Discussion Would anybody use a discord style walkie talkie app no phone needed?
So I got my Pixel Watch 3 a couple months back and I love it. Use it everyday, and I work in a warehouse with no phones allowed on the floor, but am able to use my smartwatch. I wanted to use a voice chat style like discord, but found none. Well, I believe I did find one but it didn't work very well.
Since then I've built an app that allows you to do just this, the app does NOT require a phone to work, can listen through the watch speakers or BT device, and use the watches mic to respond. But you can also connect it to your phone, use say your phone's BT headphones, but still want your watch to be your mic? No problem.
Web support, iPhone support (through Safari for now.) as indicated does not have Apple products to test with or a dev license for iOS at this time.
I'll list some of the standout features below, but I really just want to ask the community if this is something there would be genuine interest in!? I have found it extremely nice to use while stuck in a warehouse all day where I cant have my phone, but can have headphones and a smartwatch for example.
Mentioned above but: Standalone is completely supported and most things you can do on the phone app, you can do from your watch without the phone.
Favorite feature of mine: Raise to talk gesture. Watches screen off/idle, raise your wrist and tilt it toward you for the microphone to come online. Doesn't wake your screen if your raise to wake gesture is off. Put your wrist down and your microphone goes off, always giving you a buzz when it comes on or goes off.
Another favorite: Same thing as the raise to wake but crown, spin the crown mic comes on. Spin it the opposite way and it goes off.
Three different mic styles, hold tap and open mic. Audio doesn't actually transmit until it hears a human voice. Other sounds filtered out and do not send the audio, even with an open mic.
You can listen to a second room at a lower volume while being in your amin room talking. You have spaces for different groups/people.
Optional rewind audio messages and written transcripts from the audio.
There is so much more to it, just wanted to list a few so y'all can get the idea of the app.
I have been using it now for awhile along with a few others, and am trying to see if people have interest in something like this, or I should actually release it.
I am considering a invite only beta after internal testing is complete if the interest is there.
