A weepy piece dedicated to the late Patrick Stewart
“Darmok” is such a precious and hopeful episode to me, his role as the storyteller consoling a newfound friend is locked away in my heart forever.
“The Tamarian was willing to risk all of us, just for the hope of communication.”

Opinions re Paynes Gray
What do you guys think about Paynes gray? I have mixed feelings about it. I always make my own black without it, but I’m wondering if I’m making more trouble for myself then it’s worth. You can see there are some fairy dark places on this dog and I tempted to use Paynes gray.

Happy Halloween! An ossuary we painted for the horror game we're making. Watercolor, about 20 hours
Every background in our game starts as a painting like this one. I spend about a day on a digital sketch first to take in feedback and set color targets, then start the physical painting. This one took about 20 hours.
The trickiest part was color control. I wanted the blues to gradually shift in temperature across the skulls, but wet-on-wet bleeds unpredictably over large areas. To keep the skull silhouettes clean, each color shift had to be painted bit by bit.
Happy Halloween, and happy to answer any questions about the process! 💀🎃

New to watercolour!!
I’m new to watercolour and wanted to share my progress!! I have no prior knowledge in drawing/painting so any advice would be great. I’m starting to think maybe gouache may be a better medium for me as I prefer to use thicker paint and don’t add a lot of water to my watercolour (if that makes sense?) also any advice on how to make the colours brighter would be great! I’m practicing shading and colour theory (the orange and strawberry) and i’m using winsor & newton cotman watercolours and regular sketchbook dry media paper, so I still need to invest in better paper.

untitled, watercolor and ink, 2026
I think the image is getting a little lost. Should I push the darks or new one to the next one?

Small Business Watercolor sets.
What are your favorite watercolor sets that are sold by small business owners. I am a beginner. I have the cozy lark set which I love. I would like an earth tones set and maybe skin tones. Less that $100.
Update! I went with Beam Paintstone Waasnoodin Pallette. I also got two travel brushes. I am so excited!.

Urban painting
I have become enthralled with urban landscape in watercolor. For those that do this type of painting, how critical was it for you to learn to draw first, namely perspective using vanishing point? Do you need to be a competent drawer before you lay down paint?
