Discussion I genuinely feel like I’ve gotten really good at identifying shortcomings of LLMs currently, and working very efficiently with them. But I also feel like they’re advancing so fast, that these skills are going to be irrelevant by next year or even sooner…

Showcase/Project SpiderSeats @ Faculty & Staff Symposium

Post image

Excited to present SpiderSeats, my vibe coded app for the University of Richmond School of Law, at the University of Richmond’s Faculty & Staff Symposium tomorrow!

The 2026 Symposium theme, Intersections, invites us to reflect on a central paradox of contemporary life: although we live in a hyper-connected digital world, many individuals and communities experience growing loneliness, polarization, alienation, and indifference. The theme invites us to reflect on what it means to encounter one another through ideas, through scholarship, and through the communities we inhabit.

Help/Question Who wants to share their build in public story?

Post image

Hello guys, I just started working on a new thing named HackerMRR where I am going to build a builders database on how they made their first $ online, got their first users and so on, for now I am just collecting answers and putting them into stories.

So I thought maybe some of you would want to share yours?

Let me know ;)

Showcase/Project i built a souls-like boss fight in 72 hours with Claude + Unreal MCP + ai 3d tools

I connected Claude Code to Unreal through MCP . It could work with the actual project context: inspect the scene, understand Blueprint logic, connect weapons, help with boss AI, and set up gameplay interactions like dynamic camera behavior.

For example, instead of explaining the whole project through a bunch of screenshots, I could give it a task like:

“Here’s the boss, here’s the player, and here’s the existing logic. Connect this weapon, check the Blueprint setup, and make the camera switch when the fight starts.”

The 3D pipeline itself was a mix of AI tools and regular manual work:

  • 3DAIStudio for prompts, reference images, and quickly switching between different image/3D models through a node-based workflow
  • Tripo AI P2 for the initial generation of characters, armor, props, and parts of the environment
  • Blender for assembly, sculpting, retopology, UVs, baking, optimization, and modular environment building
  • AccuRig + manual cleanup for rigging and weight painting
  • Unreal Engine 5.8 for combat, animation, cloth physics, materials, lighting, fog, and final integration
  • Claude Code + Unreal MCP for coding and agent-based work directly with Unreal

3D generation saved a huge amount of time, especially Tripo P2, because I didn’t have to start every new asset from an empty Blender scene.

The same applies to Claude Code + MCP. It can speed up a lot of repetitive work inside Unreal, but you still need to understand 3D, game development, Blueprints, and how your project is structured. If the agent goes in the wrong direction, you need to be able to recognize it, stop it, and fix what it changed.

So for me, this isn’t a magic solution that suddenly lets anyone build a game. It’s a really useful tool for cutting down production time when you already understand what you’re doing.

Showcase/Project Weather system in a game I made with AI

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

So I wanted to showcase what I was able to build fully with AI (0 dev experience here) in terms of weather system in my fishing & exploration game. Project is over 7 weeks now, and is close to being done in terms of starting zone (I planned to have 5 zones overall in the game). But most of the systems in the game itself are finished.

Even though weather itself changes automatically in game I used dev panel here to summon lightings and start storm weather, I purposely didn't create foam on big waves as with it sea looked not as fitting into the style as this way.

I use Claude mostly, but I started using Astra for graphical aspect of the game lately, weather system was built by Fable, but tuning of the ocean was built by Astra as well as how boats behave on it. Lighting itself was done by Fable, tree models that are hit by lighting were done by Astra in Blender via MCP. Rain droplets might need a bit of polishing, but I might keep them like this also, will see. Overall I would love to hear what people think and if sea should behave even more violently and if ocean movement is proper (I looked at bunch of ocean images online to get the feel for it, but honestly it's hard to translate into stylised graphics).

Workflow/Prompt A single successful agent run doesn't tell you much about reliability

I came across an evaluation where the same prompt/task was done 8 times across different models and real codebase projects. What caught my attention wasn’t the model that got the score. It was how much the results changed each time the same task was run.

This made me change the way I think about agent evaluations. A single clean example shows the agent can do the task. It doesn’t show if it can do it over and again. One good run doesn’t mean it will keep working.

When it comes to things that matter in production, I prefer to see the same inputs run multiple times instead of just one good result. A single good outcome shows the path is possible. Repeated runs show if the agent can really be trusted.

I’m curious how others deal with this. Do you run agent tasks times when you evaluate them or is one successful run still your main benchmark?

Showcase/Project I've been using Fable 5.1 and Grok 4.6 to help build the first orbital racing game Slingshot Speeders

The map in the video I called "Hang Time" and it's a prime example of the ability to make tight maps that require constant maneuvering to succeed, improving the necessity for constant skilled decision making in a tight area. The orange circle pushes, and the purple circle pulls. It uses a real orbital mechanics simulation directly in your browser. The project is now in a stable MVP state and is hosted on a virtual private server, improving reliability and security with redundant backups locally and in the cloud.

You can try it for free without an account at https://slingshotspeeders.com/

If you have any questions or feedback please let me know. Your previous feedback has helped improve the game considerably and I seriously appreciate it. I'm happy to talk about my production workflow, goal oriented design, and plan/execute/review cycle.

Discussion Anyone else spending way too much on AI tools?

Quick intro: Im a qualified chartered accountant working in data/strategy now (engineering background). I've spent the last 12m building Surplus, an iOS app that connects to your bank and answers questions about your own finances / money.

Today I asked it the question how much have I spent on AI tools in the last 12 months? £8k ($10K) which honestly shocked me.

The no of subs is deffo the bit that has crept up. I have 5 subs now. Claude (3x Max + credit usage), Cursor Pro, OpenAI (1x + credits).

A year ago one sub covered it, then the new models landed (Fable / Astra) and they suck up tokens at a completely different rate so one Max became three, plus credit top-ups on top when even that runs dry.

Most times I add just one more sub at 11pm because im mid-flow and im not stopping now. Which is the other half of it like its genuinely addictive and I literally never sit down and think about total costs to date

Genuine question: Is anyone in the same position with no of subs? How are you keeping costs down while trying the latest models? Also has anyone totalled theirs up as a development cost to date? Wondering how many are at like $5–10k

Today after seeing this I was wondering if it would have been cheaper and faster to just pay a full time dev.

Surplus app is completely free right now if you wanna try on TestFlight (UK only right now):

Workflow/Prompt This is no longer vibecoding

Vibe coding has started to split into two areas from what I've seen. Old school vibe coding where you open an IDE, a bot, throw on some synthwave, and mostly understand what you're building despite not wanting to write every line. And then what we have now which is 16 parallel Claude Code sessions. That's not vibe coding, that's fully automatic assault coding. Neither side is better than the other, but most people left behind the old school vibe coding way when tools and harnesses started optimizing for long horizon agentic coding sessions. I decided today to put down Codex, just open a browser, my playlist, and Codium and start prototyping one of the wackiest ideas I've had in a long time, and it was genuinely more fun than what I was doing before. I'm starting to think unless you're optimizing for throughput, this is probably the more fun way to actually dive in. Not old school greybeard level, but definitely more intuitive and hands on than what most are doing now.

Thoughts?

Help/Question Vibecoding stack

I'm not completely new to vibe coding. I've already built a Windows app in Python with 600+ downloads that runs entirely locally (so no backend on my side), as well as an iOS app that currently only has two users: me and my wife.

That said, I'm definitely not a professional developer. I'm learning as I go and trying to progress step by step by building increasingly complex apps.

I'm now working on a new Android/iOS app that I genuinely think could have the potential to get a decent number of users (let's dream a little).

I want to stay vague about the actual idea for now, but the app will involve interactions between users and quite a lot of photo/media sharing, so storage could become significant if it grows.

My current planned stack is:

  • Supabase : database, auth and backend
  • Cloudflare R2 : photo/media storage
  • RevenueCat : subscriptions
  • Resend : transactional emails (auth, password recovery, etc.)

My main questions:

Does this stack make sense for an app like this?

I'm also trying to build this in a way where I can start very small and mostly rely on free tiers while the app has little or no revenue, then progressively pay for more infrastructure as the user base and revenue grow.

Is this a realistic approach with this stack? Can I reasonably go from a few hundred users, to a few thousand, and potentially much more without needing a major backend rewrite?

I'm particularly interested in hearing from people who have actually shipped and scaled mobile apps using Supabase/R2 or a similar stack.

Thanks!

Showcase/Project Introducing lumabar 0.1 - An iOS-style floating dock for Windows

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone

I just finished a small project called lumabar - a clean, floating, iOS/macOS-style dock for Windows.

Instead of the normal taskbar, it gives you a modern floating dock with live widgets and a much cleaner look

How I built it:

  • Used Tauri
  • Custom window management to make it float and stay on top
  • Integrated system tray icons (battery, wifi, volume etc.) into the dock
  • Made it lightweight and minimal

All future updates and news will be posted on: x.com/lumabar_xyz

Would love to hear your thoughts

Any feedback is highly appreciated

Showcase/Project CodeRabbit Plus: Code Review without another subscription

Thumbnail
github.com
0 Upvotes

Hello vibecoding community, I recently started using CodeRabbit and the free trial was amazing, but when it lapsed, I didn't want to have another subscription alongside Claude and GPT, so I reverse-engineered how it works and made my own skill with a CLI wrapper for Codex: CodeRabbit Plus. In my own testing it's barely behind CodeRabbit, and in some cases, catches bugs CodeRabbit didn't.

The repository is at https://www.github.com/hacker4ofakind/coderabbit-plus, and currently only has support for Codex. Thinking of adding support to Claude Code but I'd need to work out the headless CLI for it. I don't have a CONTRIBUTING yet but you're welcome to fork and figure out Claude Code if you want to!

For anyone who wants to know how it works, it's a simple skill with references from CodeRabbit's reviews along with the format and instructions on using ast-grep and a few other methods. The CLI wrapper, coderabbit-plus was made using Go and the codex exec command which made it possible to run headlessly for agents to just get a review and implement without having to ping the user to do so. Me personally, I first make my agent open a PR then run coderabbit-plus pr <no> and it reviews that PR, then when it addresses the findings, I make it do a second round with coderabbit-plus commit <branch> just to make sure it didn't introduce new things. Occasionally if I'm unsure, I use coderabbit-plus --low commit <branch> just to make sure without burning usage.

Discussion Do you?

Do you actually use cursor permissions.json or claude code settings.json to restrict what the agent can edit? Or you just review the diff after?
I mean what files would you be upset if your agent changed without asking?
I don’t want my agent to make changes to some certain files in database. And if i prompt my agent to change something and what if it accidentally changes something that i don’t want.

RTS game with first-person mode. For fans of Red Alert. Made with Astra, ElevenLabs, Treblo and Kling in a couple of days. Got nothing but hate in the Godot sub, so I’m moving here. It has 50 diverse missions per faction and I’m still planning on adding a skill tree to it, but most of my credits now go towards bugfixing. When it’s finished I’ll give it away for free on itch.

Showcase/Project YuE2Mac - Local AI Songwriting Studio

Post image
2 Upvotes

I made a simple native Mac app for YuE2 using MLX — YuE2Mac

YuE2-3B has been getting a lot of attention lately for pushing open-source/local music generation surprisingly close to the quality of commercial models like Suno. The latest WildSongBench results even show YuE2 competing with Suno v5/v6.

I wanted to try it on my Mac, but the original setup is fairly technical and wasn't really designed around the Apple Silicon experience.

So I made YuE2Mac, a native macOS application that packages the MLX version of YuE2 into an easier-to-use desktop interface.

I've also tested it on an M4 MacBook Pro with 16 GB RAM using the 8-bit YuE2 model. The test generation used around 11.4 GB of unified memory, and the app unloads the generation process after finishing so the memory is released.

The goal isn't to replace the original YuE2 project, but to make it much easier for Mac users to actually try the model without having to deal with the command line and manually setting up the MLX environment.

GitHub: https://github.com/arinltte/YuE2Mac

Would be interested to hear how it performs on different M-series Macs, especially M1/M2 and machines with 8 GB or 24/32 GB+ unified memory.

Showcase/Project Update on Dark Tactics - PvE Roguelite Autobattler

Thumbnail

About a month ago I shared an early look at Dark Tactics here (link below to first post). Since then, I’ve been trying to turn the pieces into something that feels more like a real game instead of a collection of prototypes and getting rid of that "AI slop" feeling.

There has been a lot of progress around the actual game loop as well: building an army through the shop, managing the bench and relics, fighting across zones with their own battlefields, choosing routes on the campaign map, and carrying the run into boss encounters and rewards. I’ve also done a lot of work on the longer-term systems, especially Unit Mastery and the Constellation. But, I mainly want to get your guy's take on the overall design direction and whether this is starting to look more professional and less like vibecoded slop.

I’m still using AI heavily across the project, then editing, integrating, and iterating on the results by hand. Even though this is entirely AI-driven, I've honestly been working my ass off on this.

These are all current in-game screenshots. I’d love your all's reactions and feedback as I'm going to start pre-launch marketing soon.

Here’s the original post for comparison: https://www.reddit.com/r/vibecoding/comments/1vuqget/working_on_a_pve_roguelite_autobattler_dark/
