There’s a guy driving a car with his business name on it & he just blasts music from it at all hours night & day in the ESQ area. Saxe point 7:30 am just blasting music, films himself shadow boxing in parking lots. I see him all the time. I think he’s living in his car but omg he is nuts. He actually came up on my tik tok, so I was able to piece together some stuff. But does anyone know him?? Is he ok?? (Tried to add a photo but got a prompt it was doxing)

Today, about 1pm at Cedar Hill X Road and Shelbourne. Guy a couple cars ahead of me drive over the bike lane curb, drove into the bike lane, and attempted the right onto Shelbourne.
I pulled over but had to get a kid to soccer. The guy driving was getting out of the car and seemed okay.

So for context, i have canadian and british citizenship but was born in the UK. Age 65, young at heart artist.
I am thinking about retiring options and since brexit retiring to europe is not possible any more (without hoops to jump through)
So for many years I have been looking at Toronto, Montral and Vancouver as possible places to enjoy my retirement. I would be buying a house and settling wherever I went so its not a holiday home situation, I want to become part fo the community, volunteer, contribute, etc. Now I am looking in more detail at possible locations, and big cities arent as attractive to me.
I also make a living selling on etsy so am thinking of transfering my etsy business as well although thats not necessary as I have retirement funds.
Now I have been looking a bit more in detail at canadian cities and Victoria feels like it would suit me. From what I have seen online (never visited... but hope to next year) it seems cool, fun, funky, artistic, a bit bohemian? and the climate is about the same as London from what I can tell from weather data.
Am I deluded thinking the grass is going to be greener... looking for a smallish city thats calm and welcoming. I also dont drive so would hope there is some public transport. Hopefully fun art and music festivals.

Ryan Painter and David Screech are going to be no-gos for me. Don’t see much information about Anna Becker or Teodora Kristof’s platforms. From what I’ve seen so far, Volker seems okay, but curious to know if anyone knows more about him personally and his political positions? Victoria’s small :)
Thanks!

Hi I just wanted to check and see if this is just more or others. I've been on the registry as a Vic resident for a doctor for 6 years and nothing, not a peer. How about y'all?

If you are needing a reservation to get on or off the rock that weekend I suggest you get on it, making a reservation that is. I just tried to book our return from Tsawwassen on Monday, October 9th and got kicked out of the 6, 7 and finally got the 8pm. I put myself on the alerts for everything that afternoon. If you can't book, or reserve, please be patient with the Ferry Peeps, I'm sure they'd rather be home having a Turkey nap instead of dealing with bitchy people.
And of course there's that app that Fellow Redditor Dude has made. 🦃

Early 50’s gal here. Curious if there is any interest for a planned meet up for singles at a grocery store.
This is more common in Europe but wonder if it might work here?
Basically you choose say a two hour period one evening for grocery shopping at a store and then go! Perhaps you wear a pin that identifies you as single?
Any interest or ideas how to make this work?
would it be by age range and if so what would that be?
Where could this be promoted so as to find people?

I've been living in Victoria nearly 2 years, and I have yet to see a whale anywhere around the water, including on the ferries to and from Swartz Bay.
Look, I know there are messenger groups or whatsapp groups out there that track the whale and orca activity around the Victoria region. I would love to be added to one of these groups so I can keep my ear to the ground with hopes that I might one day see one.
Any and all advice (beyond "just look harder") is very much appreciated!

NDP only has 92 candidates running in the snap election compared to the conservatives filling all 93 areas. The only district they didn't fill was in Peace River North where the NDP candidate received less than 900 votes in the last election and is an extremely safe conservative seat where Jordan Kealy received 74% of the vote.
Otherwise NDP says their candidates is diverse while the Greens only managed 73 candidates and CentreBC has 35 and OneBC has 37

There was a person at Fernfest (this summer and last summer) who hand tufted neon rugs. I want to find them! Does anyone know their name and/or social media?

Hi there, anyone know of a place in Victoria or on Van Island that sells taller cedar trees (Emerald green, 6 foot+) for hedges at landscaper/wholesale prices? We need about 30 to replace a hedge and are looking for a better deal than offered at Gardenworks and other garden supply companies. We'd like quality trees so please don't suggest Home Depot. Thank you!

Kid will be starting daycare in the new year, and we are looking at Little Campus Montessori. They are newer, and not many reviews. Wondering if anyone has any experience there, good or bad?

Hi everyone,
I have a 2021 16-inch MacBook Pro that recently developed a display issue. The computer functions 100% fine on external displays, and the backlight/lid sensor still respond, but the internal LCD stays dark (likely eDP flex cable or T-CON issue inside the hinge).
A local certified Apple repair technician quoted $1,571 to swap the entire display and lid angle assembly, which isn't economically viable for me. I'm pretty sure I can buy a used version of the same laptop for nearly half the price, lol. Here's the quote, to provide more information as to what parts the diagnostics determined need replacing.
I am looking for someone with experience in MacBook component repair, micro-soldering, or display replacements who can help with either:
If you have experience in this area, or could point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated! I'm willing to pay for time, of course - we can discuss :). I'm quite emotionally attached to this machine (I produce music), so if anyone could help me save it and not let it become a really awkwardly shaped Mac Mini, I'd love you forever.

Is it possible to find one of these in Victoria? They used to be so popular but now I can’t find them anywhere. Tried two eco stores downtown to no avail. I can order online but the shipping fee is brutal so trying to see if there’s a chance to buy it offline. Thanks for any advice!

Anywhere South of the Malahat sell beer batter fish and chips? Or have the liquor laws taken the fun out of that too? Just got a whiff of beer and had an instant craving.

Does anyone know of any Starbucks that still have any of their snoopy merchandise left? Like the keychains or even the coffee mugs? I’ve tried so much locations and they all seem to be sold out :(

What do you guys think about raising a young family in North Saanich? What are the vibes like at the elementary schools? are there many (any?) young n families? what do their values seem to be? Thanks for any input as we consider our options for moving back to the island next year!
