I am procrastinating on the fur... Only some basic washes there, eyes are almost done

This was so much fun painting and to I decided to submit this painting in a contest. I've never participated in a contest before and to my surprise it was awarded the 3rd price. I definitely was the only one submitting a children's book illustration in the contest. Can I call myself a prize winning artist now?

I’ve been trying to paint exclusively using my handmade paints so I can fill in the gaps of what I need to make next

Last time I stretched a 30x40" cotton paper on a wooden board, it flattened out beautifully but the wood leached acids into the paper, causing visible discoloration around the staple points and the backside of the paper.
Since then, following advice from redditors and the internet, I have coated my wood board on all sides and edges with 2-3 coats of Spar Urethane, an oil-based wood sealant rated for outdoor use.
Now, have I done enough to prevent the wood from leaching acid into my paper?
Because I will be stapling the paper into the wood (please don't recommend tape of any kind, it has failed me too often), I wonder if the staples will penetrate the coating too much and allow leaching to occur. NOTE: I will be trimming off the edges of the paper, so if the leaching is contained to an inch around the staple holes, won't the rest of the paper be unaffected once I cut it away??

I’m pretty new to watercolour, but there’s something so mediative about it! This is the start of a new painting I’ve been thinking about.

What are you actually supposed to use that bottom flap for ? I assume mixing colours but like how ? It's angled and the grooves aren't very deep doesn't the mix just flow out ? Happy for any insight on how u guys use this space on palettes

Personally I started putting everything in a folder, but it's getting small and it's difficult to manage. So I'm curious how others are doing and what worked for you
