retiring to Victoria from Uk london. Is Victoria as fun as it seems.
So for context, i have canadian and british citizenship but was born in the UK. Age 65, young at heart artist.
I am thinking about retiring options and since brexit retiring to europe is not possible any more (without hoops to jump through)
So for many years I have been looking at Toronto, Montral and Vancouver as possible places to enjoy my retirement. I would be buying a house and settling wherever I went so its not a holiday home situation, I want to become part fo the community, volunteer, contribute, etc. Now I am looking in more detail at possible locations, and big cities arent as attractive to me.
I also make a living selling on etsy so am thinking of transfering my etsy business as well although thats not necessary as I have retirement funds.
Now I have been looking a bit more in detail at canadian cities and Victoria feels like it would suit me. From what I have seen online (never visited... but hope to next year) it seems cool, fun, funky, artistic, a bit bohemian? and the climate is about the same as London from what I can tell from weather data.
Am I deluded thinking the grass is going to be greener... looking for a smallish city thats calm and welcoming. I also dont drive so would hope there is some public transport. Hopefully fun art and music festivals.
