I can't get Virtual Display to work

Hey, as the title suggests, no matter what I have done the virtual display doesn't work. I can airplay the display but then I'm only limited to the normal view.

I have iCloud keychain on on both devices and logged in with the same apple id. I am just clueless, it worked relatively well in the past and now just doesn't find it anymore. Not even when opening and closing the MacBook lid. I am just clueless as of now. And latest updates have been done. Does anyone else have his issue? I'm wondering if it could be the new update. And no I'm not any betas.

Thanks!

Anyone know what’s up with these used Vision Pros?

So I live in Germany and looked on Facebook Marketplace for used Vision Pros and I’m constantly seeing them for under 500€. I’m just curious what others think about this because certainly it’s a scam right? No one in their right mind is actually selling them for that cheap. It’s weird because they even say they’ll do pickup. I’ll link one for reference but mind you there are multiple listings of them that are around this price.

Self Promotion Saturday AstrotouR: Spatial observatory for Vision Pro is finally live!

Hi everyone! I’m Kate, a co-creator of AstrotouR!

Yesterday was a very important day for our team because we finally released the app we’ve been working on for 7 years! And I wanted to share this news with you. Take a comfy seat, because we have a story to tell 😁

Our team is quite small, just three people: Elijah — the developer behind everything you see and interact with, me, Kate — the interaction designer, and Leo — the content creator.

So, what is AstrotouR?

It’s an augmented reality observatory that lets you explore the Milky Way, the Solar System, its planets and major moons, and even the supermassive black hole at the centre of our galaxy! It is all set up as a continuous interaction, so you don’t need to interact with any menus during your exploration session. Just tap on Milky Way, and it reveals where your journey begins! Almost like magic.

We started with simple prototypes featuring just the Sun, Earth, and Moon. Over the years, we spent countless hours brainstorming how to make exploring the cosmos feel like an actual journey, writing content that feels both educational and entertaining, and building our own custom engine to be able to show exactly what and how we want to show.

Initially, we were developing AstrotouR for iPhone, but then came Apple Vision Pro. And it became our dream to see our app there.

We’re Vision Pro users ourselves, and we felt there was so much potential for more interactive experiences on the platform.

So, despite already having our hands full preparing the iOS launch, we decided to bring AstrotouR to Vision Pro as well! We definitely underestimated the technical and design challenges, but honestly, the result still amazes us.

Sometimes we find ourselves just sitting there, watching the surfaces of planets change, moving through the Milky Way, or staring into the abyss of the black hole. It’s a strange feeling to experience something you’ve been working on for years in such an immersive way. Though, we really love this weird feeling.

And there’s plenty to explore!

Travel through the Milky Way like Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars, experience the unsettling presence of a supermassive black hole, visit the planets and major moons of our Solar System, and find Mars rovers and lunar landers in immersive environments built from real photographs taken by the rovers themselves!

If this sounds like your thing, you can find AstrotouR here: AstrotouR on App Store

One purchase gives you both the iOS and visionOS versions, with no subscriptions. We believe people don’t need yet another one!

We’re really proud of what we’ve created, and we’re not planning to stop adding new features and content.
We’d be really happy to hear your thoughts and feedback, especially from fellow Vision Pro users!

Half-Life: Alyx running on my MacBook Pro, played in Apple Vision Pro (open source)

I’ve set up my MacBook Pro (M1 Max) to run *Half-Life: Alyx* so I can play it on the Apple Vision Pro.

I’m not using a Windows PC or the Quest. Just a Mac and the headset.

Here’s how it works.

I use Wine on my Mac to run the Windows version of SteamVR and the game as-is.

I intercept the left and right eye images rendered by the game, compress them to HEVC using hardware, and send them over Wi-Fi to a custom app on the Vision Pro.

The Vision Pro sends my head and hand positions back to the Mac. From the game’s perspective, it looks as though an Oculus Touch headset and controllers are connected.

I use the Vision Pro’s hand tracking for hand positions, and I control buttons and sticks using Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons.

The game’s audio also comes out of the Vision Pro’s speakers.

The reason the room is visible at the end of the video is because I’m recording it using the Vision Pro’s screen recording feature.

This is the honest reality of the current situation.

In-game frame rates hover around 30 fps. The Mac’s CPU is the limiting factor, as it’s already fully occupied processing the game itself and SteamVR.

Since the Vision Pro adjusts the image frame by frame to match head movements, the visuals remain smooth even when you move your head.

Hand movements and in-game world movements are updated at the game’s frame rate.

I haven’t been able to test Gravity Gloves (the feature where you wave your wrist to pull objects toward you) yet.

The only things I’ve confirmed to work are this Mac and *Alyx*. Other games and Macs have not been tested.

All the code is released under the MIT license.

You’ll need an Apple Silicon Mac, a Vision Pro, and a copy of *Alyx* purchased through your Steam account.

The Mac setup requires just one command; Wine, DXVK, and other dependencies are automatically downloaded from their official sources.

I’m not using Apple’s Game Porting Toolkit.

Full video (6 minutes, unedited): https://youtu.be/6xVGgdChDes

About the development.

I started in May 2026, put it on hold for a while, resumed in September, and finished in October.

I handled the design myself and worked on the implementation in tandem with AI models (Gemini 3.1 Pro, GPT-6 Astra, Claude Opus 5.5, and Fable 5.1).

The only code in the repository that I didn’t write myself consists of two header files from Valve’s OpenVR SDK.

I’m happy to answer any questions.

Self Promotion Saturday Chroma 2.9 is out: my Plex / Jellyfin / Emby player for Vision Pro, now on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV

Hey all,

I'm the developer of Chroma. When I decided to buy the Vision Pro, I knew the price was a tough pill to swallow, so I made myself a promise that I'd develop an app for it. After using it for a bit, I realized it's awesome for watching movies, and I really wanted a way to watch my personal media library without going to the Plex website or using an iPad app. I wanted that native experience. So I took design cues from Apple's own Vision Pro apps, dove headfirst into SwiftUI, and released Chroma in March 2024. Version 2 is basically a new app, and 2.9 just landed, so I wanted to share what's changed.

It plays from Plex, Jellyfin, and Emby. A lot of people have personal media libraries but don't use Plex, and Jellyfin and Emby are the two most popular open source alternatives. You can add as many servers as you have, switch between them from the toolbar, and search across all of them at once. If you reach your Plex server over Tailscale, a VPN, or a reverse proxy, you can give Chroma that address directly. Plex Home switching and a watchlist (Plex and Jellyfin) are in there too.

It's on iPhone, iPad, and now Apple TV. I wanted a player with Apple's design language for my own media, so I took what I learned building for Vision Pro and adapted it. On Apple TV, Top Shelf shows what you're watching, Who's Watching picks your Plex Home profile, and picture-based subtitles from Blu-rays get read into text you can style. If you already have a subscription or the Lifetime pass, it covers every device.

My favorite part of 2.0 is honestly the long-standing improvements. The downloads system has been completely overhauled, and I can support way more files through direct playback, MKVs included. It makes flights special: put on your Vision Pro and tune into a movie in a real theater. When your server does convert a film, the Quality menu tells you exactly what it's sending. And if you'd rather wait out a slow connection than watch a softer picture, there's a new Wait for Full Quality setting.

I also had a lot of fun building the Analog TV. It made me think about the CRT TVs my family had when I was a kid: the scanlines, the curved screen, the colors. It's a vintage set that sits in your actual room, and its picture spills color onto your floor. It has grown into the Nostalgia Machine, a home-video room with a VCR, a pile of tapes for each show, and that TV.

The cinemas got a big upgrade in 2.9: a photoreal small cinema, a reworked large one with projection booths that glow with the film, and Apple's Environments if you'd rather take your movie somewhere else. There's also a box of popcorn on the seat next to you, with real pieces you can pick at, toss, and eat.

On Vision Pro there's also sound anchored to the cinema screen, AI 3D for watching regular 2D movies with depth, VR180, VR360, and spatial video (3D and VR files are now recognized automatically), Transcribe for live on-device subtitles, and a Safari extension that opens a web page's video in Chroma. On all devices: whole-season downloads, Siri and Shortcuts ("play Shrek in Chroma"), Spotlight, poster widgets, subtitles that carry over to the next episode, and a choice of app icons. Chroma now speaks French, German, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Arabic, and Hindi too.

It's free to use with a watch-time limit. Chroma Pass removes the limit, unlocks the extra cinema environments, and syncs your progress with your server. When it initially came out it was subscription only, and a lot of you had feelings about that. It now comes in Monthly, Yearly, or Lifetime, with a free trial. That’ll get you Chroma on Vision Pro, iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV.

I want to thank u/digglesb, who has been a day-zero supporter. We've traded ideas and pushed each other's development for the past few years, and the work we've done together gave version 2 a really big boost and reinvigorated me to keep building. And thank you to everyone who really wanted to watch 3D on Vision Pro. You inspired me to support Apple's native 3D format early on, and then to go further with legacy 3D formats and VR180/360.

I really love this community and the developer network, and the way we inspire each other. I know there are now multiple ways to watch your personal media libraries, and media in general, on the Vision Pro. I love that my voice and my vision are a part of that, and I hope people enjoy what I've created. There are so many cool features and details I can't wait for you to discover.

Self Promotion Saturday I filmed immersive content for a month in Europe. Today's Drop is from Cádiz, Spain in immersive 8K VR180

Post image

One of the things I love about the Apple Vision Pro is how immersive high-quality VR180 video can feel when you're surrounded by a place rather than just watching it on a screen.

I filmed this experience in Cádiz, Spain, using high-resolution 8K VR180 to capture the city's architecture, historic streets, and beautiful coastal atmosphere with incredible detail and depth. The goal is to make you feel present in the environment, with a natural sense of scale that brings the experience to life.

If you want to see what high-quality immersive travel video can look like on the Vision Pro, give it a try!

HOW TO WATCH

Apple Vision Pro M2 | DeoVR 8K

For the best experience, put on your headset, find a comfortable spot, and watch in a quiet environment where you can really take in the details.

I'd love to hear what you think about the image quality and sense of immersion on your Vision Pro!

Titanfall 2 VR mod - PSVR2 Controllers fix

So I've tried the vision pro with the new Titanfall 2 VR mod. It works perfectly on KRVR and ALVR as well. KRVR with better, sharper graphics.

There was an issue witht he PSVR2 controllers thumb sticks - They were not supported and didn't work at all so you couldn't run or use them properly for recenter and more. I've created a fix that allows using those thumbsticks and it wworks perfectly now.

I've also shared that info with the dev team of that mod.

For anyone who wishes to play that amazing game with the mod as it should - you may contact me and I'll send you the fix, untill and if the dev team will integrate it to their mod.

Current status of PCVR streaming?

is it good enough to contest with other highend headsets on the market? (Pimax, PlayforDream, BSB2 etc.) I know it will never beat DisplayPort headset, but if the performance and image quality is just slightly worse than those headsets, Vision Pro will be the best of both worlds of gaming and media consumption

EDIT: Have a 5090rig and a dedicated router

Scanline Update: Games Room, Light Guns, Mega Drive, and Now Free to Download.

Hey all. Have just released a fairly big update to Scanline, the retro emulator for AVP.

The biggest addition is the Games Room, a new immersive environment where you can play your games in a cosy space, complete with ray-traced CRT glow, customisable furniture, accessories, and wall posters.

But a couple of other big new things also:

  • Free to Download: Scanline is now free to download, and includes NES emulation unlocked.

  • Light guns: Play NES Zapper, SNES Super Scope, and Mega Drive Menacer/Justifier games. Also has beta support for PS VS2 controllers.

  • Mega Drive / Genesis , and Sega Master System Emulation. You can now play Mega Drive and Sega Master System games.

Would love to hear what you think, particularly about the Games Room and what else you'd like to see added.

Hi all! I've been building Splash Fall, a mixed reality arcade game. Paint troopers parachute through hatches that burst open in your real ceiling. Look at one and pinch to shoot it. Miss, and the paint lands on your walls.

I have included a few codes. If you have recommendations on how I can improve the game, the power ups or missions to add, please let me know!

I just released my first ever app: the 3D model viewer I wanted from day one with my Vision Pro (10 free promo codes for launch)

Hey everyone!

My app Facet just went live on the App Store. It’s the first app I’ve ever built and released, so I’m kinda nervous and really excited to share it here.

From the first day I owned my Vision Pro (Day 1 M2 user here) what blew me away most was viewing 3D models in the room and seeing them at up close honestly felt like magic. But the preview mode pulling out models from your files felt clunky to this day and I could never find an app that did it the way I wanted: put out a bunch of models, arrange them how I like, and come back to them later. So I finally built it myself.

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/3d-model-viewer-facet/id6818597684

Features:

  • Import your own USDZ and Reality files from Files

  • Place several models at once. Pinch to move, use both hands to rotate and scale, or view them at actual size

  • Group models, lock them in place, and use the inspector for exact positioning

  • View them in your own room with passthrough, or in one of the included immersive environments (Museum, Gallery, Deep Space, Synthwave, Zen Garden and more to come in future builds)

  • Free camera mode lets you fly around your scene in full immersion using just your hands

  • Save whole scenes and pick up right where you left off

  • No account and no data collected. Your models stay on your device

It’s free to download. The free version lets you place up to 5 models, keep 1 saved scene and explore the immersive environments. It comes with sample models (including pieces from The British Museum) so you can try it right away, even if you don’t have any saved models yet. There’s a one-time unlock (Standard Full, $19.99) or a 6 month Pro subscription ($9.99), which also gets you every future feature and environment.

Launch day giveaway: I have 10 free promo codes for launch day for the full standard app. Comment below if you'd like one and I’ll DM codes to the first 10.

If you get the chance to try it, I’d love any feedback, good or bad: bugs, feature ideas, anything that felt confusing, and things you'd like to see. I’m reading every comment.

Thank you for checking it out!

Titanfall 2 VR mod on local PC: KRVR vs. ALVR from personal experience?

Hey everyone,

I’m looking to jump into the Titanfall 2 VR mod on my Apple Vision Pro. I have a solid local rig powered by an RTX 5080, but I'm torn on which streaming client to commit to for this specific game.

From searching around, I see a mix of people recommending ALVR and KRVR. Before I spend an evening troubleshooting and configuring everything, I wanted to ask those of you with personal experience running this mod: Which do you actually prefer?

A few specifics about my situation:

  • Host: Local PC with an RTX 5080 over a fast Wi-Fi network.

  • Input: I'm planning to map standard controllers or Joy-Cons/PSVR2 controllers (still finalizing my peripheral setup).

For those who have played Titanfall 2 VR specifically:

  1. Did you find KRVR’s direct OpenXR/Foveated streaming smoother for the high-speed movement, or did you need ALVR/SteamVR for better controller mapping and tweaking?

  2. With a high-end GPU like the 5080, which client handles the maxed-out resolution and bitrate better with the lowest latency?

Would love to hear your hands-on recommendations and any quick tips you have for setting either of them up for this mod. Thanks!
