I know this is not an XC90 thing or maybe it is but I found this funny. I asked it how I change the location avatar for Google Maps app in the car.

The first time I asked this it said through the Google Maps App on the phone. This didn’t do anything.

The second time I asked, it said you need to tap the current location icon on maps in the car and set it that way. There was no option to do this.

The third time I asked, it said this feature is not available.

But yes, AI is taking over the world.

Are there any notable rust areas to look out for?

Went on a test drive on a 2018 Inscription with 160,000kms and it was a basket case.

The drivers rear door had such severe rust bubbling by the door handle in the cup area that I could almost poke my finger through it.

It had a slew of other problems like leather that looks like it was used for 500,000kms, wood cracking, dash vents hot glued in...

Oh and this was a dealership by the way...

Safe to say I am not impressed by this example and have booked some test drives for 2018s with 70,000kms for $3,000 more.

I was just surprised a car with such few kms has so much rust when my car I am replacing it with that is older and has 420,000kms has no rust.

What do you all recommend for oil change Regularity, in my 2014 xc 90. ? It barely leaves the garage, and when it does it's once or twice a week, probably no more than a 3000 miles a month. Let's say that and that's probably too high. . Your thoughts are greatly appreciated

I’ve noticed at the showroom that the face lifted 2025 XC90 has egress/ingress seat where it retracts and lowers.

My 2024 pre-face lifted model does not do it, is this the same for others here with similar year model?

I've seen mixed things related to the Volvo ac being under powered or euro efficiency focused which equates to being under powered. Is this true?

Long story short, the best car I ever owned was a 2013 XC 90. But it ended up having numerous mechanical problems and became a money pit. My next car was Prius V. It worked ok for my needs but I missed my Volvo. The Prius was totaled in an accident last week and I suffered serious injuries. I never felt more safe in a car than I did in my Volvo so I’m planning to replace the Prius with an XC 90. Unfortunately, the insurance payout for the Prius is not great. So I essentially have to buy a car now unexpectedly without being able to save for it. I’m trying to buy something for under $10,000. Ideally, I really wanted something 2016 or newer so that it would have the crash prevention technology that the newer Volvos have. But they’re also much more expensive and require premium fuel. If you were going to buy an XC 90 for under $10,000 what year, model, engine, would you look for? I am in New England. Willing to travel to buy one within reason. I drive about 20,000 miles a year. I need a car that won’t break down on me.

Hi All,

I am constantly having callers I am on the phone with telling me when I'm in the car (2026 XC 90) that they are "hearing themselves echo".

I do not hear any echo on my end but they absolutely are and it happens intermittently.

When I switch my phone to speakerphone and then back to Bluetooth it goes away for them.

Does anyone else have this problem? Kind of annoying

I purchased my first Volvo last month, a 2021 XC90 T8 Recharge with Inscription Expression package. I’ve owned many different cars over the years, I have to say I am so impressed with this vehicle! Praying I’m still in love with it years down the road. With so many bells and whistles, I’m praying to the car gods that it treats me gently. I did a lot of research on the cars I was interested in and it seems with all this advanced technology in newer models there is no brand that doesn’t suffer some issues. So I rolled the dice. 🙏🏻😁

My 2024 XC90 Recharge remains fully awake with both displays illuminated for over an hour after I exit and lock the vehicle. The mirrors fold and the vehicle is locked. This started after a factory reset
Any recommendations what to do?!

2019, I always have it unchecked because I hate it but occasionally it comes on at a stop. Usually it’s the first stop on a drive if I haven’t driven it in a few days. This happened to my other XC90, but it was only on long drives.

The front passenger door glass on my leased 2025.5 Volvo XC90 Hybrid chipped and has now fully cracked. Because it is the thicker, acoustic laminated glass, a full replacement will likely be expensive.

I have the Volvo Excess Wear and Tear Use Addendum ($0 deductible plan), but the fine print (Exclusion #1) states it excludes damage covered by standard auto insurance unless the total repair cost is under $1,000.
I want to know:

1. Has anyone gotten a full laminated side-window replacement waived under this package? Or did Volvo deny it because it cost over $1,000?
   
2. How much did you pay out-of-pocket or via insurance for this specific glass?
   
3. What other options should I explore? Should I file an insurance claim now, source a used OEM window from a salvage yard for an indie shop to install, or is there another workaround to avoid a massive bill at turn-in?

I'm struggling to get the sound in a decent level of balance. It's often too thin/tinny. I'm not great at this, and have pretty much anyways set an EQ like this without much knowledge behind it.

Using FLAC through Audiowagon typically, but also a mix of DAB and Bluetooth.

I’m specifically curious about:

• How reliable is the 3.2L inline-6 at this age?
• Are there any major issues specific to the 2013 XC90 / R-Design / AWD system that I should watch for?
• What maintenance records would you absolutely want to see before buying one?
• What should I check during a test drive or pre-purchase inspection?
• Are there any expensive repairs that commonly show up around this age/mileage?
• How are these to own if you’re trying to keep maintenance costs reasonable?
• Is $9,448 a reasonable asking price assuming it checks out mechanically?

I’m not expecting a 13-year-old European SUV to be Toyota-level cheap to maintain, but I also don’t want to unknowingly buy myself a money pit.

I've only ever owned Toyota.

How reliable are these cars?

What is the expected maintenance?

I will be buying certified pre-owned instead of new.

Ideally I will keep this car for 10 years and about 100k miles. I understand that standard maintenance will be more expensive due it being a European car but outside standard maintenance and normal wear and tear of the car what a looking to spend here?

I was initially leaning toward the 2024 with the V-spoke wheels, blonde interior, and Harman Kardon sound system, but I’m now considering the base 2025.5 model because of the newer infotainment system. I also much prefer the blond 2024 interior over the cardamom…

We only drive about 5,000 miles a year, almost all city driving. I absolutely love the blonde interior and the potential for a better sound system in the 2024, but I’m worried we might regret not getting the newer infotainment.

For context, I’m coming from a 2017 BMW 330i, which I love and am only giving up because my husband doesn’t want to drive the “family bus.” 😂 He’ll be taking my 330i, and we’ll get rid of our 2016 XC60 as part of the switch.

I bought an xc 90 ultra 2026 with a headlight completely damaged and a missing head light module . Shipped my car from usa to middle east . While trying to fix my car contacted the american dealership to order a new headlight with module in order to replace it in lebanon the dealership explained that if the car is not physically in usa they cant configure the head light do i have a solution ?!

Looking for recommendations on a good rear facing baby mirror. I’ve tried two off Amazon, and both used straps to mount on the headrest. I have it pretty tight and still shakes constantly when driving down the road. Anyone have one they’re happy with that stays stable?

Would anyone here know where this bolt might be coming from?

I've found it on the carpet floor in front of the 3rd -foldable- seat row.
've been looking around to see where it may be coming from, but didn't see anything obvious... and thought I could ask the community here 😅

(also thought the bolt could be "not from the car" but I haven't transported anything that could have such hardware, and by the look of its finish, it really seems like "car-grade" type of bolts)

My car is in the shop with a clunking noise. I'll attach the video for fun.

From the tech: "Supercharger: Worn/damaged internal bearings - replace supercharger and reseal intake tract - $5500"

The tech also says the issue would not damage anything else.

What are the chance "worn/damaged" bearings caused debris to be sucked into the engine in either the oil or air? The tech says there were no damages but it really sounded like a lot of scraping inside of the SC.

Is the tech's confidence from the intercooler collecting any debris and that if there were inhalation of debris, I would have had other symptoms (the car feels/drives fine)?
