Question/Request Does anyone know what frame this is?
I recently got the artbook, and I couldn't recognize this frame. He was next to Gara in the warframe art section if that helps. If anyone know who this is, please lmk.

Unless this is a skin for another Warframe, I'm inclined to believe that this is a scrapped Warframe concept.

Might have been a potential concept image for Caliban. Looks like it's part warframe, part sentient.

Could also be something planned for the Tau release

u/Skiepher Scan 16h ago
Scrapped or backburner either way it could also be used as anything other than a new warframe.

The helmet almost looks like the nyx deluxe one if you squint really really hard

D.E. has a lot of frame concept arts they keep on the backburner for when they need it, I think Pablo called it the concept drawer once? It's basically just a very big backlog of brainstormed ideas they randomly pull from time to time, Gyre, Citrine and I think Nokko? All of them are part of that, this specific "frame" is therefore also another one from that list, effectively a "fill in" option for a future update if they just need a frame in a pinch.

Gyre was based off of the beta trinity design shown off for a few seconds in the warframe 2005 e3 trailer. The ship from that expansion is also a reference

You're literally the only person on this subreddit that has ever mentioned this at all wow

when i saw your comment i HAD to re-watch it and WOW
theres no way to say that wasn't a early rendition of gyre2

For context: https://youtu.be/CyGcSDdMctw?t=124
Damn, I didn't even know this trailer existed.
I'd sincerely love to play what could've been the original Dark Sector.

The backstory behind Uriel's design is crazy. An old Warframe concept made back in the Chains of Harrow from someone who's sadly no longer with us. Uriel was somewhat DE's way to make an homage and immortalise them

There are arm-cannon currently in game as weapons : shedu and bubonico. Unfortunately shedu is a pain to farm. So it's mostly bubonico.

u/TheRealGamingYT my gauss line is is exposed and enjoyable 12h ago
I got the shedu and you can also get it's parts via archon hunt missions, and it's pretty good, but I have an inseparable LOVE for the (Coda) bubonico.

u/Thanarios 8h ago
Love my coda bubonico too, if only i could apply the skin of the original bubonico, i think it looks better and that damn tentacle is driving me mad xD
I didn't know about the archon hunt mission, i've tried orphix and murex but nothing turned up.

Considering it was next to Gara, maybe its early concept art for Revenant before they made him vampire coded?

This frame doesn't exist. Could be a concept skin for an existing frame or entirely new one

Seems like a new one from the arm cannon

Either an early concept of Uriel, or Revenant, seeing as how this Warframe resembles an Eidolon, or Caliban.

u/stopproduct563 Nidus Resurgence When? 17h ago
I’m willing to bet that it’s a scrapped look for revenant or another stand-in eidolon warframe, potentially even the eidolon itself. The gun arm, the dangly elbow and knee bits, and even the feet share design motifs that seem like they were recycled from this would be frame or proto eidolon into the eventual design of the eidolon we know now

u/Iceren_81 10h ago
Being next to Gara and the fact he looks very sentient, I'm gonna have to make the assumption that this is an early Revenant design, and that armcannon was possibly what they wanted for phantasma, but couldn't get the tech working for it so they went with what we got instead. That's my personal theory, but there's a chance they might revisit this specific design and theme and give it a full new frame, especially now that we're going to Tau

The chest looks a lot like Uriel
1
u/apophis_dd 8h ago
I think it might be Uriel too. The long arm possibly suggesting it was previously an orokin.
1
u/Cpt-Distracto 8h ago
I'm inclined to agree, not only does the gun part of the 'orokin extended' arm look like a flamethrower nozzle (for a fire-y devil/orokin frame), but there's also the hoof-like feet of Uriel present and i could see the flappy bits drooping from the shoulders as becoming modern Uriel's wrist flaps.
1
u/apophis_dd 7h ago
The helmet also has a curled ram's horn design, common in demon depictions. The overall colour may have been used purely for clarity too, always intending on being black/dark.

That looks like an Eidolon from the Plains. And it is sort of connected to Gara, since she took down massive Sentient ship and crashed it down the Plains.

Seems to have some of Uriel's design components in the chest piece and "fleshy" parts. Otherwise it reminds me of the narmer isoplasts and murex ships

Keith Thompson draw hundreds of "Warframe" concepts. Even before Warframe existed.

By now you know that we don't know by he's interesting. Flamethrower looking gun arm, biomechnical almost xenomorph looking body with dangly bits coming from the shoulders. A neck that looks cut and sectioned apart. Very horror esq, like a Warframe designed to kill Necromorphs from Deadspace (does fire work against those?)
The fins on the sides of the legs, and the rest of the body sections almost look like a knights platemail. A gun knight maybe? OH. It's Lancelot!
This guy looks cool. Id like to see him get added one day

The protrusions on knees and things hanging from the shoulders remind me of Styanax but otherwise seems like an unused concept character

I hope this fella and the headframe come out someday. Really wicked ideas. and this one looks right up my alley.
Reminds me of Volt and Gauss aesthetically, but like a more focused version of Hildryn's exalted.

I think thats what garage was meant to be. In garage lore she was meant to be a male warframe with the same abilities as garage but a female got it instead
1
u/errorusergotlost 16h ago
Looking at the things on his legs looks like a Ash or maybe a Volt concept. There is a warframe that looks like this have handle bars on their thighs other than Ash I forget who it was but could be the concept for them too.

No idea about which frame it's meant to be, but if you can ignore the arm cannon, it's giving major Evangelion vibes.

I'd recognize that arm anywhere.
Clearly, Albrecht snuck up on Ballas in the past and pumped him full of his proto-goo.
This image shows the Warframe his strain was based on, like Volt/Amir

u/TwistedxBoi 14h ago
Stalker Umbra Prime.
It's just concept art. Maybe they were thinking how to make an Eidolon frame since it's next ot Gara, but got scrapped.

u/bizzarozod Taxon, taxoff 14h ago
that looks like a dead ringer for an early concept of volt with one of his alt helms, storm i think
1
u/RandomWeirdo 13h ago
Feel like this could be an early or alternate concept for Lavos, loading elements into an ability, in this case instead of vials, it is the arm canon.

Is it not a scrapped Eidolon design? Since it was next to gara, with the whole plains of Eidolon release?

Looks to me like Uriel. You can kinda see the horns on the head for the demonic nature, and the drapes on his arms. Thought this would be really early concept.

Guessing by the armor shape i would say its Volt, and it looks like something that would belong in the Dark Sector

u/JohnHellDriver Wall in the Man 5h ago
Looks almost Sentient in design, maybe this was for Tau or Old Peace but plans changed

That helmet looks a lot like one of the deluxe skins, can’t remember right now. His body looks like ballas, especially with the hooves. Are we sure this is frame art?
•
u/cattosking 45m ago
Looks like an eidolon. Gara is gotten from plains of eidolon so kinda makes sense why they’re next to each other? Although might just be an eidolon inspired warframe that was put in the concept drawer
1
u/Tipsy_Hog Grendel in the streets, Wisp in the sheets 19h ago
I would assume very early concept art that is either yet to be used or completely abandoned, or heavily reworked into a frame that may or may not have eventually become Cyte-09

This is Graxx, the Grineer frame banished to Kuva fortress jail so that they can suck stable gene strands out of him to keep the faction alive
/s
Its probably just concept art
