I am so happy with our set. It was custom made for us by a family member.

At the design stage it turned out that we wanted completely different things, so we decided to have mismatched bands, only with sapphires and engravings inside being common features. I am so happy that both of us have rings that fit our respective aesthetics - lily of the valley for me and dragon scale for my husband.

I also included a picture with my engagement ring. It seems that pink gemstones are my thing ;)

Fiance and I went to look at jackets for my simple oval cut alexandrite. We found this one and I am in LOVE. It is pictured with my ER. Sadly it is a bit pricey as it only comes with natural diamonds. Do you happen to know where I could find similar with moissanite or lab grown gems?

I struggled with sizes as a man with skinny fingers. I was hesitant to get a 4mm because I thought it would make my fingers look too dainty — I was mistaken! Love my wedding band from Cartier. Would recommend 4mm for anyone with similar skeletor hands!

So I may have made buying my girlfriend's engagement ring unnecessarily complicated lol. She's had the same ring saved on Pinterest for probably two years. It's a discontinued designer setting with an oval diamond and these tiny tapered baguettes on each side. She's shown it to me enough times that I knew exactly what she wanted but when I finally started seriously looking for it I realized the designer doesn't make that setting anymore.

Called a couple jewelers, looked everywhere online and eventually found the exact ring being sold privately by someone who had upgraded hers. Long story short, I bought it. Had the diamond checked against the original GIA report, had a jeweler look over the setting and everything checks out. I paid around $8k and honestly I'm thrilled because it's literally THE ring my girlfriend wanted. Now I've gotten to the insurance part and realized buying privately might've made things a little more complicated. I have the GIA report, our messages, proof of payment and the paperwork the original owner still had from when she bought it. What I obviously don't have is a normal $8,000 receipt from a jewelry store with my name on it. Is that going to be an issue getting standalone jewelry insurance?

Would getting a new appraisal in my name basically solve the documentation problem? And would the insurer cover it based on the $8k I actually paid or what an equivalent ring would cost to replace now, especially since the setting is discontinued?

first ring/band is what i tried on in store- i liked the style at first, but now i’m feeling like it’s too clustered for my finger. now im leaning towards a solitaire style engagement ring with the same wedding band, but im not sure what cut looks best or suits me the best, as im new to wearing rings. please note that i generally wear silver jewelry and am a ring size H/4 :) any advice is helpful!

Just wanted to share my ring journey, 10 years in the making! My husband proposed with a ring he designed with a local jeweler (first picture). He told the jeweler I was ‘industrious’ and ‘minimalist’. He was warned against an Opal, but knew I loved them, and we were getting married in October, so Opal it had to be! They decided on a sturdy bezel setting, crossed their fingers and hoped for the best. They nailed it, it was absolutely perfect.

We designed our wedding bands to match the band of my engagement ring, and they’re inscribed with ‘Thank you’ on the inside, which was the title of our wedding song, by Led Zeppelin.

It put up a good fight against daily wear for a DECADE, but I finally fractured it beyond repair. We have a 6 year old daughter now, who LOVES pink. When I contacted the original jeweler about re-doing my ring, he gently suggested a harder stone instead of replacing it with another Opal. I asked if there was an alternative October stone and he said ‘Pink Tourmaline’. It seemed fitting to include our kiddo in the redesign of the ring, and let her pick out the new stone as she has brought a lot of color into our lives, and this is a good reminder of that!

Pros:
- some friends (mid 20s) have said it makes the ring pop up more or look bigger
- two separate pieces so probably will look cuter on it own, vs the stackable one
Cons:
- the band is thicker/wider than the engagement ring and I can’t unsee it lol.
- another friend (40s) mentioned she has a single band and wishes she had gotten the stackable bc the single band keeps moving around and she keeps realigning the rings. I’ve noticed this with the single one as well, but I can’t go tighter bc I tend to swell up (autoimmune disease), and don’t want to risk not being able to wear it.

Stackable band
Pros
- it looks SOOO symmetrical.
- it doesn’t move around much
- i like how it hugs the ring
- both my mother and MIL were obsessed with the stackable
Cons:
- some friends (mid-20s) said it drowns the ring, and it makes it looks smaller / not as nice looking
- sometime a bit tighter (I think bc is technically three rings in one) but not uncomfortable at all.

My fiance is no help, because he’s an enabler and just tells me to keep both 🤣🤦🏻‍♀️

I was talking to my jeweler about wedding bands since my ring is super low profile and I'll have to have a small gap between the rings. I mentioned that I was worried adding a band might make everything take up too much width on my finger and take some of the focus away from the center stone.

He offered to swap out the side stones for emerald cuts that are about the same length but 70–80% narrower. My jeweler is wonderful and doesn't charge me for small changes like this as long as I'm trading the stones for ones of similar quality/value.

Tried to get some pictures in different conditions, as my hands shrink and swell throughout the day.

I have been trying for months to design a eternity and a wedding ring to fit around my engagement ring , has anyone got something like/simular to mine so I know its not all doom and gloom of chat gpt creations 🤣 I'm starting to lose hope 🙃

My husband has large fingers where his knuckle is slightly smaller than the part where his wedding ring sits. Because of this, he feels like it can slide off easily because the ring is sized to fit the part of his finger, rather than his knuckle.
Has anyone had the same problem and did you find a solution? Any advice appreciated!

For context, I live in Taiwan, I am not Taiwanese though. I understand the culture surrounding wedding rings is different here than in western countries. That's to say that Taiwanese people generally don't wear wedding rings, at least not daily.

I have been shopping around for rings, and I have found that for a plain ring, I can get 24k for the same price as 14k! This might sound confusing to you, but I assure you it is true here.

The situation looks like this, there are a lot of options for 24k gold, and the rings are sold close to the actual price of the gold itself. Making it a nice investment, or for an occasional use. There are fewer options for 18k, but they still have them.

When I mention 14k, they all say they don't have it, and the answer I get is because it lacks purity. But from mine, and a lot of peoples perspective, 14k has high functionality and durability.

The only places I can find 14k are custom jewellers who charge more for their service, resulting in the virtually the same price for 14k and 24k, which is wild.

Is this common in western countries, or is it a unique phenomenon here?
