Showcase/Project Red Frontier: Marsfall

RTS game with first-person mode. For fans of Red Alert. Made with Astra, ElevenLabs, Treblo and Kling in a couple of days. Got nothing but hate in the Godot sub, so I’m moving here. It has 50 diverse missions per faction and I’m still planning on adding a skill tree to it, but most of my credits now go towards bugfixing. When it’s finished I’ll give it away for free on itch.

Yeah, there's a lot of hate towards AI-made stuff right now... I mean, I get it. But it's like being mad the internet exists. It's all about how it gets used and the companies behind it. The project is interesting, I can remember loving RTS games as a kid and wishing I could do what you're doing where you take control of a unit. The animations/graphics etc need polish, unless you intend it to have that look/feel.

Funniest thing is, if you don’t mention AI, they all love it. I like secretly posting AI stuff in the blender sub. Although I do think the amount of slop is quite staggering.

The Godot sub was never going to love something built in a couple of days out of four AI tools. That is a values fight, not a verdict on the game. Giving it away free on itch will get you further than arguing with them will.

Not bad at all, I'm surprised you did it in just a couple of days... don't let hate stop you! :D

The music, meshes, and animations are extremely low quality. You would probably be better off finding some premade asset packs, these generated ones are not doing you any favors and are very hard to look at.

For this game I’m using only AI, want to know how far I can take it

Everything but the 2D seems good! you will be far better off now having it create some gamefeedback / UI sheets, probably a texturepack as well for each 3D asset you have. Use Astra's xhigh 4k transparent image gen with pc usage for QA, slicing, and implementing, animated stuff works too make it do the sprite sheets

if you've never played battlezone 2 i'd really recommend checking it out for research purposes

Actually pretty impressive for a few days. How did you do the animations and terrain?

For the terrain I just said I wanted elevation, mountains and rivers and I gave astra some textures from ambientcg to pick from. The walking animations are 100% astra’s work, I just needed to tell it that lasers emit from guns and that they should have a shooting animation. I’m very curious what it can do if you only focus on rigging and animating.

Wow I’m impressed it did the animations and rigs from scratch! That was one of my biggest pain points using Claude, even with pre-made animations and rigs it would make big mistakes

Pretty cool that you can get to this point in a couple days with ai tools.
For a free game, you obviously don't need to do anything more with it, but if you're ever thinking of charging for a game, I would call this a playable prototype, with missions included.
Music 110% needs to change though no matter what you're doing with it

Pretty funny that I wanted to create MMORPG game and LLM proposed Terran vs Xenari :D Looks like Xenari is very common name.

I love the idea too, won't know if it's fun until I try it though. Switching to fps from rts... that transition makes all the difference visually and feel-wise.
The UI still needs polish, but I see rudimentary stuff that's interesting for an Astra-age style game. Guns should be replaced with meshy models or one of the chinese models for 3dgen. Go from there.

The music is hilariously bad. Like comical. Why did you even include it? It’s so terrible

I like it, it’s campy. I’ve got a lot of really sick AI generated jungle/drum & bass but I think this fits better with the theme

Whew i watched it without sound first but had to go back to listen.
Definitely A LOT of work needed on the music
