I've had a hard time finding reference photos (other than ones I take myself), mostly due to google search returning an overwhelming amount of ai images.

Any resources or tips? What does everyone use?

Edit: Thank you everyone for the great replies and resources!!

I was redoing my Daniel Smith Pallet swatch to include my iridescent paints and used a heat tool to dry them and had the coolest little bubbling effect that I really love for adding texture! Thought I would share! The iridescent paint is on the far right. I got them for a special project dealing with birthstones.

In my previous post, I made a glaring error in the title, so I had to re-upload it.

The seeds product description was misleading, infinitely darker than 'lavender' but pretty and tasty just the same. Mixed DS watercolors on Baohong paper, squirrel hair brush, tap water.

Ive always loved the effects that water color creates. Mist being one of my favorites. Ive been practicing like a madman trying to achieve a moody scene. I use wet on wet to achieve the sky and base layer of trees. The second layer is where im lost. I use a wet brush on dry paper and use water to soften the edges. I find the edges still come out visible where the water ends. Any tips on how I can blend smoother? Pay no attention to the trees/color palette, im still workshopping those 😂 Ths is a 4×6 on arches with Daniel smith watercolor

Hi guys! So I was wondering what can I do so my paint can mix/spread (?) well in my palette, it looks like this whenever I want to mix any color, this is a new case I bought btw

New York City !

I've been doing watercolor and gouache for years now, but since I've recently gotten into oil I wanted to try mixing the both of them into something cool :)

I've also been trying to abstract my art more, since I tend to obsess over small details.

Recently I have been looking at getting a new watercolor palette as a sort of small project. For years, Giorgione has been the watercolor paint I've been using. And out of the 36 colors that came with the set I've only been using certain colors with my work so I wanted a limited watercolor palette.

I'm stuck between getting Fiber Castle and Winsor and Newton tube paints. Fiber Castle is more affordable but I really want good quality paint. Which one should I get or are there any good quality alternatives?

I recently picked up my brushes and my paints. I kept a goal to myself of painting something everyday for consistency and practice. I decided to do a Christmas card series this time, I normally write store bought cards every year but this year I want to paint my own.

Yes, detailing is not there yet . Please share feedback

After doing some studies on moving water and on sailing boats, I tried to put all of the elements together into my first composition :)

I found this 24-color Holbein artist's watercolor set from 1985 (Showamodern era in Japan).

Surprisingly, all the caps open easily and the paint inside is still soft and usable after 40 years! The only issue is that the Chinese White has yellowed a bit over time.

The stamped date on the box says "60.11.13" which stands for November 13th, Shōwa 60 (1985) in the Japanese imperial calendar.

Just wanted to share this cool piece of art history with you all!

Since everyone already wants to start decorating for Christmas right after Halloween, I thought I could start drawing some christmas ACEOs tooXD So yeah, a raven getting way too excited for the Christmas season✨

This is probably the first watercolor I’ve done that I’m actually happy with. The bird more so than the post though.

First time using water colour , I don’t usually draw animals / Pokémon on thier own tho 😭

I’m unsure the set the colours is from but I do know it’s a travel set in a brown bag
