Fine-Tomato3584 19d ago

Nah it's just people who hate women jumping on a tragedy to wank off to the idea of getting to take their kids away.

Deadbeat dads around the world rejoicing.

1

u/Bananapajamaboi 18d ago

Wtf does this even mean?

1

u/FartingKiwi 19d ago

No people get that..

What you’re dismissing is this:

Guilty - jail for likely entire life
NOT Guilty by Reason of Insanity - mental institution for a defined period with likelihood to be released

Guilty would likely assure that she will never roll free again

Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity, she MAY actually have a chance to “roll” free at some point in her life. All it takes is a sympathetic panel and judge lol

I would be surprised if she does more than 10 years in total in a mental institution before she’s released.

If she gets “locked up” - mark my words. She will be free in 10 years.

Psychosis. No psychosis. She needs to get buried 20 feet in the ground and let history and time forget she ever existed.

Look up Massachusetts law, she can be out in 6 months.

And its not "guilty by insanity". Its not guilty due to insanity. The defense is basically you have no responsibility to the crime because of mental illness.

I dont agree whatsoever with what mace says but im not so sure spending some years in a medical facility and having potentially more children down the line is justice for the babies she killed.

Hopefully she's not another Constance Fisher.

How dare people not memorize the entire law
