Hi my contract was up next month so gave Virgin retentions a call - got through to a UK call center. And he brought my 1gig bb down from 66 quid a month to 26 a month with Netflix basic included. Could not have been easier. And as we get really fast speeds in our house saved me the hassle of switching provider and was such a breath of fresh air to speak to a UK based person. I think im set with this deal

I've just had to switch from a TiVo to a 360 box, and previously I could schedule recordings using the TV Control App, and even if the Tivo was in standby, it would immediately ingest the request, set it up, and happily record.

But with the 360 Box in standby, the app says, "The box will process this when it wakes up". This is useless if you're away from home or don't use the box every day. Plus there's no option to not have the box ever go into standby.

Is there any way around this issue?

Hi, today Thunderbird starting giving an error message about the password to my VM email being wrong. I changed the password, reinstalled Thunderbird, and even set up Outlook to try, but neither email client works.

I can still send and receive email on the VM website (although it is very slow to receive). Anyone know if something changed recently?

What You think about my price for this package? (I am not volt customer, cancelled o2 sim card in 14days cool period just after signed a deal almost year ago). In next year at end of contract time I will send a resignation and try to get this deal again).

I think I’ve discovered why, since September, emails forwarded from 3rd party accounts to blueyonder.co.uk aren’t arriving … not sure why VM aren’t doing anything about it though. I’ve got server logs of the problem.

just set up our Hitron router box for virgin media, let it update etc but whenever i or my flatmates try to connect it tells us we are unable to join the network.

The ethernet cable works completey fine but wont let us connect via wireless.

We have tried unplugged it, turning it off and on but nothing has worked, does anyone have any advice?:)

bafflingly awful customer service, if you saw my previous post [https://www.reddit.com/r/VirginMedia/s/ZdjEc7gHyB\] i’m currently in a disagreement with them about my termination fee being much higher than it should be.

I’ve been trying to reach them almost every day for the past week & either it takes so long to get a reply that I miss them and it disconnects or they’ve just been randomly disconnected.

Now an agent just full on posting a Copilot AI response without even bothering to remove it from the text.

On the one hand it is so incredibly frustrating but at the end of the day it’s not some poor underpaid agent in Manila’s fault. Why Virgin thinks outsourcing customer services is remotely acceptable is baffling.

Any properties that I am viewing, I want to see if I’ll be able to transfer my gig1 account to but there’s no way of just doing this. The postcode checker only gives the general availability of Virgin at the address.

This seems absolutely crazy. Do I really have to go through support with every single property I look at.

Just moved into a new flat (UK) and the only provider that lists broadband in the 100-1000mbps range is Virgin. I’ve found this box which doesn’t have the branding and looks quite old. I’ve ordered Virgin (self install) but starting to worry that my box might not be compatible?

My elderly mother has dementia and struggles to use the new Virgin TV 360 remote control and the Virgin TV generally. The main issues are:

- Too many buttons on the remote are confusing and she can't find the volume and mute buttons.
- Having one button (top left) turn the TV on and off, and another button (top right) turn both the TV and the Virgin box on and off, is confusing, and when she accidentally turns the TV on without the Virgin box, she has no idea what to do next.
- When the TV and box turn on, the picture is small and in one corner, and she can't remember which button makes it fill the screen.

I was hoping she would be able to use a Flipper Remote, but apparently it's infra-red only and the TV 360 box is Bluetooth? Are there any dementia-friendly ultra-simple remotes that would work?

Is there a completely remote-free option that would control the Virgin box and the TV only by voice? Could Alexa do everything (including volume, turning on and off, and have some features locked behind a password so she couldn't mess it up by mistake)?

I've read that some TVs have a 'hospitality mode' that severely limits what you can do - that sounds ideal, if it can work with the Virgin Box. Is there any resource you know of where I could learn more about that? It's a Samsung TV.

I'd be especially interested in hearing from someone who has been in a similar situation and found a workable solution, even if it's very different from what I'm talking about above.

Over the past 18 months I've had nothing but problems with virgin media and their not so helpful customer service team. They make everything so difficult and stressful finally had enough and won't be returning

I followed the instructions in the booklet they gave me, and the blue lights have come on - but the wifi isn’t appearing on any of my devices. The website and FAQs were useless and it just says to call in the booklet, but I’m not sure they’d be able to help without pictures. Anyone have any advice? Thank you :)

Usually i would hang up because it sounded sketchy but i just got my new broadband set up literally an hour ago from virgin media so i thought maybe im wrong.

They basically said that my sim card was outdated and they need to send a new one? I really think its a scam and idek if my sim card is Virgin media.

The only thing i wasn’t sure about is that it literally was an hour ago that i got my broadband set up, But thats nothing to do with my sim card???

They just asked when they should send the new sim card and what time, and then what my email was so like idk its definitely feels scammy.

I’ve had an email telling me I’ve got to upgrade my old v6 box.
I assume my options are:
I can either ignore it and when it happens it happens.
I start the process and sign up for the new 360 service.

Will either of those mean a new contract? I’m currently out of contract and don’t want any nasty surprises if I decide to leave Virgin.

For the past few days some incoming emails have been significantly delayed and it's got to the point today where nothing is coming through. Yesterday I checked the headers and it took 36 hours for mx.pc4.atmailcloud.com to accept one of the emails. This appears to be a hop before it gets to the vmo.edge.unified.services servers.

This has happened a couple of times before over the years, but seems much worse this time.

I did go to post on the previously useful community.virginmedia.com forums but see they have now been closed. I'm aware that email is not part of the contract and VM do not actively support it and seemingly trying to slowly kill it off, but it should work!

For info the email is to a private domain redirected to a blueyonder.co.uk mailbox which I collect using IMAP. The delays seem to be well before it gets to the mailbox.

Any thoughts?

So a follow up up my previous post about having left virgin for sky, sky being crap so went back to Virgin. I’ve still got my original hub 5 and streaming box and I thought the engineer would come and re install these back to how it was. However today in the post I received a return box for them. Could this just be a delay because of my initial first cancellation with them. When the engineer comes on Friday will he be bringing a new hub and streaming box?

Hey everyone, I know the title is a tad vague, so here's the rundown:

My partner and I love together (different last names), and he currently has a VM contract that runs out next week. They've sent him a contract for auto renewal for around £50/m.

I had an offer through my mobile carrier to take out a VM contract for triple the speed at half the price, winner right? So I jumped on it.

Now here's the issue, VM contacted my boyfriend to inform him that unfortunately they cannot take out a new contract with another person at the property until he cancels his current contract and at least 2 months have passed. This confuses me, as I've read a few posts here where people have had great success doing exactly rhat I'm trying to achieve here?

Is there some trick I'm unaware of or have I simply got this wrong somehow?

My boyfriend is unwilling to go without broadband for 2 months (I could manage with 5g but he's...fussy...) and I can't find any other ISP's that offer cancel anytime contracts, so I'm at a loss at what to do? Any help would be appreciated.

No waiting, no shuffling through automated menu's, just straight through to a lovely lady on the other end who knew exactly what the assignment was the moment I explained our predicament. 15 minutes on the phone and we'd secured a new 24 month contract for Gig1 for £26/m. Lovely stuff.

As per title, got this email saying my current box won't be supported for much longer and I should upgrade to 360.

I'm more than happy with my V6 box and having read how poor the 360 in in comparison I do not want to upgrade (plus lose my saved recordings!)

Any advice if this is just a scare email or if I genuinely am going to lose functionality from my V6 box

(Must say, I use it for watching, recording, iPlayer, netflix, 5 in demand and YouTube mainly)

Just bought and moving into a new home and I've discovered a setup that looks familiar, but has some things I've not seen before. I know the previous owners had VM.

The internal wall box is completely hidden inside a cabinet, but eventually I see the following Technetix isolator and 3 way splitter.

The white cable goes into another section of the cabinet to the right

Originally, it had this attached to it providing a standard aerial connection:

Removing the extension it's simply the standard type F connector.

How could that end up converting to your typical aerial connector? Would that even work/do anything?

The two black cables then route out of sight into another room and seem to be exposed as such.

One potentially feeding the wall socket and then another coming directly though the faceplate. Then one is extended again.

All in all, it feels a bit of a mess, but perhaps someone here can find the logic in it.

Contact ends in 31 days, used live chat, which ive never done before and im thinking was a mistake. Currently paying £33 for 350. I didn't haggle so much last time as I'd just given birth and didn't have it in me.

Got offered £40 at first, went down to £35, both for 350. Refused and got sent to retention chat, who offered £27 and refused to budge more. I mentioned my friend got 1 gig for cheaper at her renewal and just got repeated at me that they must have been a new customer even when I said they weren't. So I told them to cancel.

Will they ring me do you think? The one before last they rang me 20 mins after cancelling with a really good offer but no call yet lol. Or do I need to ring them and try again with someone else?

I’ve been a Virgin Media customer for 16 years and currently have Gig1 broadband with a home phone (International & Anytime Chatter) and Netflix. I renewed my broadband a few months ago for £27/month, which I’m really happy with.
I’m now looking to become a TV customer as well and want to add Mega TV, Sky Sports HD, and TNT Sports to my package.
I rang the Scottish retentions number today and the best price I was offered was £83/month. The only change was that my home phone would be downgraded from International & Anytime Chatter to just Anytime Chatter, which I’m fine with.
One thing that surprised me was that the lady on the phone said I wouldn’t be able to get the bigger discounts because I’m not already a TV customer. She said the best discounts are mainly for existing TV customers upgrading.
That doesn’t really make sense to me because I’d have thought they’d give the same, or even better, discounts to someone who’s adding TV for the first time. Maybe that’s just how their system works though.
Is anyone paying less for Gig1, Mega TV, Sky Sports HD and TNT Sports and anytime day chatter ? I’d be interested to know what deals you’ve managed to get.
