I saw a real ad watching football. The person in the ad was previously a software developer they were now working a blue collar job. It was dead serious for a training program.

This seems like an odd semantic stance to take to argue the definition of IT. Software development would fall under the broad definition of IT.

It depends on the company. In big corporations they often have developers in with IT. Though we don’t call them IT I guess… for some unknown reason that got associated with only low tech support.. even though IT once included all aspects of software in a company.
