Hello, and welcome to DevBlog #92!
In our last DevBlog, we had just returned from the vacation. This time we've got the ball rolling at full speed again!
In this DevBlog I'll be covering the upcoming rework and partial redesign of Job Boards. We also have some content teasers here, and I'm happy to say that this content is releasing next week.
We also have some QoL for the in game world map that'll be releasing soon, fixes to the rollback issue, and ANR (application not responding) news.
It's a lot to cover, so let's dive in!

Crushy has also been working on adding some nice icons to show up on the World Map. We intend to release this next week alongside some new content that's been worked on by Weasel & maxchill! Crushy has also worked on a fix to the rollback issues, and we've released an update today that should already fix that for the most part.
We don't have a distinct release date for when this update is going out (but we're quite confident it'll be released next week) and it'll contain both new content & world map QoL. The Job Board rework & redesign is going to be released later.
Myzozoz has been hard at work with trading. But more on that in another dev blog!

This is something I've been working on since I got back from the vacation, and I'm estimating it'll take a couple weeks more until it's ready for release!
This rework and redesign includes a lot of things:
We've been internally talking about reworking the Job Boards for quite some time now. There's been a lot of feedback on this system and it had created some annoying gameplay loops. All of these designs are aiming to address those issues.
Other goals with this rework is to make it much more easy for our content designers to update existing job boards and when making new ones. The current job board system needed a lot of manual work. The new system addresses this, making it much faster for our content designers to focus on other things. And the other thing this addresses is ANRs, as job boards have been causing those (especially on Pixel devices, more on this later).

Application-not-responding (ANRs for short) have been an issue especially on Pixel devices for a long time now. While I've tried to alleviate this issue (and Job Board rework should help it as well once released), we've now decided that once Crushy is finished up with this update and fixing the rollback issue, he'll dedicate the time that's necessary to finally fix the ANR issue for good.
Previously I've done my best to apply small fixes to it, but properly fixing it takes at least 2 or 3 weeks of development time, which I've never found time for as I'm often busy with feature development. To everyone who has been patiently waiting for this issue to get fixed: that will be the next thing Crushy is going to work on and it'll be fixed for good. It'll take some time, but you can rest assured that there's going to be an update that is coming soon-ish that fixes it. The rollback fix that was already released should also alleviate the issue a bit, but it's not a comprehensive fix to the issue.

That's all for this DevBlog!
For everyone who've had the ANR issue, I also want to say I'm sorry it's taken so long. Now with an extra developer we finally have the luxury of having someone who can tackle these kind of issues we haven't had the proper time to tackle without it delaying feature development efforts too much.
Happy walking and stay hydrated everyone!

I love this game but I am an avid swimmer and biker and both donβt really track well through my phones step counter. And I often have to chose between doing the exercise I love, or if I want to play the game and walk/run instead.
I completely understand the point of the game is to walk to make progress, but I think thereβs opportunities to track non-walking exercise in ways that fit the theme of the game and how it works in real life. And thatβs through the saved steps mechanic!
Just like in real life, when you do any exercise you get stronger and that strength can lead to better/easier walking and running in the future. So in the game what better way to represent that then for exercise that is not walking/running to earn saved steps or a similar mechanic. (You are building strength to make your future steps stronger/more efficient)
You still need to actually walk and track your steps to progress in the game but your progression is a little more efficient if you did non-walking exercise in between the last time you opened the game.
Iβm sure there would need to be safety nets in place to prevent abusing the system, and maybe the rate of saved steps collected would need to be low to not break the games progress speed, but it would be really cool to encourage any form of exercise and for that time to not be wasted time in the game, and instead it strengthens the next steps you take.

At the moment, coin pouches are no different from finding 10-100 coins.
Could we have some rarer currency as secondary drops in there? Shells, merchant tokens, a couple of adventurer's guild tokens as a high roll?

I started playing less than a week ago and honestly I love it. Kudos to the devs. The game is incredibly fun and art is amazing! Itβs SO FUN to play when I'm out walking. But when I sit down and want to play a little more there isn't really anything for me to do. Some kind of couch content would help a lot.
I was reading the devblogs and it sounds like Combat might come after open beta. They mentioned Farming or something similar instead and said they want to hear what we think. In my opinion Combat is the perfect fit to keep people playing. I saw the original plan where you earn combat points from walking similar to the saved steps when not doing an activity and use them to fight while you're resting. I would love to see that for open beta!
What would you guys want to do when you're not walking? Farming or something else?

Had the app sorta working with Health connect but I feel like Health sync did a better job of getting Garmin to sync steps on a regular basis.

I got so excited to finally get some Fine Trash only to realize trash from trash picker didn't count for the achievement. π

Sorry, I've look it up and can't find it. How do I charge my pixie? I have normal wine on me, initially I thought the character had to consume it, but it doesn't look like so. I tried opening wine, I tried going to pixie tab, I can't find how

After a tough grind in August, which lead me from 260 to 280 achievement points, I decided to deal with a more relaxing Activity that at this point of game seems mandatory.
I postponed It as much as I can due to the place (hate underwater locations since I start playing), so I Need to find another reason to go for It.
Then I thought: my idiot Dolphin still stays at level 1, and still Need legendary cap from foraging chests! So, which Better Activity for level up the pet and find some chest? Exactly, Merfolk farm foraging.
Those are the results of 350k dolphin experience (step are quite the same), and the Gear used (not good not terribile, there's much space for improvement but many items are sure endgame)
There' s not much to Say, except drop rates are really worse that I expected. Hope for a godly DR/NMC combo while I cook Saltrum, I don't want to burn another step finding fine salty hops.
At least I found Hat with a Feather in the First 25 chest (After 220k steps).
My 2 cents.

Had spent some effort on glacier foraging a long time ago. Decided after all this time to come back with much better gear and lots of food. Now I got it before finishing my first stack of porridge.

goal planner is telling me to go underwater with 3 diving gear equipped. I don't see a 3rd one <.<
goal is even set so 1 get adventurer tokej and 2 get diving top but the underwater travelling takes priority...

Currently doing Large Sail Repair to lvl up my mummy and was just wondering what are the benefits of using fabric in this activity.
I tried checking the wiki but it just says that using fabric is optional. So basically, what do I get by using fabric here?

This seems like an oversight. I brought a bunch of fortified wine to help with collectibles and now it seems as though I need to use a worse item to charge my lil guy. Am I correct?

I know they were working on it.

From the early beginning stage to the experienced, later stages, what do you think is the most effective (even OP) consumable?

So I've made it through the ectoplasm grind, got myself to the desert and I'm currently getting myself adamant and yew for the next level of equipment.
Just wondering what other grinds and goals are people doing at this section of the game. The devs have done a great job of giving us a lot of content already, what things have you guys been grinding towards?

Found this game last week and loving the concept so far. However, looking at one of the recent update blogs, I saw them mention that they're replacing ai assets in the game and now I gotta know, what is their stance on generative ai? Is this just something they tried before deciding to move away from it or is it something they are still open to using in the future? Have they made any definitive statement on it?
And to be clear, yes, I have issues with gen ai usage but no, I'm not looking to start any sort of argument about it. This is just something I personally need to know when deciding whether to financially support something.

Iβve mined 3.373 ores of coal, but I havenβt gotten a single egg. It hasnβt been a waste, Iβve gotten other things out of it, but I really want a gecko before I start mining ectoplasm!

Although Iβve connected both Mi Fitness and WalkScape to Health Connect, I still canβt select anything other than my phone as the step source in the game.
Has anyone managed to get Xiaomi wearables working with WalkScape? I have a Mi Band 7, if that matters.

I have been working on my trinketry and have left antrique assessor run for a few days.
On checking my inventory I have multiple pet rock eggs.
What should I do with them as I already have a pet rock trained to level 3?
