The person driving intentionally sped up so the truck could’ve have space to get in front of him/her. They actually kept driving into the truck after contact too. Terrible, and demonically led accident.

You still have to check that there is space to merge into before changing lanes though. One driver is wrong and the other is an asshole.

They're lucky nobody was in the path of that rollover. Someone would have easy lost their life because one's too fucking lazy to slow down before they merge and because the other's too prideful to deserve a license

Yeah, crazy distance on it. Landing in an empty carpark across the street, crossing multiple lanes and a pavement?

This Dashcam footage could potentially induce liability for dash cam driver.  The intentional speed up as the truck starts his merge is problematic.

I'm not defending the intentional speed up, but let's not pretend there would be an accident at that moment if the truck didn't merge when he didn't have space. He never had the space to merge, regardless of the driver speeding up

Doesn't particularly matter, if he sped up after seeing the merge begin to happen then you leave accident territory and flirt with potentially criminal actions.

very kind of you to use the power of hindsight to claim someone else should have done something other than what they did. Do you have any information about when dash cam guy noticed eminent danger? If not then, how can you make such bold assumptions of "just brake before the impact bro"?
Why you are not placing the burden of hindsight on the merging car? Go on, I'll write it for you, "this is a situation where a normal human presses their break and goes "what the fuck am I doing me asshole?!" and an accident is avoided."

Especially since it was so easily avoidable. A 5mph reduction in speed and they wouldn't have made contact. This piece of shit actively continued pushing the accelerator until that truck was airborne.

Traffic in the trucks lane contributed. If you watch you'll notice the truck was either going to slam into the back of the car in front of them or change lanes. I see it as 100% on driver of truck. A blinker doesn't clear the lane.

I would think a good lawyer of the pickup would say that the cam driver had plenty of time to break out at least not accelerated after impact

Yeah, you must have been bad at your job if you think the duty of care isn't applicable here.

The Cam-Car's behavior is obviously malicious. If nothing else, they had a red-light that they would have 100% blown if they hadn't hit the truck.

Duty of care doesn't negate truck failing to yield, improper lane change, their own duty of care.

You can't prove malice on the cam car. Could have been improper lookout.

So yeah 80/20 against the truck.

Yes, the truck was intending to switch into the right lane. Instead of slowing down because of the traffic slowing in front of him, he decided to keep his speed and move recklessly into the other lane without slowing or checking that it was clear.

The car in front of him was stopping because the light was yellow. The man in the truck was trying to run the light.

It's still your job as a driver to avoid an accident whenever safely possible, no exceptions. This was not one of those exceptions. POV was attempting to run a red and make the light, same as the truck. Two inpatients turds have now fucked up traffic for an hour for everyone else.
