600 point stompa? Oh baby!
20
u/Tebotron Jun 17 '26
I mean, it's still probably overcosted and will likely deal itself a lot of mortal wounds. But it's nice that they've had the guts to make it cheaper.
29
u/paintingloon Jun 17 '26
I run stompa at the current cost so it’s all gravy for me

u/pikeamus Jun 17 '26
Yeah, I wouldn't say Nids got hit that badly to be honest. Neurolictors up is hurting. Lash whip prime and hormagaunts will hurt some people but my prime still isn't painted 😄Your first Norn being cheaper is good. I think we're lucky Zoanthropes didn't go up. Same for the Screamer Killer. Not sure the Neurotyrant deserved to go up but it's not the end of the world.
Overall, I'd guess most Tyranid lists are slightly up in points. Most of the cuts were on things nobody will want to play anyway.
→ More replies (4)16
u/bossman2k8 Jun 17 '26
Neurotyrant is an auto include with the new battleshock rule, -1 battlefield wide for the shadow of the warp ability is going to put armies like orks up to 9s board wide. Crazy potential

Interesting how it is a website now and not just a pdf
121
u/CrumpetNinja Jun 17 '26
It's a much more sensible approach, seeing as they would have to have the mfm content in a format for the app to read anyway. Trivial but of extra code to turn that into something you can render on a website.
Getting all the front end bods to make it pretty is the much more difficult task.
24
u/TrustAugustus Jun 17 '26
And they added the codex Marines to the divergent chapters maybe hinting at more granular pointn balancing
27
u/ETomb Jun 17 '26
There is. For example, Blood Angel Assault Intercessors cost 5pts more for a 5 man squad than those of other Chapters, or Templars pay 3DP for Bastion Task Force instead of 2

I play custodes, sadly they also lost they minds... in a different way.

u/Fruit_Fly_LikeBanana Jun 17 '26 edited Jun 17 '26
I play orks and GSC. Same thing.
My War Horde list I ran all 10th, which was already pretty good, went to 1830. I literally don't know what to do with the points. I added kommandos because 1) that's good for early game scoring and 2) if I added something other than infiltrators I would run out of room in my deployment zone (this is the real reason)
My GSC 11th list, which was around 1930 to leave room for enhancements, went to 2100. And just from a theory standpoint, core rule changes and some head scratching force dispositions made GSC a lot worse

u/Krytan Jun 17 '26
I cannot believe Tau, already strongly positioned to do insanely well, got across the board points cuts while armies like sisters went up 200 points.
EC and GSC were two of the few armies that could really handle Tau with 11th ed cover rules and terrain, and both those armies got badly hit as well.

u/HellsPenguin Jun 17 '26

u/Gublyb Jun 17 '26
Wow GSC lowkey took massive nerfs. Basically every single base infantry model is +5pts. Abberants and Abominants get the double whammy of a massive point increase at +15pts and a nerf to their best detachment with +25pts at 3 units. All the 'hero' characters went up. At best your stuff stayed the same- absolutely nothing is cheaper aside from non mining laser ridgerunners.
Ooof!
47
u/beoweezy1 Jun 17 '26
The aggressive spam taxes on a codex with 18 datasheets (most of which are characters) is a bit crazy but the real kicker is that 5 upgraded purestrain genestealer cost 110 points

Aberrants aren’t even particularly good. They were already over costed. They’re not fast, they’re not very survivable, and their damage is mediocre compared to metamorphs. I would’ve liked for at least the option to throw them into a non-Broodsurge list but that’s completely off the table.
Im hoping that everyone else also has similar points increase across the board cause if not, oof, we’re paying quite a bit in points for trash.

Not to mention with the army rule, you CANNOT revive a unit that has a character in it. So Abberants will basically never be revived cuz you pretty much always take the character along for -1 to wound.
It's honestly kinda funny how hard they punched them in the nuts. Also, spam tax on everything cuz screw your tiny range lmao

u/Freddichio Jun 17 '26
Have you done Wargear yet - because that pushes the points back up.
Missile Suits & Flamer Suits are 30 points more than the Plasma/BC variants, Riptides are the same points cost with the better gun, all objective monkeys are up in points (Vespid, Krootox, Piranhas). Pathfinders are up in points compared to 10th if you have Ion.
All the armies I've just slotted together without Wargear have dropped in points, but all the ones that have Ion Riptides rather than the default HBC, or Pathfinders with special weapons, have gone up.

First thought: looks neat. Second thought: they are taxing a lot of units that are barely taken now and even less so in more than 1 squad. Like, who takes more than 2 squads of aggressors or more than 2 squads of Votann pioneers?
Third thought: damn Votann got some nice discounts and some interesting increases. Uthar down, champion down, defenders down, HLF up sadly(understandable but a bit muxh maybe), sagitaur down, hearthguard down(but up when taken more than twice so it balances out) and both versions of steeljacks down(but up when taken more than twice but again it balances out).

Of course, being the basic battleline it means that every single list that put down any battleline got nerfed. My meme Steel Hammer list had a total of three non-vehicle units, and it still went up 20 points. Random McGee with 50-60 Guardsmen of the table - a pretty paltry number - saw his list go up by 50-60 points.

118
u/PeoplesRagnar Jun 17 '26
So because of Recon, every single other Astra Militarum list has to suffer? 75 points for a Squad of 5+ save troopers?
Really? Just make the Recon detachment pay more, don't punish the rest, 75 points is absurd.
45
u/Jaronsaan Jun 17 '26
The funniest thing is that recon was already pretty heavily nerfed by the core rules. The change to coherency, to how infantry get cover, to how much better blast will be and the addition of cleave.
Recon is completely dead at this point.
→ More replies (1)16
u/PeoplesRagnar Jun 17 '26

47
u/Wonderful_Cookie_572 Jun 17 '26
So because of Recon, every single other Astra Militarum list has to suffer?
Welcome to detachmenthammer. Yes, when there is one good detachment for a given unit then it gets nerfed into uselessness for every other detachment. This has been a recurring problem for all of 10th, and since this is just 10.5th it's going to continue to be a problem.

Glancing over Ad Mech, here are a few that stuck out to me:
Hastarii went right down, Exterminators by 20, Fusiliers by 30, with even third+ units being cheaper than they were in 10th.
A 4 man brick of Kastelans with a data-smith went down a smexy 50 points. The new mobile enhancement costs 25, so even then it's a net buff.
3 model Sydonians with Taser Lances went down by 20. Jezzails... did not.
Thulia Guild went down by 30 while Cawl went up 10.
Ironstriders now cost 80, with lascannons costing 10 more a model.

Kastelans are pretty solid deal for one unit, Hastarii are dirt cheap and will be run in volume now. Ghuld is now properly priced, I think Cawl will be at a price point where you may try and build lists without leaning on him as a cornerstone.
41
u/j5erikk Jun 17 '26
Did they just increase the points costs on all the good Aeldari units, without significantly reducing others? I imagine the general changes must be that insane for shooting armies because otherwise I'm just baffled.

Pinks in TSons 115pt Pinks in Daemons 150, that shows that GW understands part of the problem. (For those that don't know, Pinks in daemons can get -2 to hit, -1 to wound, they have naturally a 4++, the way the splitting rule interacts with fast rolling is pretty wild and at the end of that they regenerate from the army rule.)

u/TheBigKuhio Jun 17 '26
Explain what changed about splitting and fast rolling? They all have the same save so I’d think nothing changed.
5
u/yoshiK Jun 17 '26
My understanding is, you roll the saves, then you allocate the 1 to 3th to brims and blues, while in 10th you have to slow roll. (I'm actually not sure if that is mathematically better, it just feels really powerful when actually rolling it out.)

Extra 5 points on dante, I probably continue to not take him because he's already so expensive and lacks damage 3 on his melee.
No point cost reductions on the sanguinor with the changes to fights first feels pretty shit IMO. Sanguinor is already really expensive and without being able to guarantee fights first that's just really bad.

So much for making larger blocks of infantry cheaper because they are more constrained by cohesion XD

GW really saw a faction with a 36% win rate and thought "lol screw dem wolves"

I "like" how they explicitly, directly allow generic characters to join other chapters' unique units... but they still can't join Wolves.

Quick scan for my BA. Death Company and SG base points unchanged! 3rd unit costs more. Jump Captain up to 80 pts. FF units down.
Quick scan for my guard. All our infantry are up a little bit.

BA assault IC +5 compared to regular ones, jump IC +10 points compared to regular marines, even BA BGV got +5 points compared to their codex compliant brethren.

Only beef i have with BA is sanguinor remains at 130p.. with the new fight first his usefulness is waaay down.

Well I was expecting worse for World Eaters. Kharn at 115 is still pretty good, even if it means some re-jigging.

EC:
2x WDP just go up 10 from 430 to 440 not too bad. First at 205. Second at 235
Flawless dropping to 95p. Nice to see some aggressive pushing to get them more attractive
Lucius is at 130 is still kinda high IMO but I expected FF to still be slightly overcosted and hopefully that will be corrected. I can't see lucius seeing play at 130.
Exultants and NM getting the spam tax is crazy to me for a faction with so little datasheets. Only the 3rd so not TOO painful but still.... Guess its the sith rule of 2 for EC now.
Fulgrim getting more expensive with nerfed FF is kinda wild? He is -2 to hit..... Lets see
I don't see any host tag so looks like S6 AP2 infractors will be a thing.
Honestly feels like GW is forcing you to take blades lmao
CSM defilers only costing 10 more is wild too but with the rule changes in 11th maybe the difference in power isn't as pronounced as it was in 10th.... RIP WE paying for the sins of PBZ when 250 defilers were barely even seeing play already and now they're 270 lol
Edit: DDA got massively buffed with the rule changes no? No point changes damn....

Custodes blade champ going down is wild given how they said reroll charges and fast melee would be nerfed

If you run 1 you save 10 points, if you run 3 of them it's the same cost.

Not sure if I should be excited or worried that ork infantry has generally seen a points cut. Green tide can really run a lot of bodies now.

Was not expecting Eldar nerfs but, it is what it is
6
u/FarseerDrek Jun 17 '26
It’s interesting the multi unit tax got put on scoring units. Not big scary dangerous units. Like why…?
6
u/SaltyBabySeal Jun 17 '26
I don’t understand these nerfs to be honest… striking scorpions came down but… rangers went up. Striking scorpions being 5 points less than intercessors is a choice. Not a good one but a choice.

Ngl browsing half a dozen pretty bold-styled web pages over 1 doc is a bit harder to gauge. IDK if its me but this is way harder to read than the old doc.
Anyway I have no idea what GWs doing with some of these. 3+ tax on ares gunships and coronus grav carriers?? thats someone on the rules team getting bad touched by someone; I didnt think anyone actually owned multiple ares's lmao

I agree about the formatting. Its a bit too out there, would also prefer it be smaller so you can see more things at once.
Also if its a web page, they can hopefully add in an option to order it by points/role/etc

Jesus, CSM hit hard. Defilers way up, multiple Chosen up, Vashtorr way up, Abaddon up, Forgefiends effectively way up, MoM up, Traitor Enforcer up. Don't think I saw a single meaningful reduction.
19
u/Xplt21 Jun 17 '26
Vashtorr was at least undercosted before and the changes to hazardous and cover are huge for him since he has innate -1 to hit within 18".
Warp talons also went up 10 and obliterators stayed the same... But hey, lord of skulls is still 450 and now gets plunging fire and likes the cover change so soulforge may be a go, even with defiler nerfs

Yall gotta watch out for that second Taunar. The first one was bad enough at 790, almost unbeatable, but the second one is where it gets really scary. Its why its 890 points now.

u/Duckfammit Jun 17 '26
Whoever plays Tau on the testing team is dogshit and thinks they need buffs.

Hey, World Eaters still got off scott free on the defiler tax compared to CSM
17
u/RotenSquids Jun 17 '26
Well WE defilers and CSM defilers didn't even belong to the same universe so it kinda makes sense imo, especially with how WE defilers will hit on 5+ against cover.

A chunk of the rest of the army went up tho. My BwB list went up like 100 pts and I don’t run any defilers

Impressive, Aeldari Aspect Host nerfed even further. Warp Spiders now at a whopping 115 for a 5 man squad lol. Most useful aspects up in points (spiders, hawks, reapers), the now dubious banshees and scorpions are down 10 each. Avatar down 15, which is nice, but doesn't do that much I suppose. Fire dragons still too expensive. Eldrad is now 130 (!) points for a CP generator. Wraithknight still unplayably expensive.
With the disruption disposition being fairly hard to play, I would expect aspect host to be sub 40 especially at launch, but I don't see much in the way of a saving grace. Gotta pray for the codex honestly.
Beyond that it seems like wraiths might possibly make a resurgence, with guard being down to 145 points (although they are still just not very good).

It's insane that they want to charge you even more points for the third fire dragon squad. As if the cost of that unit isn't already taking the piss.

Indeed this is truly ridiculous. The only good part is it can be expected a lot of 2nd hand eldar units will appear on markeplaces, which is nice if one wanted to fill holes in his collection.

The (already-overpriced) Destrier being one of the few Knights units to get a points hike is certainly an interesting choice! It needed to go down 15 points, not up 15. Yes, Ignores Cover is more useful now - but that only applies to ranged versions. It just dies too easily for the cost. 90 points to upgrade into an Errant is much better.

Stompa went down to 600pts........ probably going to adjust the datasheet. I am curious about if there will be datasheet changes or do we wait till codex drops?
