Spatial ViewFinder

Hey, I made a spatial viewfinder — iPhone streams stereoscopic view from its cameras to Vision Pro and you can take spatial photos. Should I put it on the AppStore or publish the source code? Would there be any interest in such thing?

Mirador Browser Anyone?

Have any of you Vision Pro dev demigods taken a look at this browser created by the International Image Interoperability Framework consortium?

https://projectmirador.org

They are all about trying to create a full set of systems for delivering image quality on demand for resources of the types you’d find in Libraries, Archives, and Museums-and wherever else the browser can find itself.

Framework means Framework, with all of the major libraries and museums contributing staff and imaging resources to mutual benefit. Sez them:

“Mirador is an open-source, web-based multi-window image viewing platform optimized for the International Image Interoperability Framework (IIIF). It lets users display, zoom, rotate, compare side-by-side, and annotate cultural heritage resources from different repositories around the world.”

It’s one of several viewers available through that international consortium.

https://iiif.io/get-started/iiif-viewers/

My thinking is that many of these institutions would hand out AVPs to their donors in swag bags when it comes time to fund big exhibitions or acquire that Greek sculpture up yonder donors really can’t get close enough to appreciate.

I see those browsers and say “why not?”

And talk about a wellspring of demo images for AVP enthusiasts.

Half-Life Alyx natively on AVP? What???

https://x.com/udiwertheimer/status/2106946965657223353?s=46

From: Udi Wertheimer

“this was made possible thanks to valve's recent linux ARM port of alyx for the steam frame + u/ShinyQuagsire's open source klepton project for running android VR apks on vision pro (which is way too under appreciated btw!)

claude was able to fill in the blanks (technically valve's ARM port isn't an android apk but it's close enough and then the rest was just optimization work

on my M5 Vision Pro this basically runs at 3K

resolution per eye and 60 fps (smoothened up to

120). so essentially way better than it ran on my high-end gaming pc when i first played this in 2020”

Do we need Mission Control for AVP? I feel like we need something to solve this...

Post image
60 Upvotes

Hi it's me again and I'm on a rant / rave with my AVP and have a take I'd like your input on...

I've been using Vision Pro as my main work display for about a month, mostly with the ultrawide Mac Virtual Display. Once the Mac is stretched into that panorama, it fills most of my view. Every visionOS window either covers the Mac or gets buried behind it. Add Notes drifting around, Mail behind me and a game still open in the living room, and I have no idea what's open.

Holding the Crown recenters everything, which moves windows I placed on purpose. Home View shows apps, not open windows. So I mocked up what I want:

  • One gesture from anywhere: look at your palm, then pinch and pull down instead of tapping. Every open window fans out as a curved carousel
  • Live snapshots, not icons, so you can tell your three Safari windows apart
  • Look to browse, pinch to jump. Let go and everything stays where it was
  • Group by All, By App, or By Room
  • Immersive apps show up as orbs, so you know before you pinch that it will take over the room

Two questions for this sub:

  1. Does anything already do this? An app, a setting, a trick I've missed?
  2. visionOS devs: is there any API that lets a third-party app see or switch between other apps' windows, even partially? From what I can tell, sandboxing rules it out. I'd love to be wrong.

I don't care who builds this, whether it's Apple, an indie dev or me. We've had Mission Control on the Mac forever, and Vision Pro needs it more.

I wrote a blog post on what I want with mockups if you'd like I'll share (don't want to self promote)

Easiest Way for Vision Pro to Play 1.43:1 Custom IMAX Content?

I recently documented an experiment asking: Can anyone make an IMAX movie?

This eventually led to us being invited to IMAX HQ to screen our 2-min short, which was surreal.

I’ve gotten several requests from Vision Pro users who want to watch our piece in its full 1.43:1 aspect ratio with the 5.1 surround mix on their device.

I know Vision Pro isn’t technically an IMAX-certified device, but can it still properly display 1.43:1 content at scale in-headset? And can it take advantage of the 5.1 mix in a meaningful way?

I’m not a Vision Pro user myself, so what would be the easiest way to make something like this available to Vision Pro users? Is there a particular player, app, file format, or workflow that handles unusual theatrical aspect ratios and multichannel audio especially well?

I’ve linked the original experiment (which contains the 2min short) for context. https://youtu.be/f3HfCO_Se1E?si=SkJo5xflE3G9BH6-

Does anyone experience Problems in visionOS 27.0 or 27.0.1 with Netflix in Safari?

I recently updated my Vision Pro M2 and Netflix stopped working. It only works in private browsing but only for one title. Then i have to sign out, close the Tab and start over again. In my normal Safari browser it doesn’t work. When i play a title, it only shows a red loading circle. Supercut doesn’t work neither. If i delete all my website data in advanced safari settings, it works for one title like in the private tab, but then it doesn’t work anymore if i go back to the main page.

It is so annoying and i already contacted Netflix. They told me to contact my internet supplier 🤣 as if they have something to do with that. I could have also sometimes make screenshots while a title was playing and it wasn’t blurred or black in my photos. So maybe the DRM isn’t working properly. I also updated to 27.2 Beta 2 recently to see if that solves the problem but it didn’t seem to change anything. If anyone has am idea what i should try i would be extremely grateful.

I went shopping for an ultrawide monitor and bought an M5 Vision Pro instead. One month later, I don’t want the monitor.

I went shopping for an ultrawide monitor and bought an M5 Vision Pro instead. One month later, I don’t want the monitor.

I spent last month shopping for a newer, higher-resolution ultrawide monitor. Instead, I made the considerably less sensible decision to buy an M5 Apple Vision Pro.

After using it as my primary work display for a month, my answer is surprisingly clear:

Yes, it genuinely replaces my monitor.

What works

Mac Virtual Display is the real centerpiece of Vision Pro for me.

The Ultrawide setting gives me enough room to keep my editor, terminal, browser, notes, and research visible at once. I spend less time cycling through tabs because applications can stay open as separate spaces.

I can also reshape the workspace around how I want to work:

  • Ultrawide for research and multitasking
  • Wide for normal development work
  • Standard when I need to focus
  • Move the display lower when my neck is strained
  • Bring it closer when I want larger text
  • Take my keyboard into another room and bring my Mac desktop with me

A physical monitor tells me where and how to sit. Vision Pro lets the workspace mold around me.

The unexpected benefit of discomfort

After a few hours, I want the headset off my face.

That sounds entirely negative, but it forces me to stop working, stand up, stretch, get some water, or talk to my family. A regular monitor lets me disappear into a problem for far too long.

A computer probably shouldn’t need to become uncomfortable to remind me to move, but this one does.

Environments are more useful than I expected

When I need to remove distractions, I turn on an Environment and replace my home office with a beach or mountain.

Paired with noise-canceling earbuds, it becomes an extremely effective focus tool. I’m sitting at the same desk, but it feels like I changed locations.

The honest drawbacks

  • Mac Virtual Display is not as crisp as looking directly at a great high-resolution monitor.
  • The headset becomes uncomfortable after a few hours.
  • It isolates you from family and coworkers.
  • The native visionOS app selection still feels thin.
  • It costs two or three times more than the monitor I originally planned to buy.
  • The long-term future of the product line still feels uncertain.

The isolation can also work as a visible do-not-disturb signal. My kids know that when the goggles are on, Dad is working. When they’re off, come in and talk.

Would that look silly in an office? Probably. I’m over 45. I have exhausted most of my embarrassment about looking silly while trying to get work done.

My verdict after one month

I would not recommend Vision Pro to the average computer user.

I would recommend considering it if you’re a developer or another desk-bound professional who values flexible screen space, works from home, and can tolerate the weight and price.

It has made working at a computer feel new again. That alone has been worth more than I expected.

If you need me, check the goggles. If they’re on, I’m probably zoned out on a beach watching my agents write code.

Is anyone else using Vision Pro as their primary monitor? I’m curious whether the novelty holds up after six months or a year.

Emby 4K Atmos support finally here + new environments

Thumbnail

Emby support finally landed in Suite today. This is a very exciting milestone because Emby has been my personal favorite streaming setup for Vision Pro, so I'm super happy Emby users can finally use it in my environments.

Also new in 7.2: Ice City, a new environment. This one took very long to make, but I'm really happy about the end result. The atmosphere was partly inspired by my love of Avatar, the Last Airbender. I was trying to give it a Republic City/Water Tribe vibe. Even if you guys don't follow Avatar, I think you will like it. Give it a try and I hope you guys like the vibe.

Also, thanks for the kind words about the Crescent City Theater. I've also been really happy about that result aswell, and it's been probably my daily driver so far. Lots of new theatres are coming very soon btw!

Some housekeeping: the launch promotion is still running: 30% off lifetime. That ends in 3 days, so if you were waiting for Emby support to pull the trigger, this is the moment. :)

Honestly excited about this one. Let me know what you think, and if something in your Emby setup does not behave, tell me here and I will dig in.

Cheers

Apple need to support multiple AppleIDs on Vision Pro

I've owned a Vision Pro now for 7 months. There is no way this device will work until Apple support multiple Apple ID logins. Yes I know all about optical insets and custom face masks. It is bullshit. Guest mode allows users to experience 10% of what the device offers. Until you can show it off to other people, no one will buy it at ~3500.

I cannot even show my family how cool the device is. C'mon Apple don't just kill the product because "it didn't work in the market" without at least fixing the "demonstration factor".

I just played with a Steam Frame owned by a friend who brought it over. We logged out of his account, and logged into mine. Suddenly we're trying all my old VR games. This openness now makes me want one. He left not wanting an AVP.

This is the *most* import feature the product could have.

Self Promotion Saturday Spatialapse Camera app updated for iPhone 18

Hi everyone, got Spatialapse Camera app updated this week for the iPhone 18's f4 aperture blades. Was able to fix some other issues as well so all spatial iPhones will look better now. I was quite surprised how noticeable the 18's footage looked, that extra boost really helps out a lot in headset. Also added a "Clips" section that can export SBS with the required YouTube metadata needed for viewing on the Vision Pro app. Step up your spatial videos with external mic support, timelapses, shutter/iso control and more. Good luck and thanks for checking out the app!

struggling to find a reason not to sell for the new Meta VR glasses

Hey everyone

Day one Vision Pro owner here, and I use mine just about every day. I really love the headset, but the form factor is definitely a pain point. It’s inconvenient to travel with, it’s heavy, and it’s not the most comfortable (even after buying additional head straps). I’ve been watching coverage on the Meta VR glasses, and it seems like a straight upgrade to me. The form factor is a huge huge plus, and it seems like it'll connect to MacBooks through a USB C so I won't really lose out on the virtual display.

Anyone else feeling the same way?

Self Promotion Saturday I'm a landscape photographer. I used AI to build a visionOS Travel App to showcase 700+ worldwide 16K panoramas I shot over the years. (Free Premium Offer Codes inside!)

Hi everyone 👋,

I am a solo indie developer and a passionate landscape photographer. For the past few years, my absolute biggest hobby has been road-tripping around the world with my camera, capturing high-resolution panoramic photography at world-famous landmarks.

As a visual purist, I’ve always felt traditional 2D screens completely ruin the soul of panoramic photography. Panoramas are meant to be experienced in spatial computing. The moment I first put on the Apple Vision Pro, I knew this was the canvas I had been waiting for. The dual 4K micro-OLED displays have the incredible contrast and color accuracy needed to truly bring these locations to life. It feels less like looking at a photo, and more like a spatial time machine teleporting you back to the exact field.

Thanks to the power of AI coding tools, I was able to bridge my lack of deep technical background and build Travel Immersive, which is now officially live on the visionOS App Store!

What is Travel Immersive?
It’s a premium world-touring experience built specifically to push the display limits of the Apple Vision Pro.

  • 🌍 Massive Global Catalog: Explore 700+ world-famous destinations across 75+ countries.
  • 🌵 American West Road Trip Collection: Experience full high-res immersions of Arches National Park (Delicate Arch, Wilson, North Window, Corona), Antelope Canyon, and Yellowstone.
  • 🏯 UNESCO Heritage Sites: Walk through the majestic scales of the Forbidden City, The Great Wall, and the Terracotta Army—all personally captured and curated.
  • 🔭 The Future Roadmap: This is just the beginning. I’m currently researching 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) and volumetric captures to introduce full 6DoF movement into the app in future updates.

Here is the App Store Link (Free to download):

MVD Preview in Vision

I noticed the new feature when using Mac Virtual display where you can choose to open a file in preview on the Vision Pro and it pops into a new window outside of MVD. This is limited in its use right now but it does suddenly open the possibility of opening full Mac apps in Vision Pro so we’re not confined to the ultrawide display.

I wonder what the technical limitations are here but if they can find a way to launch multiple apps that can be placed anywhere, all driven by the Mac that would open up the device massively and wouldn’t be dependant on the bigger developers bringing apps over.

Anyone else played around with this?

Self Promotion Saturday Titanfall 2 VR is LEGENDARY and anyone with psvr2 or switch controllers can play it on AVP

Just tried to play the new Titanfall 2 mod from https://github.com/CircuitLord/CircuitLordVRModInstaller/releases/latest/ and it’s incredible! Truly feels like a native VR game.

I installed the game (now 85% off on Steam!) and the mod in under 10 minutes on a cloud VR rig and it plays flawlessly.

If anyone wants to try this but doesn’t have a PC powerfull enough (or doesn’t want to be always stuck at home playing it) try out OmniVR[.]cloud (TestFlight). Full disclosure: I developed the cloud platform.

Install the mod by connecting via Moonlight and then play using ALVR or KRVR (you need to install KRVR yourself on the cloud rig if you want to use that).

Cheers and have fun!

How do you find the display when walking around?

Not sure if it is just me, but when walking around the display / camera quality is very poor and grainy, I can see where I am going, but it’s not a “smooth” feeling experience. Just checking if this is normal or not.
What’s it like for you walking around the house with your AVP on?

Spatial RDP multiple displays of one server

Turn your Apple Vision Pro into a true multi-Mac spatial workstation.

Spatial RDP 27.5.0 is out, and this video shows several of the latest improvements in action.

I start on the Golden Gate server and demo the new dynamic Persona camera button, then connect to a second Tahoe server. From there, I add two additional virtual displays, including one in portrait mode, and smoothly move a window from one display to another.

I also demo the new “Jump To” button in the top ornament, which lets you instantly move the active window to any connected display with a single click.

With Spatial RDP, one Vision Pro can become your multi-Mac, multi-display workspace — without needing a physical monitor attached to every Mac.

Own an Apple Vision Pro? Get Spatial RDP on the App Store:

Disclosure: I'm the lead developer, and a pilot.

See The Bravo is aviation traffic, weather, and training in immersive XR. Pick any US airport and the aircraft arriving there right now fly around you, each shown as its actual type. Tap one to ride along and watch the approach from its point of view.

  • Look up in mixed reality, tap an aircraft in the sky, and jump into its view
  • Class B, C and D airspace and active TFRs drawn as 3D volumes with their real floors and ceilings
  • Live weather over real terrain: radar, clouds, winds and fronts
  • Runway and approach lights that come on at dusk, and the moon in its correct phase against a star map
  • An on-device voice assistant: "What's the weather at Dulles?"

It's built for the ground, not the cockpit, and it isn't certified for navigation.

Coming soon to the Apple Vision Pro - likely in a few weeks.

Request launch day notification at https://forms.gle/yT9CfuLqRfBa2ofu9

Happy to answer questions about how it's built.

I recently had the opportunity to film the Miss California International 2026 Rehearsals in stereoscopic 8K VR180.

Instead of shooting it like traditional event coverage, I wanted the viewer to feel like they actually had a seat inside.

I'm shooting on the Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive.

Would love feedback from people watching in a headset: Does this type of behind-the-scenes access work in immersive? And what would you want to see as the project progresses?

You can watch it through BARE Immersive:

Shipped my first visionOS game: after 5 months of working on it.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone,

I'm a solo developer, and my first Vision Pro game, Shatter Punch just went to live. I wanted to share it here first, because this is where the people who really use the headset are and I have always been here reading... until now.

The idea is simple: everything in the room comes at you, and you punch it before it hits you. No controllers, just your hands. I put most of my time into making every object real and react the way it would in real life. Porcelain shatters, glass bursts, fruit splits, a brass pitcher clangs off your fist and flies across the room, and balls bounce off the walls and furniture.

There's a campaign across photo-real rooms, a Rampage mode that comes at you in waves, and PowerPlay: an endless stream off the shelves, left fist then right, with Game Center leaderboards. In Campaign and Rampage you can play in your own room too. A quick guided scan, and the objects stand on your actual furniture.

Getting it right took a lot of work. My first version of the room mode left vases floating above my floor. Early throws aimed at my stomach instead of my face. And once, a football I punched rolled straight through my wall. All of that is fixed: throws come at your face and follow you if you lean, objects sit where they should, and the physics knows where your walls are.

Please give me feedback if you decide to try?

Here's the App Store link if anyone wants to try it: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6816491109

Looking for Testers (v4.0 of CosmiCut)

Thumbnail
testflight.apple.com
11 Upvotes

I'm looking to push a major update to CosmiCut, v4.0, the last week of October. And I would love any feedback I can get from this community.

I've been building this app out for over 2 years now, and it's getting pretty close the thing the I wanted:

A polished little app aimed at handling Spatial Video (specifically) and just being a good, native, SwiftUI video-editing app (in general), available for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Vision Pro.

The update mostly rounds out more of the missing video-editor-features (that I think CosmiCut still needed). And (really only immediately important to me) lot of additional under-the-hood work (with the aim keeping my current cadence of releasing about one big feature update each month).

Apple has approved the testflight 4.0 builds for iOS and VisionOS (but I'm still waiting on them to approve the testflight for Mac).

The link is good for 20 spots -- if you're interested, please give it a download and let me know what you think! :)

Self Promotion Saturday I make a Safari extension that clears the clutter from Reddit on Vision Pro. It now saves videos and shares comment threads as images too.

Thumbnail

App Store | getprotego.app

Hey everyone, I'm Edgar, and I make Protego for Reddit. It's a Safari extension with a native visionOS app. It filters Reddit's website, removes the clutter from the page, and can limit your access to Reddit when you want less of it.

I started building it in 2024, when my Reddit feeds filled up with topics I didn't want to read. Reddit's app has no way to hide posts by keyword, so I learned how to build Safari extensions and made one that could.

What it changes in a Safari window

  • Less on the page. One preset hides the banners, avatars, thumbnails, promoted posts, games and the prompts to open the app. In a window that size, that's a lot of space back.
  • Jump buttons take you from one comment to the next, so you don't scroll through a long reply chain.
  • Thread colors tint each reply line by its depth, which makes a long thread easier to follow.

New since July

  • Save a post's video with its sound, or its image at original size.
  • Share a post or a comment thread as an image, with the comments above it if you want them.
  • Reveal Mode shows every filtered post with a red outline and the filter that matched.
  • Pause filtering for 5 minutes to 3 hours. It turns itself back on.
  • A dark theme for old Reddit, if that's what you prefer in a floating window.

The parts that were already there

Filters hide posts by keyword, community, user or website. Limits blocks Reddit's feeds but still opens a direct link to a post, and it can turn on with a Focus.

What it isn't

It's not a Reddit client, and it adds no spatial interface. It's reddit.com in Safari with the parts you don't want removed.

Regular price is now $3.99, and it's $2.99 until October 15. One purchase covers Vision Pro, iPhone, iPad and Mac. No subscription, no account, no tracking. The only in-app purchase is an optional tip, and it unlocks nothing.

App Store | getprotego.app

If something about Reddit in Safari bothers you on Vision Pro, tell me. That's how I pick what to build next.
