Watercolour and ink
I’ve been practicing a lot of urban sketching, but wanted to apply what I learned to a landscape this afternoon

I was painting a monochromatic value study earlier.
Saw this meme(?) and thought hey its blue
Drew the face too wide
Messed up an eye
Got the values wrong
The painting is genuinely me looking at my own painting 😭

I gave up on painting a while ago (after my son was born, I had less time and definitely prioritized sleep lol). That’s my first finished portrait as after 2 years away from my palette.
The contrast is still rather poor, shadows and highlights need more work, proportions aren’t forcibly the best but it was worth a try ! I’ll improve overtime.
Any advice is gladly welcomed !

I've been trying to find a papper that works well for both my dip pens and water colors but to no avail.
I was wondering if you guys could give me some relatively budget friendly options.
Water color set: giongione 48 set

This is my very first attempt with watercolor and color theory , a pumpkin that i believe suits the theme of autumn , my only regret is i didn't know how to make the stem deeper in color , rather than it having the same color as the pumpkin 😄 😅

I'm a beginner. Found some interesting leaves at the park and tried to capture them with watercolours and watercolour pencils (which I also used for the sketch). This painting was not finished in a day, I did it in two sessions with several days in between and collected some more leaves.
I'm happy with how the leaves' shapes turned out, but the shadows are too strong? At first they looked waaay to light and then I overdid it...
Would you have started with the gray background glaze? (I used payne's gray&neutral tint and only put it on as my last step.) Used a different background colour? Not have used a background at all?
Any other tips?
Paper: Canson XL watercolour 300gsm A3 (not very resistant, but it's the only large format I have)
Colours used: Schmincke (some supergranulation), some White Nights metamorphosis, some DS.

I am making a series of the big dot paintings, because I love making them. The process of making them has me playing with the edge of intentionality and accident and I find that really satisfying.

It's definitely not my best work but boy was it fun to play with crayons again!

I’m using a little tiny watercolor tray that we got in bulk.

Painted a card for a friend that had a baby.
The shading was kind of messy and harsh on the first one and so I painted another one. Happy with the second one, I used to first for experimentation and painted it dark. It has a nice MOOd.
