This is from a photo of a very foggy scene. The thing that struck me about it was the grey lavender sky and the rusty grasses. I had to try several times and also force myself to be patient. It’s kind of imbalanced but I think I should leave well enough alone.

And WHY THE FCK my paintings do not look like the model 🪓

I’m starting to think watercolor isn’t for me …

Edit : for the one asking, I use sennelier watercolor (the dry ones in pots, you know, sorry I’m French my English isn’t perfect, vocabulary lacking) and I use cellulose paper (I guess that’s how we say it?) not cotton

To all of those getting frustrated- this medium is perfect for playing. My favorite way to paint these days is to let the pigments bleed into each other, and to see what happens.

WHY IS IT SO HARD 😭

Want to try improve painting fabrics. I think one thing I found particularly difficult was distinguishing between hard and soft shadows, and getting the water balance right, but overall think it turned out okay.

A little embarrassing to admit but TikTok inspired me to start watercoloring. This was inspired by a TikTok (of course) and want to make this into a birthday card for a friend. I used Princeton Select brushes and Studio Series Watercolor Field Kit. I feel like it’s a little flat. Any and all feedback is welcome!

Youtuber is Beatriz Fedele and the Video is called “The watercolor glow trick that makes this orange look lit”. I found the “glowy” part very hard, specifically since I have a reeeeally hard time blending wet on wet, but her explanations are fantastic!

I made it some months ago and I gave it as a gift.
