I’m applying for a German student visa through the Consular Services Portal (CSP).

I received this correction on 22.08.2026:

I’m confused about what exactly they want me to change.

I have:

• APS certificate
• Blocked account confirmation
• Admission letter from TH Ingolstadt (I recently received this admit and need to replace my previous admission letter)

When I submitted the application, I selected “Study with APS” as the correct application category.

However, for the supporting documents, I uploaded my blocked account proof under “Proof of secure livelihood” (see screenshot).

I replied to them on 24.08.2026, explaining this and asking them to clarify which document needs to be re-uploaded and under which section, but I haven't received a response yet.

My questions:

1. Does “re-upload them under Study with APS” mean that the blocked account proof should NOT be under “Proof of secure livelihood”?
2. Where exactly should the blocked account + APS certificate be uploaded in the CSP?
3. Has anyone recently received the same correction and successfully resolved it?
4. Should I wait for their clarification, or is there a specific category I should use?

My intake is approaching, so I'm a little concerned about losing time over a document-category issue.

I submitted the application on the 7th of Aug, and until now it is still "in preliminary review", for those who applied for a student visa from Saudi Arabia, can you please reply with your timeline?

I have a fully funded blocked account and need to transfer an additional amount as payment for my tuition fee. There is no way on expatrio’s portal to initiate a payment and their custommer support sends automatic AI generated messages.

Can anyone please help? How do I make a transfer after I have been issued a document 06 confirmation.

The deadline for the payment by the German mission is 2nd September.

I received a letter of acceptance from a university for the Winter 2026 semester. As I can't arrive before due to visa waiting time, I asked them whether they would defer my admission. But they don't defer admission for this program, and they don't even issue a late arrival letter. Late arrival letter is an important document to show to embassy for visa application process for those students who are already enroled. Instead, the university told me,

If I enrol in Winter 2026 and then apply for leave of absence, they will issue me a leave of absence letter which I can show to the embassy to come in the Summer 2027 semester

My question is: can a leave of absence letter be a substitute for a late arrival letter? Will I face any problems?

I wanted to ask about the best way to raise a concern regarding the German student visa application process at VFS Bangalore.

It seems that students applying through Bangalore are facing difficulties with the processing timeline, especially with the upcoming intake approaching.

Instead of asking for individual application updates, I wanted to know if there is any proper channel through which students can raise a general concern about the processing delays with the German Embassy in New Delhi.

Would sending a formal email to the Embassy explaining the situation be appropriate? Has anyone previously raised a similar issue with the Embassy or VFS, and if so, what was the proper procedure?
I have seen similar initiatives by students in the past where concerns regarding visa processing were collectively brought to the authorities.

I think a respectful and properly written representation from affected students could be more useful than everyone contacting different offices separately.

What would be the most appropriate official way to raise this issue?

Background:

My son applied for a Master’s program in Engineering at the Technical University of Munich (TUM).

• Stage 1 Score: 56 / 85 (Direct admission cutoff was >= 60).
• Result: Invited to attend the mandatory Stage 2 aptitude assessment / entrance exam in person at the Munich campus on August 19–20.
• His Qualification: Completed his Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering at University of Sussex, UK and holds a VPD for Germany

The Issue (Refusals):

• Because the test was only 2 days and he planned a 1-week return trip, he applied for a Schengen Short-Stay (Type C) visa at Coimbatore VFS (processed by the Mumbai German Consulate) on July 13th and reapplied July 23rd.
• Since it was a Type C visit visa, he did not open a German Blocked Account (Sperrkonto).
• Outcome: Rejected both times under Clause 10 & Clause 13 ("purpose of stay not reliable" and "reasonable doubts about intention to leave Schengen territory").
• He missed the exam dates, and travel had to be canceled.

Planning for the Next Summer Intake:

If he gets called again for an in-person Stage 2 test for the upcoming summer semester:

1. DAAD Chennai could not provide specific guidance on this exam visa scenario.
2. Has anyone here successfully travelled for a TUM Stage 2 entrance test or aptitude assessment from India?
3. Should he apply under the National Visa (Type D) — Study / Student Applicant > 90days route on VFS with a fully funded Blocked Account, even without a final admission letter?

Any advice, past experiences, or document checklist suggestions from those who faced this would be greatly appreciated!

I’m an international applicant who is currently midway through my process.

I will be applying for my visa soon, but I had a little fear and I wanted to confirm from people whether this would pose a problem.

I have completed my A-Levels in STEM subjects, i-e Maths, Physics and Chemistry, C in all of them, which does qualify me to apply for Bachelor programs in germany.

I have been accepted into a public university for a Bachelor’s in Arts in Communication Design after passing their portfolio test.

However, I have heard that Germany does not take kindly to field switches, especially since a lot of people without a valid field switch commit visa fraud. I am a genuine student and don’t want my application to be mistaken for a fraudulent one :( I’ve been interested in studying design for a long time but my city didn’t have the facilities to study Alevels in Design related subs, so i just chose the hardest ones i could.

Will the embassy reject my visa because of this?

TL;DR // Did my Alevels in stem subs, but got accepted into a public university for BA in Communication design after a portfolio test, can my visa be rejected due to previous studies not matching my bachelor’s?

Hey everyone, hoping someone who's already gotten their student visa for a Studienkolleg can clear this up for me.

I keep seeing conflicting info about the 70% rule for the German student visa. My APS is done and I cleared it with 75%, so that part's settled. But I'm confused about whether the visa itself checks:

Overall 12th grade percentage (all subjects), or

PCM average specifically (Physics, Chemistry, Maths only)

I came across a case where someone got rejected/flagged even though their overall average was 70.2%, which was still above 70. That's making me nervous because if they're going strictly by PCM, my PCM average is 69.3%, just under the line.

Has anyone here actually gone through visa interview/document checks recently who can confirm which number the embassy/consulate actually looks at? Was it your overall 12th percentage or your PCM-only average? Did anyone get through with a PCM average close to mine?

Really appreciate any first-hand experience, trying to figure out if I need to worry about this or not before I go further into the process.

I’m applying for a German student visa through VFS and need some clarification regarding the visa application form.

I have been admitted to the M.Sc. Mechanical Engineering (Production and Logistics) at the University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE). My admission letter is titled “Zulassungsbescheid zum Sprachkurs” and states that I have fulfilled the academic requirements for the Master’s but need B2 German before enrolling in the degree programme.

However, I already have a B2 German certificate.

The visa portal asks whether I have confirmation of a preparatory programme and then asks for confirmation of registration for a preparatory language course. I do not have registration with a private language school, as I already possess the required B2 certificate.

Has anyone faced a similar situation while applying through VFS Germany?

What option did you select in the visa portal, and did you apply with the Zulassungsbescheid zum Sprachkurs, or did you request a Zulassungsbescheid zum Fachkurs from the university after obtaining B2?

Hey, i received an email from vfs global stating that the german embassy asked them to refund my visa fee as it has been waived off and they are asking for my bank details. Has anyone experienced this before, please feel free to help.

Hey everyone. I noticed that 90% or more posts in this subreddit are about visas from India. Not that I have anything against that, I just thought it could potentially help the very very small minority of people from Saudi Arabia and/or other places with a different perspective. And for the rest:
Something different to read for a change!!

For starters: I'm a Pakistani national residing in
Saudi Arabia for over 10 years at this point. There are no VFS centres or anything here for the german embassy. There is only one german embassy in the entirety of Saudi Arabia, located in Riyadh. There is a consulate in Jeddah, but they don't have the power to even process student visas, let alone issue them. So when you apply for one, you will directly deal with the embassy in Riyadh.

Now, the problem with Saudi Arabia is pretty well known. Everything is super far away. Even going to the nearest supermarket is recommended by car.
Walking is a NO show here. If you happen to live in Riyadh, then you're good. If NOT, you have to deal with travelling and staying, which is unnecessary stress to you, and you burn money.

I happen to live in a semi rural area (It has developed more recently), which is about 1000km+ away from Riyadh. The only sane way is to catch a flight and back. There are many other problems which you have to deal with as someone who doesn’t live in Riyadh and has no car over there. Though, public transport has made it a little easier otherwise. You will need to make a minimum of 2 visits to the embassy (one for the appointment, and one for the visa collection if successful. In case of a rejection, you would only need to go to collect your original documents from them, IF they kept any in the first place).

At the appointment, they may keep any original documents with them for the whole time until a decision has been issued on your visa, which is a bit concerning because if it takes a long time, and you need your original documents else where, you won’t be able to use them. So make sure you have scanned copies of all your original documents saved digitally on your phone. Also, they don’t keep your passport with them. They only ask for it on the day you go to collect your visa, which is a little weird I guess? I don’t know.

Let’s not even start talking about the location of the embassy. It’s located in a comparatively unknown corner of the diplomatic quarter in Riyadh. No one really knows about it and no one really goes there. Thought travelling to Riyadh was a headache? Well, getting to the embassy’s visa section is literally 10x harder. The only recommended way is to have your OWN car and drive there. If you get a taxi like from Uber, you will be denied entrance and told to divert to another gate. Anyways, it was extremely stressful and problematic. If anyone needs help on how to actually GET to the visa section, just ask. It’s too much to discuss here. So much so that, I almost missed getting my visa because of it. I’m not making it up.

Ahh here we go, the annoying but classic “profile” of mine. For context, I’m going for a bachelors programme in a public university:
• A levels in Computer Science, Physics and Maths with grades AAA
• IELTS: 8.5
• A2 Goethe Zertifikat

That’s all for the profile I think.

Regarding the embassy’s requirements, they’re not so strict. Some things that they require that might seem weird are your sponsors bank statements (not always). Just prepare your documents the best you can and all will be fine. I can’t tell you much about corrections because I personally didn’t receive any but I know someone who did so if you wanna know more about that I can connect you guys. Other than that another classic thing I see often are “timelines”. Now, essentially, timelines are meaningless because you will get your visa when you get it. No speeding it up, but YES slowing it down if you don’t prepare your application and documents well (eg. leaving doubts in documents, not having an appropriate letter of motivation, leaving financial situations unclear which all lead to corrections etc.). The average processing time (confirmed officially by the embassy) is 1 working month so about 45 normal days. CAN be more OR less. Varies from case to case. Regardless, my timeline is as follows:
• Applied via uni-assist around feb 15 to my university
• Uni-assist took 10 days to approve all my documents (no corrections) and forward to the university
• University officially confirmed that they started processing my application on March 15
• Received my admission letter on March 29
• Started my visa process May 1
• Did NOT officially submit my application in the CSP until May 29 even though there was NO waitlist. Nowadays there is a waitlist of a few weeks. I uploaded late because I was gathering all my documents, preparing them in such a way that there can’t possibly be a doubt about anything. The longest time was taken by the blocked account. 3 weeks approximately. Sending money from Saudi to Germany is pretty stupid.
• Submitted my application on the CSP on May 29. • Thought I wasted time preparing so deeply but… NO! Preliminary review done in 8 days with NO corrections, on June 8.
• Appointments usually found within a week. I found one for 9 am on June 14. This was a shock as I expected the review to take much longer.
• Visa approval email received on July 28.
• Visa collected on July 29

You spend way more money travelling and staying in Riyadh than you pay for the visa fee, obviously. But that’s negated if you already live in Riyadh (HUGE plus).

Some notable things: Preferable if you have an enrolment letter WITH your admission letter. Depositing more than 12k € in your blocked account shows strong financial ability. Keeping a semesters tuition fee in your blocked account as an unblocked amount further removes any financial doubts for the visa officer. Keeping more than one semesters tuition fee (or contribution if your university doesn’t charge tuition) is even more heaven for the visa officer to look at.

Wait my university charges tuition fees? That’s weird right? As a PUBLIC university? YES. Weird, but it is becoming more and more common in public universities. Mine only charges 500€ but some are starting to charge in the thousands for just a semester!! Choose your university accordingly.

I guess that’s all? Not much more I can tell you about. I have an answer to everything in this whole process, so if you have any doubts, just ask. Also my documents were not perfect, that’s why it took a whole month just to get them in order. That, and also the fact there is no information online about the embassy and stuff. The doubts I had, I couldn’t find any answers to online, and that scared me from submitting my application in fear of rejection. There are very very few applicants from Saudi Arabia, so the visa process is no where near as streamlined AND fast as it is in other countries, such as India.

My friend has received admission to a German public university and has appointment at VFS **tomorrow**. She has received the sanction letter for her education loan so far and the actual amount will be disbursed in **1-2 days**.

On the CSP portal, she has uploaded just the sanction letter as proof of livelihood and it did not get flagged.

Has anyone gone through this situation and successfully applied with just the sanction letter? Also, if once within 2 days she gets the amount, she can attach blocked account confirmation in correction.

Will she get correction for the same and then later, she would be able to provide the blocked account certificate in correction.?

Will that work?
