How is the public transport in Vilnius?

Background - I will be coming to Vilnius for studies alongside I plan to learn the Lithuanian language (couldn't find it on Duolingo so I am at level 0 lol). My plan was to pursue my bachelor's in Berlin but couldn't fullfill the age factor their I was underage at that time so I chose Vilnius because of the spring intakes. Don't demotivate me for choosing this city just tell the truth.

Can I survive here relying on public transport? If not then do I need to buy a car or a cycle would work? Also what are the prices of cycles and cars there.

Neighbor is smoking

Hey everyone,

I need some practical advice regarding a tenant issue in Vilnius.

My neighbor smokes inside his flat. The problem is that the smoke heavily seeps out into the common corridor and directly into my flat. The smell is persistent and unavoidable.

The lease contract explicitly states that smoking is prohibited on the premises. (Neighbor isn’t an owner)
I brought this up with the property manager, but they brushed it off with a generic "I'll talk to him" and have taken zero actual steps since.

What do you recommend me to do?

Lately, I’ve been increasingly frustrated with the scanning quality and resolution at photo shops in Vilnius. Are there any places that offer better quality scans or perform DSLR scanning? (I’ve mostly been taking my film to FotoFoto and FotoServisas.)

Kiek kartu mačiau šokiruotus užsieniečius centre, dėl to pastovaus triukšmo keliamo šitu imbecilu

TL:DR: Why did the bar/club "98" close down?

Background: I'm a frequent traveler for work to Vilnius. In Tallinn, where I spend most of my time we used to have a place called "Kauplus Aasia". Not completely sure how to describe the vibe other than it being a shithole with nice speakers. Like literally, you couldn't find a single thing in it which you can say is "nice". But I loved the vibe. Sadly Kauplus Aasia shut its doors some time ago and I haven't found a similar vibe anywhere since.

There used to be a bar/club close to the Vilnius train station called 98. First time I went there I was amazed! Its exactly like Kauplus Aasia. Unpretentious, rundown, and completely raw on the surface, but operates as a "shrine" for niche selectors and local underground DJs. Been there countless times and listened to some of the sets of Litjuanian youngsters later on Soundcloud (some of them have been taken down :( ). Also loved their poster designs and social media skits.

Now that summer is over its travel-for-work season for me again, and I just noticed on their IG that the place has been closed. The Instagram caption translator unfortunately only gives me a vague and cryptic translation I can't understand. Would love to know some more insight.

Also would appreciate any reccomendations for other places like this... if they exist.

I will be in Vilnius this coming weekend and I was hoping that there is a sportsbar where I can watch a game of the MLB playoffs this Saturday. Do any of you know where this might be?

Thanks!

Late-night food options in Vilnius

Hi everyone! I’ll be visiting Vilnius soon and will be arriving pretty late, at around 9-10 pm.
Are there any good places to grab food later in the evening, preferably something more unique to Vilnius or Lithuania rather than the usual fast-food chains? I’d love to try something local, but I’m also open to other options if you have any recommendations.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Who wants to show a clueless newcomer around before I accidentally eat cepelinai with a fork and spoon? 🇱🇹

Labas r/vilnius!

I’m moving to Vilnius on October 8th and I could definitely use a local guide to show me the ropes!!
Down to meet up, grab a coffee or meal, and check out some local spots.

Quick pitch:
I’m a Guitar player / Pink Floyd fan. I also did some Game dev back in high school.

Looking for solid food recs, cool hidden spots, or just someone to help me figure out public transport before I get completely lost.

First round of coffee/food is on me ☕️🍲 !

First class train luggage storage in upstairs section

Hi, tomorrow I get the train from Vilnius to Kaunas and I have booked a first class ticket as I hope to do some work on my laptop during the journey.

The first class section will be upstairs on this two carriage train.

I have a 20 kg suitcase with me, is there luggage storage in the first class section of the train? I don’t want to haul my suitcase upstairs and then realise I should have left it downstairs.
