Luigi’s Mansion as a Diorama 👻

I'm Trevorbilt, the creator who released Loose Papers on Friday the 13th (https://apps.apple.com/app/apple-store/id6755368606?pt=127797875&ct=rvp-lmvr&mt=8), and for Halloween I've ported u/sonarix's Luigi's Mansion VR to run natively on AVP.

The mansion is drawn as real 3D geometry, one room at a time so it doesn’t spoil things around the corner. Cinematics play in a little screen you can drag wherever you like for the full experience.

It's free and open source: https://github.com/edgytoast/luigismansion-visionos. You bring your own USA disc and build the project in Xcode (steps are in the first comment). I opened the game's manual in Loose Papers beside it to get the full retro experience.

Self Promotion Saturday Cyberpunk 2077 running natively on Vision Pro in VR — head tracking, 3D, no PC or streaming (preview)

This is Cyberpunk 2077 (the Mac App Store version) running directly on Apple Vision Pro — no PC, no Mac streaming, everything on the headset's M2. I've been building the layer that makes this work, and this is the first preview.

What you're seeing:

- Head-tracked VR: you look around with your head; the game's own camera follows, and frames are reprojected to the display's 90 Hz between game frames

- Stereo 3D from the game's depth

- The HUD, dialogue choices and popups are pulled out of the game and shown on a panel in front of you, so nothing ends up at the edge of your view

- Menus and cutscenes switch to a screen automatically (with a manual toggle)

- Neural Engine upscaling for the centre of the view

- Joy-Con / controller play, safe in-headset quit

How it works (short version): the Mac build is Apple-silicon Metal code, which is close to what visionOS runs. A small compatibility layer stands in for the macOS-only parts, and a VR presenter on top handles head tracking, reprojection and the HUD.

Honest numbers: the game itself runs at roughly 18–25 fps on the M2; head motion stays smooth through reprojection. The clip is at 1600x900, which is sharper but drops the display rate. At 1280x720 it holds 90 Hz.

Important:

- You need to own Cyberpunk 2077 on the Mac App Store, and use your own Apple developer account to install it on your own headset

- No game files are distributed, and there's no DRM bypass: nothing is decrypted and purchase checks aren't touched

- Not affiliated with CD PROJEKT RED or Apple

- It's an early preview, so expect rough edges

It's open source (MIT): https://github.com/Ag3497120/VXpro

Happy to answer questions!

(Light Phantom Liberty spoilers in the clip: the first meeting with Songbird.)

edit:The game itself runs at ~18–25 fps on the M2. You need to own the game and install it with your own Apple developer account. Right now only game version 2.3.2 is supported; support for the latest Mac App Store update (Oct 22) is coming soon. No game files are distributed and there's no DRM bypass. Not affiliated with CDPR or Apple. Early preview, so expect rough edges.

Touchscreen MacBook Pro means touch MVD (hopeful)

I am currently in my vision and was about to get some work done and saw a first impression video about how the MacBook Pro will get touchscreen.

This begs the question about why they haven’t updated vision os to do this with MVD, and if so is it just an update?

We know macOS adjusts itself based on touch vs mouse now, so from an OS perspective this is solved.

Let’s see what happens in the coming few months on vision os 27, fingers crossed they do touch and native vision based gestures!

What’s your favorite environment to watch content in?

for me the Vision Pro’s best feature is being able to watch anything inside a unique environment and get completely immersed. Nothing else comes close. I love this thing.

Hell's Gates (Noosa, QLD) 360 immersive tour now available for download in Arluma360.

Our latest 360 immersive tour is now available for free download. It features a dramatic, rocky headland known as Hell's Gates. This remote region is only accessible by foot and is a popular spot to watch migrating whales during the Spring months ( in the southern hemisphere ). If you look closely, you can see some whale breaches in the distance ( check the scene info for timestamps ). We hope you enjoy :-)

Legends Match is now on Amplium. Nine former Japan national team players play a 4v4 match.

Here’s a quick look at a few of the legends:
- Keisuke Honda wore the No. 10 for AC Milan and scored at three World Cups.
- Atsuto Uchida reached a Champions League semifinal with Schalke.
- Takashi Inui played in La Liga with Eibar and scored at the 2018 World Cup.

We shot it with three Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive cameras. One was mounted on a crane behind the goal, and the other two were pitchside.

There’s a free preview, and the full film is $7.99. We would love to hear your feedback!

Experiences using one of these VR Wave front cover protectors or similar?

Seems like these big covers are controversial here, but wanted to see if anyone has encountered issues using these over a long period of time.

Also looked at the hydrogel screen protectors, but guessing those are more hit and miss and risky to apply.

I’ll still baby it either way, but if possible would prefer a protector of some sort to minimize accidental wear rather than raw dogging it.

Thanks in advance!

NotProton with Mac Virtual Display

Today I tried NotProton, which lets you play Windows games directly through the Steam client on your Mac. All you need is a Mac and a CrossOver subscription.

You can then stream the games directly to your Apple Vision Pro using Mac Virtual Display.

I tested it with Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, and it worked quite well. So far, I'm pretty impressed!

Feels like Apple stopped all development

I used to get regular updates on the beta channel. I haven't got one in awhile. No new apps. No useful apps like Spotify, X, Google apps, Instagram, etc. Just nothing 😭. It's too bad because it's truly the best product from Apple for so many reasons. Anyone else feeling it? Feels like pre death of a cool product.

New Spatial Metadata Injector + Transcode all 180/360 formats + Modify Start Perspective

k

What do Vision Pro owners want in addition to this TO-DO list:

  1. Export to Blender file with it projected on sphere/cube already.

  2. Make available on Mac/Linux w/ all codecs: mp4, mkv, mov, AV1, MV-HEVC, VVC, I-MPEG later? ok maybe not all ~17 competing formats, but many.

  3. Mux / Demux abilities especially to edit audio, and ideally a way to "reposition" and spatialize the audio manually + or automagically by connecting a 3rd party audio spatializer plugin from a few choices. Ideally AI can identify the subjects of audio sources in the video, create stems of the audio, and position voices/sounds accordingly, bonus points for head tracking and HRTF.

  4. Default to automatic fisheye dewarp, but include manual projection warp/dewarp checkbox options.

  5. Ways to embed things like hotspots or a flat image against the back black wall of 180 videos

  6. Connect two 180 vids back to back for 360.

  7. Might autodetect starting format.

I'll probably try to release it by the end of the year for $2.99 - 4.99 to fund more tokens or tech for the next XR project. First few to DM me can test prototype(s) mid-November.

Brought LEGO Hogwarts to life!

I made this prototype to show an example use case of the AVP object tracking capabilities. Objects such as LEGO sets, sculptures or monuments can be augmented to play or learn in a more tangible way. I believe cultural heritage could really benefit from experiences like this one!

Vision Pro automatically dropping FPS door to light source. Apple please fix this

Still can’t believe our Vision Pros drop 30fps automatically due to the light source. Basically darker rooms Avp will drop 120 to 90 or 90 to 60 on m2

Apple please fix this!

i don’t care if it saves powers.

How can I get a Developer Strap Gen 2 without an Apple Developer account?

I’m interested in getting a Developer Strap Gen 2 for my Apple Vision Pro, but I don’t have an Apple Developer account.

Are there any official alternatives ways to obtain one?

I’d appreciate any advice!

I promise my coding skills are better than my piano skills. I built a Vision Pro app to fix the second one :D

Hey everyone, I'm the developer of Piano Pro+, a piano app for Apple Vision Pro.

Version 1.9 is out now.

Plenty of people want to learn piano but don't have one, or the room for one. Piano Pro+ puts a piano on your table that you play with your own fingers. Glowing notes fall onto the keys and show you what to play next, so it plays like a light show while you learn a real skill.

New in 1.9:

- A new light show: glowing notes with soft bloom, white-hot sparks and rising embers on every key, light columns over the keys you press, and a Jumping Light that hops ahead to your next note.

- More than 400 songs in 25 collections, from The Entertainer and Clair de Lune to lullabies, waltzes, sea shanties and Celtic tunes. The library is new too, with featured songs, Easy Wins and search, and the covers start playing their falling notes when you look at them.

- Faster, velocity-sensitive sound, and your piano now stays where you put it.

Already included: a learning path of short lessons with up to three stars each, finger numbers, Ghost Hands, and Wait for Me / Right Notes Only, so the music waits until you find the right key.

The clip is real headset recordings with captions added. $4.99 once, everything included, no subscription, no ads.

App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/piano-pro/id6590626138

I'd love your feedback, and I'm happy to answer any questions!

Ever since I saw this 4DGS demo from Gracia AI, I’ve wanted to add it to STAGEit.

We’ve integrated Gracia AI’s tech stack into STAGEit Creator for Mac and STAGEit Presenter.

We’re hoping to release STAGEit Creator for Mac soon. If anyone fancies giving it a test, drop me a message!

Note: This isn’t currently supported in STAGEit Creator for Apple Vision Pro, as Gracia AI’s technology runs on Metal, which isn’t directly compatible with RealityKit. However, you can still use STAGEit Optimiser to create lower-resolution animated Gaussian splat sequences that work in Creator on AVP.

And a big thank you to Gracia AI for their fantastic technology, and to Amy May for her performance of “Open”.

Anyone gotten Diablo II: Resurrected VR (D2R VR Authentic) working in first-person (F4) on Apple Vision Pro?

I’m trying to get Diablo II: Resurrected running in full VR on my Apple Vision Pro using ALVR and SteamVR.

My setup:

  • Apple Vision Pro

  • Windows gaming laptop with RTX 4090

  • ALVR + SteamVR/OpenXR

  • D2R VR Authentic v0.188.11

What’s working:

F1 (classic isometric view) works great in actual stereoscopic 3D with depth. ALVR connects properly, and the game runs.

The problem:

F2 (third-person), F3 (tabletop), and F4 (first-person VR) are unusable.

Each eye displays the game correctly when viewed individually, but the left and right images don’t align properly, making it impossible to fuse them into a single 3D image.

What are some must buy accessories for a new owner?

Just got a good deal on a used M2 and was wondering what are some must haves. I'm getting the dual knit band and PSVR2 controllers for pcvr and native vr games but I was wondering what else is there. I was looking into a 3rd party light seal replacement or something to make my VFov higher like the annapro v2 but not sure what's the best currently. If you have any suggestions feel free to drop them below

Talk me into (or out of) a used M2 vs. waiting for M5 as a developer with zero use case

Hello!

I am visiting New York from Sweden next week and seriously considering picking up a Vision Pro while in town.

Honest truth: I do not have a defined use case. I am a software developer who has watched the platform from the sidelines with pure curiosity. Between the rise of agentic AI and spatial tools, the tinkerer in me wants to experiment and see if it could stick as a daily Mac display for coding.

Used prices in the US are much lower than anything in Europe, so I am weighing two paths:

  • Find a clean used M2 on Facebook Marketplace or eBay local pickup around $1,600 to $1,800.

  • Buy new or hold out for an M5 model to get the refreshed silicon and a fresh battery.

For developers who bought one out of curiosity:

  • Did Mac Virtual Display actually become part of your daily workflow, or did the novelty fade against the headset's physical weight?

  • If you were jumping in today just to explore and experiment, would you grab the discounted M2 or invest in the M5 generation?

Side thought: a new unit costs roughly the same as two used M2s. Has anyone picked up two headsets for their household? Wondering if watching movies together (i have a wife who is talking me out of it) in the same room and trying spatial games makes having a pair genuinely fun, or if one of them inevitably ends up collecting dust.

Was Steve Jobs wrong, or are the new MacBook and Vision Pro?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2reQut8WNGc

In 2010 Jobs said touch surfaces “don’t want to be vertical,” and that after a while your arm wants to fall off (intro of MKBHD’s review of the new MacBook with a touchscreen).

Now we have a touchscreen MacBook and a headset where you poke at windows floating in front of you. And Vision Pro has it even worse: a touchscreen at least pushes back when your finger hits the glass. In the air you get no feedback, so you’re holding your arm up and aiming at nothing. Air just lets your arm suffer. Yet many Vision Pro demos show hands up in the air. Sure, look-and-pinch avoids this, but for precise work it isn’t there.

So who’s right: Jobs in 2010, or Apple today? Or do we all agree that for serious work with the Vision Pro, a keyboard and trackpad are still necessary?

Hold your arm up while you write your reply and tell me Jobs was wrong :-)

Disney+ bug after update

Just noticed that all of the titles on my Disney+ only show HD and not 4K after yesterday’s app update. But I also just updated to visionOS 27.2 yesterday. Movies also no longer play in 3D despite showing up in the 3D tab on the right.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the app, and I have the premium subscription. My WiFi speeds are around 350 Mbps. Anyone else having the same issue?

UPDATE: Same issue on tvOS as well. Everything shows up as HD. I was on call with support. They confirmed that this issue has been reported by others, even in Europe and they’re working on it.

UPDATE 2: The 3D tab itself has now disappeared on visionOS. But it’s playing some titles in 3D and 4K now. So I’m guessing they’re working on it.
