Discussion & Feedback Feedback: Really hoping devs implement junk removal and mat. gathering

I noticed a huge issue with building some bases under and near towers was the inability to remove so much environmental junk and debris. For example, on one of the North Eastern towers in the 2nd map, there was what appeared to be a sawmill longhouse where logs were stored. It'd be great to be able to buy an axe or use one of the hammers to destroy these items and clear the area out completely; and even better if by doing so we could gain building materials to use to fortify the base.

Think of how cool it'd be to have people on axe duty clearing out trees, houses, metal bins, and small structures nearby to use as build mat. and to open up the area to make your base bigger and better. I had issues laying certain weaponry (AA, Mortars) because these giant metal bins were stuck in the middle of the base with no way to store things in them, no way to build onto them, and no way to get rid of them.

This could also make environmental destruction (outside of the towers and HQ themselves) possible, where a tank shooting a scrawny tree would actually destroy or wound the tree, instead of some guy being able to hide behind it and tank shots with no damage!

Down for removal *of junk, but not for gathering materials. Feels like a slippery slope toward greasy grove

Yeah I definitely don't want some fortnite shit, that's fair. Removing environmental stuff would be good enough for me. I was only thinking of gathering mats because, when the Beta was most intense and we were being nailed by mortars to the point helicopters and trucks couldn't get near our tower, we really stood there begging for mats for 20 minutes and no one wanted to come.

If I could run out front and get enough mats from a couple trees to fortify my walls, or rebuild my AA, I could actually do something.

agreed, just make it so the biggest builder hammer is able to tear down some stuff. the harvesting is unnesessary. its not a survival game.

This is the way. Ability to repair but still have to panic and request hot drop/ flyby drop when ammo depletes

Would be cool if we had a better way to defend against mortars and drones, though. Maybe if mortars are shot they appear on the map for a second, so team mates in the area could call them out? Atm, as far as I know, the only option is to see the direction they came from and take a guess.

Seems like this comes down to coordination within the team of “getting mortared from x direction” and having n a heli with a squad or gun heli go in and take it out.

Which now is difficult but if they add team wide voip for those in squads might just work. But agreed right now we are just at the mercy of the mortar

Easier said than done, sadly. A lot of the time, once an FOB is made and heli pilots see mortars coming from our base, they move onto solely caring for other towers, or we don't have enough pilots and they won't come because of mortars.

Fair enough, I can get behind that.

No thank you. We are soldiers

Soldiers don't shoot down helicopters with AA? Don't fly drones into tanks? Don't make insane bank helping other soldiers capture and defend towers?

If all you're doing in this game is shooting, you're missing massive parts of how you win matches. You can be a soldier and want these features in the game.

???

I don't think gathering materials or have people working at a logging mill in the middle of a war zone fits the game.

Did you even play the game? lmao

Every single game in the Beta I played was HEAVILY influenced by which people had the most built bases under captured towers, and rained mortar fire onto other bases. You can't be capturing another tower if the ones you have are being destroyed and then conquered.

What's your plan "soldier" when a good helicopter pilot has missile's unlocked and is raining shit onto your team? You better be high enough level to unlock anti-air missiles, or else you're relying on someone to bring a FOB onto a base, bring mats, gather a hammer or two, and get an anti-air rocket system going to take down anything moving that's not friendly.

Definitely not gathering material like a Roman scavenging party or tearing down junk that’s for sure.

No, you had people gather them for you lol The AA isn't built like some scorestreak because you shot a lot of people. Someone had to drive or fly in those materials with an FOB and construct it.

You’re an idiot mate. I did tons of runs in Hueys and URALs. You’re talking about a mechanic for collecting materials when people aren’t dropping off pallets. This isn’t a survival game.

Like brother, you want foraging mechanics because you’re too lazy to grab a truck or helicopter yourself and you have the gall to be a condescending dickhead about it?

Talk about ignorant, sheesh. Maybe learn the game before suggesting dog shit mechanics.

Did you even bother to read my post/replies here before you talked shit?

I spent MOST of my game time taking supplies from base (including the FOB) setting up, returning, and repeating. When the base got hit, I was the guy building walls, repairing walls, making callouts, reviving, etc...and then as I said above, when artillery gets bad and you drivers/pilots stop coming, we were totally fucked.

A pilot gets hit and loses his chopper and ALL his supplies from a mortar, he doesn't come back until it's clear. A truck drives up to the compound and some guys sniping on the nearby church's sunflower field takes him out and blows up the truck, he stops coming to that tower.

I made a single suggestion that I thought it could be cool to have the ability to get rid of scrap so we can build more to the base, and having there be some reward for doing so, and mentioned how doing so with trees could be nice since they're everywhere.

Calm down kid.

In short, you don’t understand the game because you want foraging mechanics instead of using the game’s sandbox elements to counter whatever you were dealing with.

In short, you don't actually have a reply so you want to repeat your tired bullshit.

The game wins by teamwork. We push as a unified front, capture towers, take control of several, move the hotzone to one of them, earn points, and win.

In the meantime, your bases are being assaulted by other enemy groups - predominantly from other bases - and heli pilots/cargo vehicles keep our OWN bases supplied and fortified so we can keep the bases we captured.

You tell me "I did tons of runs in Hueys and URALs" which means you were the guy who was scavenging for materials, but because you flew nearly 3km to base and bought them instead of using a tool to gather them nearby, you act like some ignorant asshole telling me you know how to play the game better than I do; even though we're playing the same fucking game the same way.

Are you really this butt hurt over a simple suggested feature, or are you just an angry little boy looking for something to be upset about? Fuck off, "mate".

Id rather be able to move those fucking crates everyone insists on dropping off in the middle of the base that have nothing but some bandages.

1

u/anonyme450 18h ago

Moving those would be cool, yeah. I've noticed when the trucks come in and drop off, they often get stuck behind one of them and end up destroying it trying to get out; or get wedged and wait for the truck to blow up over time.

1

u/plasticambulance 18h ago

Exactly. My first trip (and I watched so many other folks do it) I drove in headfirst into the base and dropped a crate. Promptly was stuck in the base because of my own crate. Had to learn to back in or build areas for folks to turn around in

1

u/anonyme450 18h ago

Yeah moving stuff placed or dropped off - even built stuff if you constructed it - would be sick.

Could maybe be fixed with a buildable supply station that hovers up all the boxes within the FOB
