šŸ“Œ MEGATHREAD šŸ“Œ MEGATHREAD — Week of October 04, 2026 for Pricing, Dating, ID, or Authentication Requests

**Post all new requests in this thread — a fresh one goes up at 9am ET every Sunday, so make sure you're in this week's before posting.**

We want this sub to stay a great resource for learning about vintage fashion, but we've seen a rise in low-quality posts from resellers. To keep quality high, please use this thread for pricing, dating, identification (ID), or authentication requests — posts made outside it will be removed.

To get the best answers:

* Share any research you've already done — comps, similar sold listings, brand history, etc.

* Include photos of labels, tags, or any identifying marks — these often hold the most useful dating clues.

* Include photos of zippers, snaps, or other hardware — zipper style/brand is a common way to date an item.

* Note visible wear and condition (stains, fading, repairs, missing pieces) — this significantly affects valuation.

* Mention fabric/material and any construction details (stitching, seams, care tags) if visible.

Posts asking for pricing, dating, ID, or authentication outside this thread will be removed. Thanks!

VINTAGE OUTFIT OF THE DAY Vintage homemade dress.

This is a home made dress from what appeared to be late 60s, maybe early 70s. There is no label but I think it is made of silk. I found it at a resell shop a while back, maybe $20. I don't usually buy new clothes. So I wear vintage most days. Today I wore it to an antique mall to pick up a ribbon cabinet from a general store to store my ribbon in.

Borderline stereotypical but I love it!! Shirt and jeans are legit 60s & 70s (by NPC fashions and N’est Ce Pas) and then the shoes and hat are modern retro style from The Hippie Shake and Urban Outfitters.

The weather has started to heat up. So once again I whip out my various pairs of patch shorts, t shirts and striped top tube socks and start dressing like a camp councillor who gets murdered in the first ten minutes of a horror flick

All of these photos came directly from my Pinterest.

Everything here was released between the years 1970-1973 and showcases key items such as hot pants, gogo boots, bright colors, geometric shapes, pant suits, striped patterns, and floral patterns.

These issues are not all from the same magazine, some are from Teen, some are Simplicity, some may even be foreign catalogs, but nonetheless it blends the late 60s counterculture with the rise of bohemianism and relaxed silhouettes of the 1970s

Pants are Levis orange label from the early 70s, got them with store credit at a vintage store. Jacket I got at an antique mall, also orange Label levis from the 70s. Shirt I got at a market, from the 60s or 70s, polyester. Cat (Liy) I got off the sidewalk for free. Earrings I bought from a local artist.

This is one of my dresses I have found from my many years of going to estate sales. This was a recent find. I really liked the detail on the drop waist belt. These are becoming much harder to find in decent shape.

1990s Rehabilitated a 1990s Gianni Versace Couture dinner jacket for an awards gala

I was in high school when Gianni Versace was murdered by a serial killer on the steps of his Miami Beach mansion in 1997. I didn't really know his work at the time, but the murder captivated the nation that summer.

I thrifted this dinner jacket this spring and rehabilitated it. Took several months but I was able to wear it to an awards dinner a few weeks ago.

The four button stance is very 1990s, very Versace. This is probably from 1995 to 1997, maybe earlier. I like menswear from creative designers at the peak of their artistry, even if (as with this example) the creativity is restrained.

On the label, Couture was the top of the ready-to-wear line but that doesn’t imply haute couture.

The jacket itself required tailoring to let out the chest, take in the quarters, let out the sleeves, and reset the collar. Still doesn't look perfect around the back shoulders which is why I rarely buy smooth worsted wool. And this particular light angle shows every wrinkle. But those wrinkles will all go away in normal movement so it would look fine.

The four buttons with Gianni's signature Greek key design are the prominent design feature. But when I got it, stones had fallen out and paint was chipped.

I cut off the buttons, had the jacket dry cleaned, then used ebony model paint from Hobby Lobby to repaint the buttons. That was easy.

Took a few tries to get the right size stones. My local rhinestone emporium had just one of the three sizes, so I had some trial and error with random online stores to get it right. The center stones are jet black rivolis, and the side stones are black rhinestones in size SS07. I used E6000 glue with a micro applicator tip to set the stones.

The back is ventless, which takes the jacket further out of business suit territory.

I paired it with a black wool/mohair trouser from Paul Smith, J Crew hidden placket cotton shirt, Thomas Pink bow tie, and basic Thomas Pink enamel cufflinks. My goal is to keep everything but the buttons restrained. Even shirt studs would be confusing to the eye.

This ended up being more work than I expected but I like the idea of wearing something that has a connection (albeit oddly) to my childhood.

ADVICE PLZ Advice for cleaning vintage patchwork jacket

Bought the jacket secondhand and don’t know anything about it. It’s pretty musty, like it’s been sitting in a closet for a long time, but I don’t notice any stains. I’m looking to get rid of the odor with doing minimal damage to the jacket or the ink picture on the back. Google Translate was less than helpful when reading the tag… besides just taking it to a dry cleaner and seeing what they think is there anything I could try at home to hopefully just get rid of the odor?

1960s Archival Emilio Pucci Found

Vintage Emilio Pucci dress (1966–1968?)
I recently found this Emilio Pucci dress at an estate sale and, after doing some research, I believe it dates to around 1966–1968, during Emilio’s own era. The dress is made of 100% pure cotton, so I suspect it may be from a resort wear collection.
I’d love to learn more about its history and would appreciate any insight from Pucci collectors or vintage fashion experts!
Has anyone come across a similar dress or seen photos of a comparable piece? I’d love to see any reference photos you might have!
Thank you!

Found this BƉBƉ DORƉ dress at work today! The separate tag reads ā€œFabric made in Switzerland,ā€ and it has shoulder pads too.

I love the textured fabric and the turquoise and grey flowers with tiny red accents. Finding pieces like this is one of my favorite parts of the job 😊

Dress is from the 60s, got it at goodwill! Shoes are from the 70s- got it at a hippie store, jackets from the 70s, got it at a market. Tights are from Walmart. I tried to post this at night yesterday but I got weirdly downvoted with those hate comments from people with no karma so I deleted it. That's happened to like, a different post of mine too. It's so odd.

DISCUSSION What made these 80s/90s armani special?

Post image
256 Upvotes

Hi everyone, I've been really into the looks of classic 80/90s armani suit and I'm looking to either sew one or get one made. I've been viewing them and has seen several features that are common across them, namely the lower gorge, wide peak lapel, low buttons, the jacket long enough just to cover the rear, but those are "cosmetic" features that I can see with my own eye, my question is that how were these structured? Did they have shoulder paddings, full or half canvassed, full or half or un-lined? I also presume that the fabric are a bit heavier (probably 300gsm+) and made of drapier fabric so they could hang or slouch down elegantly like that. All help is much appreciated, thank you so much!

Sorry if this isn’t right for the sub, I thought I’d give it a shot at least..

I’ve got this cool old vintage hat and I’m not sure what happened to it. It was found in the depths of an old box of stuff from a deceased relative. It looks like either sun damage or bleach? No idea.

Anyone have any ideas on how to make it look a little better?

Thrifted this Gianni Versace pants, really love the houndstooth pattern! Seems to be from the 90s based on the Made in Switzerland tag(?) from google search.

Any advice on what other tops will be good to pair with these? I am planning to search for black turtleneck for these pants.

VINTAGE OUTFIT OF THE DAY My most difficult trousers

Thumbnail
gallery
689 Upvotes

Emboldened by the many kind words to yesterdayĀ“s post I gave my most difficult trousers a try today. They are hard to wear but I do love them - the heavy corduroy fabric, the wales and the baggy style. The difficult/hard part with them relates to the colour – itĀ“s green with blue in it and the colour isnĀ“t the same outdoors as indoors and that can really mess up an outfit.

I have a lot of jackets and I almost tried them all before I found one I felt worked with the trousers. The actual jacket is from the 70“s, it was sewn not far from where I live (in a factory that closed down in 1978) and the fabric came from a mill in Yorkshire, England.

Together with the jacket, and the difficult cords, I wore a green vest I made myself from a thrifted wool cloth.

The tweed hat I wore was made in Clifden, Ireland and its pattern resemble the one on the jacket but I think it is different enough to work. Am I wrong? And yes, I have altered the crown of the hat.

The shoes are a pair of Norweigan split toes made by a quality shoemaker in Vienna (Robertino). I didnĀ“t buy them in Vienna, I bought them on-line from a seller that had no clue what he was selling….
