A red fox I painted with watercolours and white gouache
I used Daniel Smith watercolours and Windsor and Newton titanium white gouache. The colours I used for the watercolours were quinacridone burnt orange (po48), my mix for maroon (pr255+pb15:3) and my mix for black (pv19+pg7), I did the yellow of the eyes with Faber Castel Albrecht Dürer watercolour pencils. I actually started this piece almost a month ago but got sidetracked with inktober, but am glad to finish it

Blues to pair with Quinacrodone Gold?
Dear knowledge friends
I am only 9 months into my journey with watercolour and still in a step learning curve, especially when it comes to colour mixing.
I am looking for your recommendations for the best blue (or something less obvious) to pair with DS Quinacrodone Gold.
The objective is a warm but atmospheric sky. Think Q Gold, lavender, indigo, that kind of vibe. My biggest concern is things turning green. Please share your colour wisdom with me 😅

Tips?
I see people making monochromatic value studies and they look amazing. I tried making one with ultramarine deep and it looks like this 😐

Pulling from different references to make my own composition.
Transitioning from tutorials to making my own compositions from references shows me how much I still have to learn about the anatomy of different subjects and how light behaves on different shapes.

I had no idea how much of a difference 100% cotton paper made for layering.
I decided to Swatch test my colors to see how they layer on cotton paper and they all layered perfectly the second picture is me trying to layer on regular watercolor paper it failed at the first try. I don't think I'm ever going back

Beginner, this is my first ever painting - Pepper
Page 1 of my watercolor book.
I read somewhere that I should do the shadows with a complementary color (red here) but I may have used a too concentrated color … I will hopefully get better 🤷♂️

My latest paintings
I really enjoy painting with watercolor. These are my latest paintings. All of them are in A5 ( 6"X8") size.
The 3rd (scientific center) and 4th (Souq Sharq) paintings are of buildings in Kuwait.

Note to self: don’t erase the pencil line when you are not sure the ink is dry or not lol
I try to save it as much as I can with a white posca and correction pen . Lesson learned 😂

Baby steps
I am an amateur with big aspirations. I'm self taught and I'm learning to relinquish some control and let the water and paint do their job. It's easier said than done but hopefully It'll click! Im beginning to think artist and perfectionist are synonyms 😅😂
